Nostalgia has ruled over the past few years of TV and movies, and now it appears to be hitting the MMO genre. What is it about Indie MMOs and being “old school”? Are these new games trying to prove something? Or is it all just a nostalgia fueled cash grab? TheHiveLeader throws in his 2 cents, which is probably worth even less.
Tira announced for Soul Calibur VI as a bonus character for the Season Pass, Libra of Soul story mode focuses on custom characters
The ring-swinging jester is back in a familiar form and the second story mode is whatever you make it
Bandai Namco Entertainment announced early this morning, but not too early for those at Gamescom 2018, that the unstable ringmaster, Tira, will be included in Soul Calibur VI as a bonus included in the Season Pass and as standalone DLC. The character’s look echoes her two original designs from Soul Calibur III and Tira’s unique character trait also returns, with her fighting style changing along with her own personality, from light and bubbly to dark and relentless.
Will you awaken Tira’s true personality in #SOULCALIBUR VI? An expert in the ominous Dance of Death fighting technique, this former assassin returns to the stage of history as a bonus character for Season Pass owners, and as a stand-alone DLC. pic.twitter.com/PdFY8nRXws

That’s not all of the new information for today. Bandai Namco Entertainment also released another trailer for Gamescom 2018 giving a sneak peek at Libra of Soul, a secondary story mode where players create their own characters to join in the battle for the fate of history.
Character creation works a little differently in Soul Calibur VI. While the movesets and weapons are still based on the roster of main characters, players begin the process by choosing one of sixteen races. Among these races are humans, lizardmen, automatons, outcasts (which are more like animal people, but not to the same degree as lizardmen, think bunny ears), skeletons, and many more. From there, things look more familiar, with plenty of options for armor, colors, and afros, among other hairstyles.
The story is told through cutscenes and battles against both the main cast of Soul Calibur VI and original fighters made by the community. Players move throughout the world map by using in-game currency, journeying to different locations of interest with various methods for character progression. Players can even gather Soul Edge shards and gain experience in battles, all in hope to defeat the mode’s new sorcerer antagonist.
Soul Calibur VI is practically around the corner, releasing October 19, 2018, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Stick around for more news from Gamescom 2018 and Soul Calibur VI!
Make the most of Lars’s whiff punishment options in Tekken 7
With season 2 of Tekken 7 on the horizon, some characters are inevitably more likely to receive buffs than others. One of those characters is the underrepresented Lars — it’s no secret that Heihachi’s Swedish son got the short end of the frame data stick. One area he isn’t weak in, though, is whiff punishment:
JusticeSoulTuna shows that fact with a breakdown of options at various ranges, and the damage output possible between them. B+3,4 in particular is worthy of praise, allowing the electric swede to setup his high damage wall combo game off of baited getup kicks.

Shkodo shows off the first true unblockable in Dragon Ball FighterZ
As showcased by any of its recent major tournaments, Dragon Ball FighterZ has a huge emphasis on blocking. Losing the offensive in the neutral game could mean facing over 30 seconds of block-strings, and the mental resilience of that much offense is just as much of a challenge. However, Russian DBFZ player Shkodo may have simplified the process.
Shkodo uploaded a video this morning of the first known unblockable set-up in the game, cashing out a free level 3 super when using Gotenks, Kid Buu, and either Android 16 or Trunks. As shown in the beef of the video below, it’s simple to set up, and even lands when the opponent jumps. Shkodo has noted, though, that a well placed invincible move will break out safely — regardless, the danger of a nigh-guaranteed level 3 will surely spice things up in DBFZ‘s offensive play.

Maul your opponents with these okizeme setups for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition’s Sagat
The King of Muay Thai, traditionally, was a zoning character in past iterations of Street Fighter. With the combination of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s get up mechanics and his long limbs, though, this tiger is not so easily pigeonholed, as World Warrior FGC demonstrates in his latest setup video:
EX Low Tiger Shot and Tiger Knee, in particular, allow Sagat get creative with his setups on a grounded opponent. Particularly in the corner, it becomes easy for Sagat to work tricky which-ways and meaty setups on those that panic when getting up.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’s community comes together for their second community combo video
A while back, we featured a community combo video from a number of creators for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Now, the community has come together and released a second installment of this.
In spite of all the setbacks the game has suffered — including a lack of official support keeping it from major tournaments — the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite community has stuck together, continuing to play the game and break it down. The video below is the result of the efforts of a number of community members (who we’ve listed below) dedicated to showing off what this game still has to offer.

Final Showdown demonstrates combos for Teen Gohan, base Goku, Piccolo, Vegito, and base Vegeta in Dragon Ball FighterZ
With a new patch and new characters, there’s a lot of new stuff being discovered in Dragon Ball FighterZ. As such, it’s not surprising that many creators are now hard at work figuring out just what new things characters can do. One such creator is none other than Final Showdown. Aside from being one of the most influential combo video makers for the game, he’s also one of the most prolific — and he proves that latter point here with five new combo videos.
First up, we have a couple of videos that explore the maximum damage potential of base form Goku, and Teen Gohan. The latter is a character that Final Showdown has explored before, and this video builds on his older ones. As for the former, he labels the video with a question mark, indicating that there may be more to see from the character.
Next up, we have Vegito, who Final Showdown was working on prior to the patch. The video below explores some things that have changed for the fusion after the latest patch.
Moving on, this Piccolo video demonstrates some impressive looking orb combos for Piccolo.
Finally, we have this video demonstrating some loop combos for base form Vegeta. Interestingly enough, Final Showdown has stated that he hasn’t put as much time into the character , and as such the combos here aren’t optimal ones, just some stuff he’s found that the character can do.

Catch the entire cast in action in this new My Hero One’s Justice trailer
Now that’s using your quirk!
Bandai Namco Entertainment is ramping up promotion for My Hero One’s Justice with a gameplay trailer featuring the entire playable cast of the game. Running at over 11 minutes, players get a good look at each character’s personal style and special moves.
In addition to the video above, Bandai Namco Entertainment has also dropped a new 15-second TV spot for the game, briefly reenacting the epic fight between All Might and All For One.
My Hero One’s Justice launches in Japan (as My Hero Academia: One’s Justice) on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on August 23, 2018. It will arrive in the West a little bit later on October 26, 2018, for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, as well as Xbox One, and PC.
Also, don’t forget about the number 2 hero, (depending on where you are in the series) Endeavor — who is pre-order DLC and has yet to be showcased in-game.
