Raptor and HoneyBee look at the most significant changes in Injustice 2’s patch 1.16

With the final characters of Fighter Pack 3 — the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — set to raise some shell in Injustice 2 starting tomorrow, the game was recently updated to patch 1.16. This brought forth a host of balance changes for the likes of Catwoman, Supergirl, Hellboy, Black Adam, Enchantress, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Poison Ivy, Starfire, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Gorilla Grodd, and several others.

BeastCoast|HoneyBee starts off by providing us with two separate videos looking at some of the more significant buffs and nerfs this patch provided, with timestamps included so you can cut right to the chase with your character of choice.

Lastly, Noble|Raptor provides us with another great “before and after” comparison of each individual change applied to every character, no matter how small, so we can see the full effective impact of the specific alterations to each fighter.

What do you think of these patch changes? Is their anyone you feel may have been overbuffed or overnerfed, or perhaps even left out? Or do you feel this latest update puts the game in a perfect state as we head into the release of the Turtles? Give us your thoughts on things in the Comments section below!

Tune into Arc System Works’s Twitch stream today at 5:00 PM PST for a special announcement

Are you an Arc System Works fan, and had nothing to do planned in a few hours? Well, thanks to this surprise teaser on the @ArcSystemWorksU Twitter, you do now:

While there’s very little indication of what the announcement could be, the guests involved at least allow us to speculate a little. With Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle and the the re-balance of Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 both set to roll out soon, the producers may be brought on for more information on these titles. Then again, the above image references the company’s comical Evo 2018 promos — perhaps we have a future bombshell related to the world’s biggest fighting game tournament…?

Dragon Ball FighterZ round up: tag concepts, beam clashes, resets, and combos that do over 9000 damage

Three weeks since launch and we’re still getting a lot of new video content for Dragon Ball FighterZ. This latest round up features a ton of combo videos as well as some guides and breakdowns.

We start with none other than Final Showdown, who has become one of the biggest contributors in terms of video content to the Dragon Ball FighterZ community. His first video focuses on some concepts that players can apply to the game’s tag system.

Next he breaks down the game’s implementation of the series’s trademark beam struggles.

Next up, he shares a couple of new combo videos. The first being for Cell, followed by one for Kid Buu.

Of course, Final Showdown isn’t the only player making content for the game. AnaboliChris shared a video showing an Adult Gohan combo developed by noted French player Alioune.

Meanwhile, AlukardNY has shared a video demonstrating some advanced combos for Frieza.

Wakbott on the other hand explores Majin Buu and the resets that he can pull off.

For those struggling to do combos for our lord Yamcha, here’s a basic combo guide from DextrousLee.

Finally, we have a couple of full on touch of death combos. The first video from TheSchmogi shows a couple that the team of Trunks, Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, and Tien can pull off.

Meanwhile, SuspiciousLock demonstrates a touch of death combo that Android 16 can do on his own, given 5 bars of meter (without having to use Sparking Blast).

Hacker imports Story Mode “Hidden Stage” into online battle versus Tekken 7 Korean player CherryBerryMango

CherryBerryMango, a popular Korean Tekken 7 streamer (and a tournament force worth reckoning, as evidence by his defeat of Chanel at the Tekken World Tour 2017) encountered a surprise when playing on the PC version of Tekken 7 versus a use appropriately named “HiddenStage.”

The stage, originally the story mode only setting for Alisa and Nina’s battle, is so narrow for a Tekken stage that it might be too claustrophobic for most tournament players. On the bright side, the stage has some nice, dramatic lightning from the back-lit industrial fan in the center. It’s impossible to say whether the stage was intended for competitive play and scrapped due to its size, or if it’s part of a future DLC pack.

The most interesting (and possibly troubling) thing about the hack is that it works for both parties. This hacker, after all, showed us the stage on CBM’s stream, whom as far as we know has not hacked the game.

Blanka, the Warrior of the Amazon, joins the Street Fighter V cast on February 20th

Happy Birthday Blanka! Just as the Brazilian beastman turns 52, Capcom have announced that he will be joining the Street Fighter V cast on February 20th. Retaining his primal and electrifying fighting style, Blanka comes to Arcade Edition with a brand new command grab and a special crouching stance.

His new command grab is called Wild Hunt, causing Blanka to leap forward and scratch at his opponent with his claws. His V-Skill is Coward Crouch, which has Blanka ducking down before returning to his neutral position. Blanka can low-profile fireballs while in Coward Crouch and he can act out of the stance by hitting either a Punch or Kick button. Wild Lift happens when you hit Punch, and it has Blanka swinging his arms up to launch his opponent. You can then follow up with either a normal, a special or even Blanka’s Critical Art. If you hit Kick, Blanka does his Raid Jump, causing him to leap high into the air.

His V-Trigger I is Jungle Dynamo, which increases the power of his rolling attacks and gives you access to additional follow-ups. His Electric Thunder also gets an attack boost and an animation change, having Blanka step forward before he discharges electricity. He also gains access to Ground Shave Rolling, which can be performed by hitting HK+HP and is a great combo extender.

Blanka’s V-Trigger II is Lightning Beast and gives Blanka access to a new special called Rolling Cannon. By pressing HK+HP and a direction, Blanka can roll in any direction he wants. You can combo into Rolling Cannon from any of his rolling attacks, turning Blanka into a deadly electrified pinball.

If you have the Season 3 character pass, you’ll get access to his Story, Battle and Nostalgia costumes. The Battle costumes will look very familiar — it’s the toy Sakura has hanging off her belt in her Story costume!

Arina romps through this Waku Waku 7 combo video

Rarely do you hear of Waku Waku 7 combo videos. While Sunsoft’s fighting game has a slight following, not much is heard of this retro title — possibly due to its obscurity and its limited roster of seven characters. However, the game has some interesting mechanics to toy around with.

In this video, we see Arina — a parody of manga characters — do some major damage thanks to Waku Waku 7’s charged supers. We also see a bit of mockery in the video with a bit of teabagging between dizzies.

21 Hits shares Aegislash Duel Phase combos for Pokkén Tournament DX

21 Hits’s latest combo video for Pokkén Tournament DX opens with the following text on the screen: “Get used to all the just frames in Aegislash’s moveset for optimal damage.” It isn’t kidding: Aegislash might be one of the game’s most technical characters.

While Pokkén players are still working out the neutral and meta of Pokkén’s latest DLC character, one thing is certain: you have to be on point to be worthy of wielding Aegislash. Just frames, stance switching, and buff-management are all required to get this sword’s momentum going.
