Find out what Zero’s fighting for with these solo combos for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

While he’s no longer at the very top of the tier list like he was in the game’s predecessor, Zero is still a threat in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.  The character is still considered one of the better characters in the moment, able to get in and do a lot of damage, and then set up for more damage afterwards.

For anyone looking to learn what Zero can do on his own, playergodaines has just shared a video focusing on solo combos for Zero — combos done without the help of a teammate being tagged in at the end for more damage. The combos below feature both bread and butter combos, as well as some more situational combos that can be useful if the Zero player finds them self in a situation to pull it off.

Watch Nappa brutalize his foes in this Dragon Ball FighterZ breakdown from Maximilian

While everyone has been fawning over characters like Hit, Adult Gohan and Goku Black, Nappa has become one of the lesser seen characters in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Well, Maximilian is here to the redress the balance with a Nappa gameplay breakdown, from his time at a special DBFZ preview event.

Despite his bulky frame, Nappa is not a grappler or armor-centric character — he is more of a setplay character through the use of his Saibamen. Similar to Jack-O’ in Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, Nappa can plant Saibamen into the ground, which will then pop up and start attacking the enemy automatically. These little green men cycle between three moves: a jumping slash, a low-hitting slide and then finally a command grab where the Saibaman explodes. If you use the Heavy version of the Saibaman summon, it gains a fourth attack where it spits a ball of goop at the opponent. While you can only have one Saibaman on screen, Nappa can plant a second one which will erupt from the ground once its partner has been downed. Nappa does not have to be on screen for the Saibaman to pop up — as long as it has been planted in the ground, it will appear no matter who is on screen.

As for Nappa’s specials, he has a two hit chop called Arm Break which can be super-cancelled, a counter-style move where Nappa yells the opponent and elbows them into the ground, along with his Blazing Storm projectile which can be performed both on the ground and in the air.

When you combine his Saibamen with other assists, I can imagine Nappa being a fantastic support character. Pair him with Piccolo’s Ki spheres and Beerus’ Cataclysmic Orbs, and you’ve got a team which can make the opponent terrified to push a button.

r/StreetFighter user unknowingly finds early copy of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

It seems like Capcom put out copies of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition a little too early. Flagged up by Reddit user dick_dickerson2004 on r/StreetFighter, he managed to (unknowingly) get his hands on SFV: AE ahead of its January 16th release. After buying what looked to be vanilla Street Fighter V, dickerson was able to play through all of the new Arcade Edition content — straight off the disk.

After Reddit users — quite rightly — questioned the veracity of dickerson’s claims, he posted a video (under the new name junkington) showing him playing through Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, complete with a glimpse at an updated Training Mode. One of the new features in Training Mode is the ability to show when a character is at frame advantage, which will be very useful for testing block-strings.

Based on the fact that the game box that junkington bought had no special Arcade Edition artwork on it, one can assume that new retail versions of Street Fighter V come preloaded with Arcade Edition content on them. As long as you don’t connect to PlayStation Network — and presumably download a patch which locks off the Arcade Edition content until the 16th — you seem to be able to play SFV: AE ahead of its general release.

It’s unknown at this time if this phenomenon is unique to a single store or if it is widespread, so exercise caution when buying up new copies of Street Fighter V — just to check if Arcade Edition is already loaded onto the disk.

Maximilian examines Goku Black’s divine brutality in this Dragon Ball FighterZ character breakdown

Following his recent trip to the Bandai Namco Entertainment America offices, Maximilian continues his breakdowns of some of the newest revealed characters in the rapidly-approaching Dragon Ball FighterZ, this time looking at the menacing Goku Black.

Max declares Goku Black to be the “Evil Ryu” of Dragon Ball FighterZ, in that he has the same model as Goku, but has a very different moveset. Max feels Goku Black will be a very tricky, albeit meter-intensive, well-rounded mixup character that can crack open adversaries quite easily, thanks to moves like the Binding Black Kamehameha, God Slicer and Instant Transmission.

God Slicer and Instant Transmission are great for opening people up, particularly with the Heavy/EX versions, which can lead to full-combos, while the Black Kamehameha and Fierce God Kick are standard fireball and divekick fare. As for his Supers, God Slicer Dance and the Holy Light Grenade appear to be solid 1-bar combo enders, despite their relatively low damage, with HLG potentially being screen size-dependent, which will do more damage and hits the higher you are in the air upon releasing it. His Level 3, The Work Of A God, also has a large amount of utility and ways to execute it.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC in most of the world on January 26th. A Japanese release will follow for the same platforms on February 1st. Keep your browser locked to Shoryuken, as Max is still releasing character breakdowns for the remaining members of the base roster at a steady pace.

Watch Evolution Guilty Gear champs Ogawa and Machabo face off in a FT10 at Kemonomichi

The Kemonomichi exhibition event provided plenty of thrills from a triad of games this week, but Guilty Gear fans had an epic first-to-ten set to feast on. Playing the Xrd REV 2 version, we get to see none other than the legendary Ogawa versus the amazing Machabo play each other in an hour-long, grueling set.

While Ogawa has always stuck to Eddie/Zato=1, Machabo has switched characters from time to time. Rather than Sin, he’s been seen using Ky Kiske in REV 2. Both players show mastery not only of their mechanics but also display years of practice in the most difficult Guilty Gear mechanics; precise Instant Blocking, backdashing, and air-throwing, among others. Ky is good at everything more of an all-around character than Zato=1, so there’s enormous strategy in managing his shadow, Eddie; Machabo is at a great disadvantage whenever Ogawa starts combined pressure and can only get out with some amazing blocks or is forced to Burst. Ky can dominate neutral however with good pokes and by taking Stun Edge shots at the shadow to take it out of the picture.

It’s Evolution Champion 2016 versus Evolution Champion 2015 in an epic set not to be missed; Ogawa goes on quite the winning streak and it seems like Machabo will fall behind, but he catches up. Check it out below, starting from about the 1 hr 06 min mark.

Hellpockets, Meta Abe, & Nakkiel help you get ready for Dragon Ball FighterZ in this Mt. Paozu Arcade episode

January is a big month for Dragon Ball FighterZ, aside from the fact that the game is launching on the 26th, it also has an incoming beta. This beta will be the first that will be open to the general public on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Suffice to say, anticipation for the game is at a fever pitch with many players chomping at the bit to finally get a chance to try it out. To help sate some of this (or further whet peoples’ appetites), the Mt. Paozu Arcade podcast returns with its first episode for 2018, where hosts Chris “Hellpockets” and Abraham “Meta Abe” Licon are joined by special guest Derek “Nakkiel” Bruscas.

Nakkiel is known as one a player who has put a lot of time into Dragon Ball FighterZ during the betas and demos. Combined with Hellpockets, who’s helped Bandai Namco demo the game on their videos, this represents a pretty significant amount of experience with the game in this podcast.

The podcast is available over at the GameGoons channel on Twitch. Catch it below!
