Street Fighter V has long been known for having impressive comebacks from just a sliver of health, or less. However, there are some epic ones that deserve to be celebrated, and this may be the final list of comebacks prior to the release of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, and most definitely the last one of 2017.
This video features some amazing comebacks from the likes of Imstilldadaddy, Infexious, MenaRD, Tokido, and Brolylegs, to name a few. It also features an epic loss where Infiltration falls victim to the power of the comeback.

The release — and first, the open beta — of Dragon Ball FighterZ is creeping ever closer, ready to hit the FGC with the force of a Spirit Bomb. DaPurpleSharpie wants to help us all keep track of the regular barrage of announcements coming out of Bandai Namco for the title, and has thus launched West City Weekly, a news digest show for Dragon Ball FighterZ, set to run every Monday at 8:00 PM ET (5:00 PM PT) on Stream.Me.

Thanks to the work of players like StormKubo, THE COOL KID93 and Infexious, more people have been seeing the potential of the Mad Gear motorhead, Abigail. With Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on the way and no doubt some new players taking Abigail for a spin, top UK Abigail xL|Infexious has put together a short video, giving players some top tips for learning this mountain of a man.
Despite his size, Abigail has multiple ways of approaching his opponent, whether it’s via his Nitro Charge run, his Giant Flip, his jump, dash or his grounded roll. Mixing up these options and conditioning your opponent into expecting a particular approach is key to playing Abigail, as it only takes one opening to wipe out most of your opponent’s health bar.
You will need to spending some time in Training Mode to maximize Abigail’s damage though, as his combos are quite tricky to pull off — especially when in V-Trigger. Infexious advises that you prioritize learning one V-Trigger combo and a handful of setups, so you can make the most of any gap in your opponent’s defenses.
Finally, Infexious imparts the importance of match-up knowledge when playing Abigail. As the largest character in Street Fighter V, Abigail has real trouble dealing with projectile-heavy characters like Dhalsim and F.A.N.G. However, his plethora of command normals and specials mean that he does have the tools to fight against these characters, provided you have done your homework.
Arc System Works is looking to kick off the new year with a bang next month with the Arc System Work Fighting Game Award 2017. The second installment of this now-yearly event will feature two double-elimination, eight-player tournaments in both BlazBlue: Central Fiction and Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, with each lineup being filled by a collection of past champions from various events throughout the past year.
To give fans a better look at these 16 competitors, ASW has released a pair of “Entries’ introduction” videos, showcasing the players and their characters for each game — as well as interviewing them about their thoughts for the upcoming battles. For those of who don’t speak Japanese, you can see English subtitles of the interviews by turning on closed captions. It’s also great to see some of these players going about their daily lives outside of the games, with a style of presentation very reminiscent of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s pre-match video packages. Sega has released yet another character and virtuaroid trailer for their upcoming crossover mech arena fighter Toaru Majutsu no VIRTUAL-ON. This time, the trailer focuses on Toaru Majutsu no Index‘s secondary science side protagonist Accelerator, and the virtuaroid Specineff “Rusty Blood.”
Originally starting out as an antagonist, Accelerator eventually becomes a secondary protagonist in Toaru Majutsu no Index after being defeated by main protagonist Kamijou Touma. The virtuaroid he pilots in the game is the RVR-87/VSL Specineff “Rusty Blood,” who VIRTUAL-ON: Oratorio Tangram veterans will remember as that game’s glass cannon assassin virtuaroid. The “Rusty Blood” variant is new to this game and the trailer below shows off some of the things it can do.
Toaru Majutsu no VIRTUAL-ON launches on PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 on February 15. For any interested players, a demo can be downloaded for either system at the Japanese PlayStation store.
This year marked the 20th anniversary of Vampire Savior: Lord of Darkness, a.k.a. Darkstalkers 3, and the game continues to enjoy a cult following in different fighting game scenes around the world. At Northeast Championships 18 earlier this month, NYC VSav managed to capture footage from the tournament along with some first-to-10 sets with the top-placing players.
Vampire Savior has been added to season two of Burst League, an open circuit of anime fighting game tournaments primarily focused in North America. Since September of this year 20 VSAV tournaments have been included in Burst League, including NEC18. The game will also be one of 30 titles at Frosty Faustings X next month, Jan. 19 to Jan. 20.

Some of the most involved and intricate combos in Street Fighter V belong to Rose’s apprentice, Menat. This is thanks to her V-Trigger, Wisdom of Thoth, a crucial aspect of Menat’s moveset for advanced play.
Menat’s high-resource, high-reward playstyle means it’s all the more important to fully cash out on your combo damage when the opportunity presents itself. With the right effort, the extent of your rewards can be pretty crazy: as perfectfaro shows in this video, Menat gets insane damage off of Crush Counters, particularly if she’s already in V-Trigger. With one EX bar and a lot of execution, she can stun the 900-point stun meter of Cammy, or simply chose to go straight into super, if it’s available.
ARIKA’s Fighting EX Layer beta may be gone for now, but it has left the community with a distinct idea of what the storied Japanese developer has been building up to. With only a short time to explore the game’s beta, Fighters Generation was among to the many excited EX series fans to jump in and capture footage.
Fighters Generation’s focus was not finding infinites — of which there were plenty already acknowledged by ARIKA going in — but to find tech and combos representative of ARIKA’s current direction. In that light, this combo video is a great intro to anyone that missed the beta. The kid version of esports videographer Esteban Martinez made anime music videos on Windows Movie Maker. He probably didn’t think it would lead to anything — he just made what he liked. Years later, he’s worked as a videographer for the Tekken World Tour, Capcom Cup, and has just started a partnership with Danny O’Dwyer’s NoClip to produce an FGC documentary. You never know where your passions will take you.

After releasing character trailers featuring the main protagonists of various numbered Final Fantasy games, Square Enix’s latest Dissidia Final Fantasy NT trailer goes down a different path. The new trailer focuses on what they call “heresy warriors” from various games in the series.
The characters featured in the trailer below are a collection of villains and anti-heroes, most of whom have gone against the established order of things. This makes for an interesting situation, where certain characters such as Final Fantasy Tactics protagonist Ramza Beoulve gets mixed in with Final Fantasy VII villain Sephiroth.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is set to arrive on PlayStation 4 on January 11 in Japan, and January 30 in North America and Europe.
