Goku and Vegeta enter the World Tournament Arena with these Dragon Ball FighterZ character intro videos

With Bandai Namco Entertainment’s and Arc System Work’s Dragon Ball FighterZ set for a February 2018 release, Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe looks to keep the hype train rolling by releasing brief character introduction videos on each and every member of the game’s roster — starting with the iconic pure-blooded Saiyan duo of Goku and Vegeta.

These brief character trailers serve to highlight each character’s Dragon Rush, as well as several of their super combos, intros and win poses; similar to the trailers released for Future Trunks, and Goku and Vegeta’s Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan forms. You can see both videos below.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released in February 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC, with both a standard and CollectorZ Edition. The closed beta test will run on September 16th and 17th, with sign-ups already open. A second — open — beta will be held closer to the game’s full release.

Beyond The Summit announce Smash Summit 5, running from November 2nd-5th

With an anime-esque reveal trailer, Beyond the Summit has announced the fifth iteration of its illustrious Super Smash Bros. Melee invitational. Running from November 2nd to 5th, Smash Summit 5 will see 16 players battling it out to stop Armada winning for the fifth time in a row.

Along with the eight invitees and the six fan-voted players, Beyond the Summit will invite two wildcards to this season’s event. The highest placing, non-invited player at either The Big House 7 or GT-X will be automatically invited to Smash Summit 5, skipping the stressed voting stage.

Seeing as he is on the cusp of a five-peat, Armada is naturally the first invitee for Smash Summit 5. Beyond the Summit will be announcing the remaining seven invitees over the next week or so, with the opt-in stage of player voting beginning on September 20th.

Rising Up: Menat Bread and Butter Combo Guide — Punishes, Confirm Combos, Juggles, & More

Menat, the Egyptian fortune teller and apprentice to series veteran Rose, has made her playable debut in Street Fighter V. Her gameplay style is fully unique, and is a long-awaited departure from the rushdown character archetypes that litter SFV. Because she’s so different from the rest of the cast, it’s taken me a while to compile her optimal combos. Here are your best bread and butter combos that I’ve found for every common scenario, so players can focus on developing her optimal strategies without worrying about combos. This video features anti-airs, punishes, confirms, counter-hit combos, crush counter combos, juggles, and more.

This is not the full Menat tutorial I’m working on, but rather simply a guide to her basic optimal combo routes. The combos are all my own labwork, alongside a few things I’ve observed from other players. Unlike most videos I’ve done, I’m absolutely certain many of the combos I show are not fully damage optimal, but because Menat’s combos are very easy to drop in a high stress environment, and because easier versions of her combos lose only a very small amount of damage compared to her optimal ones, the combos I show draw a balance between being very simple and consistent while being close to optimal. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone watching to point out other potential combo routes in the comments, for both me and the other players, so that I can amend it into the final video when it comes out.

Remember to subscribe to the Shoryuken channel, and keep an eye out for future videos!

Daigo Umehara will hold a three-man Super Street Fighter II Turbo showdown on his stream on Thursday

Hx.CYG BST|Daigo Umehara is considered a legend in many games, with Super Street Fighter II Turbo being one of them. While not much has been seen of Daigo playing the game in recent years, he seems to be back on the cabinets, showing what made him the legend he is today. He has already been confirmed to be playing the game at Canada Cup 2017 in October, and it looks like he is serious in training to take the crown from defending champion Mattsun.

On Thursday evening in Japan at 8:00 PM (7:00 AM ET in America), Umehara will be hosting a Super Turbo challenge on his Twitch stream. Taking part in the three-man battle royale will be Daigo alongside Kurahashi and Ogou — two of the best Guiles and Sagats in Japan, respectively. Who will come out on top? Make sure you tune in while you eat your breakfast Thursday morning!

Cause trauma to your opponents in The King of Fighters XIV with these Sylvie combos

As one of the new characters in The King of Fighters series, Sylvie hasn’t seen much in the way of serious play over the year. Perhaps it’s her aesthetics, or perhaps it’s her gameplay itself. However, her damage potential is insane, and should not be ignored within the competitive landscape of The King of Fighters XIV.

This combo exhibition showcases what Sylvie can do at every level of meter, from 0 bars to 5 bars. She has lots of potential, getting her opponents down to nearly a magic pixel with full meter.

MK_REO demonstrates the ability to duck under Green Arrow’s Hurricane Bow in Injustice 2

It’s really easy for an odd hitbox interaction to slip past a developer. When you consider the “Number of Characters” multiplied by “the Number of Unique Moves” each character has, it becomes a complicated web to hitboxs and hurtboxs to keep track of.

So it’s likely not intentional that 8 characters (Sub-Zero, Catwoman, Cheetah, Batman, Flash, Scarecrow, Starfire, and Black Canary) in Injustice 2 can duck under the mid-hitting flip in Green Arrow’s meter-burned special move, “Hurricane Bow.” As MK_REO demonstrates, if you’re ready for this interaction you can get a full juggle against the crime-fighting archer, regardless of whether he spends meter or not. One wonders what else the lower crouching hurtboxs of these 8 characters can go under.

[Note: This interaction may not have survived the version 1.08 patch.]

Juri can do a double medium Fuharenkyaku in combos in Street Fighter V

One of the most interesting changes about Juri from Street Fighter IV to Street Fighter V have been the alterations to what she “stores” in the game. Whereas in the former game, she stored fireballs but had to hold the button she used to release the fireball, in Street Fighter V she stores different moves (including non-fireballs) but must input the motion again to unleash it.

This would require her to have a charge of a move in order to release it, which is impossible in the midst of a combo. However, with the use of her V-Trigger — which doesn’t remove her charges when Fuharenkyaku is used — she can use multiples of the same special strength when transitioning from V-Trigger to out of V-Trigger. This opens up her combo potential a little more, in an albeit situational way.

Mitchel explains Pokkén Tournament’s passive Synergy Armor mechanics and Burst properties

With a little over 2 weeks of wait time before Pokkén Tournament DX’s official release on the Nintendo Switch, now is a good time to revisit some important series-specific mechanics for new players. Mitchel recognized this and made a great primer for Pokkén‘s super system, the Synergy gauge.

Synergy activation grants a passive armor versus light attacks, making it a valuable and unique pressure tool. However, with knowledge, there are ways to counter-play it, such as using a support that gives an attack buff. The same can be said for “Bursts,” Pokkén’s version of supers. Each Burst in the game has different types of armor and properties, which Mitchel diagrams. Once you know what each Burst does, it’s a lot easier to make smart offensive decisions versus the otherwise terrifying Synergy Burst mechanic.

Stuck spinning your wheels in Street Fighter V ranked? Fighter’s Dojo helps you move in this tutorial

Let’s go ahead and preface this — online play is no replacement for quality offline play. Street Fighter V ranked matches, however, can help you learn and give you a sense of achievement when you do level up.

A lot of people, however, are perpetually stuck in a purgatory of silver or lower. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Fighter’s Dojo takes on some of the glaring issues that players have that simply don’t rank up, and gives a road map on the fundamentals it takes to rank up properly. He breaks it down to memorizing three or four basic combos, learning to anti-air properly, and learning good habits within matches.
