After recapping the story of the first three games last month, Bandai Namco Entertainment America completes its effort to recap the franchise’s lore — for players looking to witness the end of The Mishima Saga — with Part 2 of the “Tekken Retro Recap.”

Once again, Dutton Films Animation provides a nostalgic 8-bit, sprite-based, RPG-style recap, this time for Tekken 4-6. Events such as Heihachi being caught in the middle of a clash between Jin and Kazuya’s Devil forms, Jinpachi being surprisingly accepting of being killed by Jin before his possessed form wrecks havoc, Kazuya and Heihachi’s back-to-back battle against a horde of Jack-4’s, and epic battles against Azazel are hilariously spoofed. Catch the video below to complete your primer on the history on Tekken lore, and have another good laugh.

Tekken 7 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam.

Prepare for battle in Injustice 2 with some help from these videos!

Tekken 7 may be drawing some of the new ‘n’ shiny attention away from Injustice 2, but there’s still new videos turning up to help you battle with the best out there. For example: VesperArcade has continued covering the cast with combo vids to help beginners learn the ropes; here’s one for Dr. Fate, and another for Cyborg.

Tekken 7 can be a tough nut to crack, as the game’s multitude of match-ups and long combos provide quite a bit to study. If you’ve been eyeing the Mishima family and want to get better with Kazuya, we’ve got some combo videos to do just that.

legendaryMihawk opens up with a good primer on a wide breadth of Kazuya combos. They show off various starters, and include combos from counter-hits. Each one of them is showed twice, the second time in slow motion and with the required inputs shown on screen. The latter combos dive into wall sequences and Rage Art enders.

Will Guy’s former master be joining the Street Fighter V roster this year?

As noted previously, the appearance of the Fortune Teller in Ed’s story mode — probably named Menat — has lent credibility to a leaked Season 2 character roster (originally distributed by “flowtron”) that named the three fighters bound for Street Fighter V to be Menat, Abigail, and Zeku. VesperArcade has already discussed Menat and Abigail; now he turns his attention to the last potentially leaked addition, Guy’s Bushin-ryu instructor Zeku.

Based on the far-right silhouette in the promo images shown (see above), many speculated that the last fighter was Garuda from the Street Fighter EX franchise, VesperArcade included. However, it has been clearly stated that the Arika characters are not available to Capcom, presently. You can see in the video below that Zeku’s previous character art does not match up as well with the silhouette as Menat or Abigail, but isn’t so far removed as to rule it out.

VesperArcade stresses that the apparent accuracy of the leak itself — calling out Akuma and Ed out in advance, combined with how neatly Menat and Abigail fit — make the strongest case for Zeku. His storyline post-Street Fighter Alpha 2 would easily account to any change in his appearance, as well as allowing for his return after being defeated by his disciple. It’s a long road down to perfect movement mastery in Tekken. Virtua Fighter player rooflemonger himself admits as much in his latest video: “It’s a very deep ocean. You have to work a lot harder for your backdash than other 3D fighters.”

He is, of course, referring to the Korean Backdash, a technique perhaps too overwhelming for a first time Tekken player. rooflemonger’s movement guide gives a very brief, quick explanation of how dashing while standing and sidestep canceling works. For beginners, this is a great place to start — especially if you want to learn to improve your backdash speed quickly, even though you’re not ready to do the KBD yet.

After a long series of delays and CFN beta tests, Street Fighter V’s massive Season 2.5 update finally launched on May 30th, bringing with it a slew of new features, as well as shaking up the competitive meta with lots of balance changes — including health adjustments and new moves for several members of the cast. In order to get players up to speed, CrossUPDP has recapped all of the changes, character by character, in his latest video. After demonstrating each, he provides some hilarious commentary on how he feels each fighter made it out of the update. You can see the full video below!

Some of the hypest moments in Guilty Gear can only happen under certain conditions: you have high-level, competitive play, there’s an audience for it, and commentary. Obviously, crazy moments happen all the time, regardless of all those–but when matches are broadcasted to an audience that can respond to what’s going on, they highlight the moments like no other.
