Just in case there was any doubt about damage in the console version of Tekken 7, YouTuber strider0317 is here to lay your worries to rest.

Life bars in Tekken 7 are 170 in total, to help you put these combos in perspective. That means that the 143 damage combo above is a ridiculous 84% of your opponents health. Of course, it’s stage, resource, and positioning specific–but it’s still there. Take notes from these as you go in to June 2nd- always aim for the wall!

Get competitive with this advanced tactics tutorial for The King of Fighters XIV

The King of Fighters series has a reputation for being one of the more technically-demanding ground-based fighters. As such, many people are put off from trying to play the game’s latest iteration–The King of Fighters XIV–competitively.

To help address this, Gillstolemyride has been doing a series of tutorial videos for The King of Fighters XIV. The latest installment of this tutorial series focuses on advanced tactics. Specifically, it goes over safe bypasses, punishes, safe jumps, option selects, as well as even more seemingly complex concepts such as backdashing and jumping through strings, guard cancelling through strings, and differing kinds of buffering tricks.

The video below is quite long, over an hour! Happily, Gillstolemyride has included timestamps–which we’ve added below.

Final Showdown celebrates Marvel vs. Capcom 2’s Hayato with a new combo video

Clayton “Final Showdown” Chapman is one of the people keeping old games such as Marvel vs. Capcom 2 alive, thanks to his combo videos. In particular, he’s taken a shining to Hayato, who he’s done a lot of work with (including a new infinite combo concept). Now, he’s come up with a new combo video for the Star Gladiator character.

The video below is interesting in that Final Showdown has an arbitrary limitation of not using any assists, nor any bugs and glitches, to keep the combos going. In other words, all the combos here, including a few kill combos, are done only with what the game’s developers intended, and without help from teammates.

Beyond arcade-perfect: Digital Foundry takes a look back at SoulCalibur

While not as competitively-respected as its sequel, the original SoulCalibur is a game that can be considered a milestone in the history of fighting games. While most fighting game home conversions in the 1990s simply aimed to be arcade-perfect, Namco aimed for more when bringing SoulCalibur from their PSX-based System 12 to Sega’s Dreamcast console.

It’s this conversion from the original System 12 arcade version to the Sega Dreamcast of SoulCalibur that Digital Foundry’s John Linneman takes a look at in the latest installment of DF Retro. Here, he goes into great technical detail on how the game was visually upgraded when it was rebuilt (in just 7 months) for Sega’s brand-new console. In addition to this, the video also covers the game’s newer ports on both the Xbox 360 and iOS devices.

Red Hood is coming to Injustice 2 next month

Thanks to someone at Warner Bros. being a little too quick on the trigger, we’ve finally seen Red Hood in action for Injustice 2. Most likely being former Robin Jason Todd returned from the grave, Red Hood wields a deadly arsenal of explosive mines, shurikens and knives alongside his dual pistols.

Rather than being strictly a zoner much like Deadshot, Red Hood works best at the mid-range, mixing opponents up with his explosives and gun-kata style attacks. He has a forward dive which has him firing off both guns at once, along with an air throw where he sticks an opponent with a mine before detonating it. He even has a meter-burn special where he bounces an unloaded gun off his opponent, loads it and then shoots them in the face.

His trait seems to have him activating special shock pads on the bottom of his guns, turning them into tasers. Red Hood looks like he can activate these shock pads mid-string, allowing him to continue a combo. From first glance, I’m getting flashbacks to Batgirl’s shock gauntlets in the original Injustice and those are memories I would like to forget.

His super has Red Hood chucking his whole arsenal of weapons at his opponent. He blows them into the air with a grenade, juggles them with gunfire, attaches a mine to their back and then makes them explode with a well-placed bullet to the spine. There is truly no kill like overkill.

Based on the marketing material at the end of the trailer, Red Hood will be available in June for those who either already own the Injustice 2 Ultimate Editon, or have bought character pack 1.

NEV shows off Microwalk combos off of Ryu’s Solar Plexus in Street Fighter V

Some of the most difficult combos you can do in a fighting game involve ‘Microwalks’, which is a slight forward advancement to compensate for push-out on hit. Youtuber NEV shows off his take on these difficult links with his latest Ryu video.

The combos here take advantage of Ryu’s Solar Plexus, a classic attack that grants Ryu a large amount of frame advantage on hit, but also pushes the opponent away. NEV’s Microwalk combos have him walk as little as two frames to compensate, allowing him to pump out higher and flashier damage then you might normally see for the World Warrior.

Eagle will join Killer Instinct’s roster in June

Teased during Killer Instinct Top 8 at Combo Breaker, the 29th character for Killer Instinct will be Chief Thunder’s brother, Eagle. Kidnapped by Ultratech and used at the human base for the prototype Fulgore MK3 unit, Eagle joins Killer Instinct as a cybernetic warrior who fights with a bow and a robot bird companion.

Based on the incredibly brief teaser, Eagle is an archer character who will seemingly have a finite number of arrows to use in battle. I can imagine his arrow count may be similar to Arbiter’s ammo count on his carbine, but with his bird companion either summoning or retrieving arrows that miss their target. Eagle is set to be released in June, so we’ll update you with more news about Eagle once we get a full trailer and a character breakdown.

Turn Megaman’s Metal Blade against him with these counter combos for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Since the discovery of the now famous Kamecombo, Megaman’s Metal Blade is a move that inspires pure fear. You drop shield or jump at the wrong time when the Blue Bomber is holding this item, and that could be the end of your stock.

In order to counter this serrated weapon, the Beefy Smash Doods have gone into the lab to discover combos that other characters can perform using Megaman’s Metal Blade. Seeing as it is an item that Megaman can drop, different fighters can pick up the Blade and start using it for their own purposes. For this video, the Beefy Smash Doods only go through the top row of the character select screen, but they may continue their experiments should people enjoy this video.

Luigi is the only character with absolutely no follow-ups, while other characters like Wario, Peach and Bowser require very specific setups to capitalize off the Metal Blade.
