Capcom Shows Off Footage of “The Way of the Hado” Mode for Ultra Street Fighter II

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers has been confirmed to have a first person mode, and Capcom has now shown off this mode in action on the latest episode of CapcomTV. Named “The Way of the Hado,” this mode is more like a rail shooter than a fighting game, with players throwing fireballs and Shoryukens at incoming Shadaloo soldiers.

Taking advantage of the Nintendo Switch’s JoyCons, players can actually throw a Hadouken by doing the famous pose while having a JoyCon in each hand. By aiming at portions of the screen, you can chuck plasma in different directions and even throw a Metsu Hadouken once the Super bar at the bottom of the screen has filled. If enemies get too close, you can also perform a Shoryuken by throwing your fist into the air.

The mode reuses assets from Street Fighter IV, but the motion controls are unfortunately looking a bit iffy. While maybe a bit of fun for a few minutes, “The Way of the Hado” has the look of a novelty to play once and then forget about, at this point.

You can watch the footage in the video below (and do note that the audio somehow desyncs during this segment, so don’t worry about your computer being on the blink).

The Jump-in Podcast Talks about Street Fighter V’s Impending Patch, Marvel at Evo, & Capcom’s Direction

The Jump-in Podcast is back with another episode, and this one keeps up with their interesting discussion with somewhat of an unpopular opinion.

First off, they talk about Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s inclusion at Evo 2017 through the Player’s Choice Vote. Given that the series has not missed a year at Evo, they talk about how huge it is for the series to keep its streak alive, but also go into the concept that the Player’s Choice proves that community unity is a mere illusion.

But, then they also talk about Street Fighter V Season 2: whereas there’s been a lot of argument on how Capcom has handled the changes, they believe that is up to Capcom, not us, to dictate how the game is played, and for us to play accordingly.

Phenom Talks about the US Travel Ban and Street Fighter V Season 2 with Michael Martin

Arman “Phenom” Hanjani has had a rough couple of weeks. With the introduction of President Trump’s immigration ban, he has seen a lot of question marks placed on his Capcom Pro Tour season. With the blocking of the ban though, things could actually be looking up for him.

Michael Martin from Yahoo Esports sat down to talk with him; they discuss the travel ban, plus the season 2 changes, where Phenom says he isn’t enjoying the game as much as he did in season 1. While he felt that his original main of M. Bison has gotten stronger, he did say that he believes that the patch is “just balancing an already bad game,” which adds further fuel to the fire of top players’ disdain for the season 2 changes.

Catch Up on Skullgirls 2nd Encore with These Tech Videos and Optimized Combo Routes

With the game essentially being finished, Skullgirls players have been having more time to delve deeper and deeper into the gameplay, discovering new setups, more damaging combos, and grimier resets. Here we have a small collection of what the community has been uncovering in recent days.

First up we have a really cool tag combo, utilizing Valentine’s hitstun poison to tag into Robo-Fortune and still continue the combo. Valentine’s hitstun/green poison increases the hitstun of every attack by a significant amount, which makes this possible. The combo isn’t optimized, but does well in showing off what is possible.

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll have noticed the final gameplay change to Skullgirls has undergone testing. The primary reason for this testing was because the community discovered just how optimal resets could be, and 3v3 teams were capable of killing with only one reset. While this problem is being addressed, below we have some combos showing off exactly why this needed to change.

First up is Mr.Peck, with a Peacock+Robo Fortune kill setup.

Next he posted a Peacock corner combo. While it isn’t a one-reset kill combo, doing this much damage at max undizzy (the green bar under the health that restricts combo length) is part of the problem being addressed in the next patch.

We also have some combos from Twitter, showing off just how much damage optimal combo routes can get in Skullgirls.

Lastly, we have a few combos from both cR|dekillsage and Echo Fox|SonicFox, the two best Skullgirls players today, showing off a lot of the crazy reset-into-death combos that were being uncovered. Most of these will be less potent and/or won’t kill after the next update, but they’re still cool.

Liu Kang Catches Fire in This Mortal Kombat XL Combo Video

Liu Kang has been one of the perennial faces of the Mortal Kombat franchise since its inception. He is one of the most recognizable characters in the series, and he is always well-represented early on by players picking up the game for nostalgia.

In this combo video, we see Liu Kang seriously burn his opponents. We get to see all three of his variations on display; whereas a lot of combo videos for the game usually end up with corner juggles, we get to see a lot of Liu Kang corner carries from midscreen here.

Think Jill Valentine in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Could Use More Love? Check Out This CMV & Tutorial

2017 seems to be becoming the year of Marvel: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is now available on current gen consoles, and the prior version’s lost DLC fighters are restored. This is before even the “last hurrah” it’s getting at Evo 2017 before the new Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite drops and takes the world by Storm (whether or not she’s in the game).

As far as UMvC3 goes, one character who never really found a solid foothold in the meta was Jill Valentine, which was accented by her DLC’s removal in the prior version (along with Shuma-Gorath). There have always been fans of the character however, and here we see one such fan, HaileyLov3sP1nK, in action. Below we have both a series of fun combos, mostly featuring her in some capacity, and a tutorial for the character.

UltraDavid Analyzes Daigo Umehara’s Season 2 Ryu from Street Fighter V Online Matches

Note: Spoilers ahead for Topanga League! If you were planning on avoiding results for Topanga League, you should turn back now…

After HyperX|Daigo Umehara’s uncharacteristically poor performance in the Topanga League Round Robin, UltraDavid brings his analytical skills to some online Daigo sets. Daigo is certainly no weak opponent, but UltraDavid suspects that some of his habits, broken down and shown over several games, may reveal a player that hasn’t adjusted to the active and aggressive nature of Season 2. And, of course, Ryu’s various nerfs and vastly different game-plan are discussed in terrific detail.

Matches analyzed include Daigo vs. Narikun’s Ibuki, Galtu’s Bison, Iwate’s Bison, Crusher’s Birdie, and 200Won’s R. Mika.

Watch Mega Man Cut Through the Competition in This Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Combo Video

Mega Man was a surprise entrant into top 8 at Evolution 2016. Even more shocking that he made it all the way to Grand Finals in the hands of Japan’s Kamemushi. But the Blue Bomber has more than just a few tricks up his sleeve.

With the variety of boss weapons he has at his disposal in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Mega Man has amazing combo potential. He can go long range with his Cut Man weapon. He can combo with his grab using the Leaf Man weapon. He can even give his opponents a lift with his Air Man weapon. All of this is put on full display in this excellent combo video.

Urien Giving You Trouble? Watch This Street Fighter V Tutorial from Dr.Fatbody & Cross Counter TV

A lot of low-to-intermediate players struggle in every game with common tactics from strong characters. They’re usually tactics that force the opponent to respect them, or force the opponent to play differently than they’re used to. Such tactics are sometimes called overpowered, cheap or nerf-worthy, but simply understanding those options and how to beat them can make a world of difference in dealing with problem characters.

The folks over at Cross Counter TV, specifically Dr.Fatbody, saw to it to start a series based around learning to get around the common tactics for different characters. This video covers the 3 essential things every player needs to learn to deal with, in order to not get blown up by every Urien. Those 3 things: whiff-punishing Headbutt, baiting and punishing EX Headbutt reversals, and knowing how to deal with wakeup Aegis Reflectors.

Enter the Danger Room and check out the video on Cross Counter’s site here.
