With the release of Dead or Alive 6 fast approaching, Koei Tecmo Games and Team NINJA have revealed that series veteran Cyborg Raidou will be returning to the latest installment of the franchise. The original antagonist of the DOAfranchise, Raidou was thought to have perished following the conclusion of the original DEAD OR ALIVE tournament, but his body was recovered by DOATEC — who, using experimental biotechnology, revived him as a mindless cyborg who was stronger than ever, and returned in Dead or Alive 5: Last Round. You can see his gameplay trailer — where he battles Hayate — below.
His trailer description reads: “With Mugen Tenshin Ninjutsu as a base, he uses his mimicry skills to copy various powerful moves of other styles as well. He favors a power-focused fighting style, making use of his colossal physique, using both moves stolen from others, and his own, such as the Tenho-Gorai-Sho and the Rekku-Jinraisatsu … without a mind of his own, he has now devolved into a madman who only craves strength and destruction.”
Cyborg Raidou joins Kasumi, Hayate, Ayane, Ryu Hayabusa, Bass and Tina Armstrong, Bayman, Brad Wong, Christie, Eliot, Helena Douglas, Hitomi, Honoka, Jann Lee, Kokoro, Mila, Leifang, La Mariposa, Marie Rose, Rig, Zach, newcomers Diego and NiCO, as well as pre-order DLC characters Nyotengu and Phase-4, bringing the current roster up to 26 characters, with more to be added as DLC.
Dead or Alive 6 will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam on Friday, March 1st, 2019 — with regular, digital, and digital deluxe editions.
The MK3veteran has been slightly retooled to have his normals and strings focus more on his iconic hookswords than ever before, giving Kabal great reach and large footsie buttons to control neutral, in a similar vein to Skarlet. His low buzzsaws have returned, with the addition of an aerial version that replaces his iconic Gas Blasts (which have been removed in favor of Kabal utilizing a stationary cloud of gas that will do damage over time to his foes as long as they are standing in it, and will also disable their ability to jump). The former police officer’s Nomad Dash also returns granting him a rare meter less combo starter, that should prove very potent in the competitive meta. His fatality is also fittingly gruesome, as Kabal uses his speed to drag his opponent across the floor, ripping their face off before shredding them with his blades. You can see his full trailer, as well as the full Kombat Kast breakdown which also featured a look at Geras, below. It was also announced that a new female combatant will be revealed on the Kombat Kast next Thursday, February 14th, at 3:00 PM CT. Personally, I expect to see a member of the Edenian trio of Kitana, Mileena, or Jade, but we’ll find out together in eight days.
Shortly after the Kombat Kast’s conclusion, it was revealed on Inside Xbox that the female Kytin D’Vorah would be returning from Mortal Kombat XL, sporting a new look that gives an ever more insect-like appearance. Ed Boon has confirmed she will not be the female shown on the next Kombat Kast, but you can view her announcement below. Kabal and D’Vorah join Scorpion, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Skarlet, Baraka, Kano, and newcomer Geras, bringing the current known roster up to 10.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 23rd. However the European Switch version has been delayed until May 10th. An online beta will also be held sometime in March.
Despite a lack of updates or a new version of Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, the community continues to support the game! One way to catch some high-level action is through Silva and zenzen’s exhibition series Tension Pulse. The series had a great run in 2018, and today marks its return, so make sure to not miss it.
Tonight, it’s a slightly different format than in the past. Fighters from the North American region will fight each other in a FT5 round-robin style. We have PepperySplash using Venom, TheArm fighting with Ramlethal, BxA|dotNova with Jack-O’, and BxA|Blaze with Raven. It will be interesting to see how each of those characters fares against one another.
BxA|Sway and RaphTx will man the commentator stations, keeping up the hype and explaining the action as it goes. The exhibition takes place tonight, at 9:00 PM ET/8:00 PM CT/6:00 PM PT on Silva_Hime’s Twitch channel.
We’re back (again) with more Guilty Gear sets and a new format! @PepperySplash, @TheArm05, @dot_Nova, and @tsb_blaze will be competing in a FT5 round robin! Tune in for this special episode of #TensionPulse on Tuesday, 2/5, at 9PM EST.
Ubisoft has pushed out a new live action trailer for Far Cry: New Dawn. New Dawn is the upcoming addition to the long-running series that takes place nearly 20 years after the events of Far Cry 5.

At the end of January, WB Games Brazil held a Mortal Kombat 11 reveal event in the country. Though the playable build was the same one used at The Reveal event last month –featuring already-announced Kombatants Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Dark Raiden, Sonya Blade, Baraka, Skarlet, and Geras — there was some exclusive news. Ed Boon announced that the leader of the Black Dragon clan and Mortal Kombat original Kano would be once again joining in the bloody carnage.
This version of Kano looks much slimmer than his Mortal Kombat XL counterpart, while only sporting a tattoo on a single arm rather than both like before, implying this could be a younger version of the Australian mercenary — likely brought about by Kronika’s time-bending.
Additionally, Kano will be receiving a special, free, regional-exclusive, alternate costume, that will only be available (for the time being at least), to players in Brazil. This “Kangaceiro” outfit sees Kano don a version of the trademark hat and leather jacket worn by a group of Northeastern Brazilian “social bandits” in the late 19th and 20th centuries, who would steal from the rich in an effort to oppose the poverty that defined the times. A vest of bullets can also be seen adorning the straps holding in his iconic chest piece. This will join Skarlet’s Russian-exclusive “Kold War” skin, which sees the blood mage dressed in the attire of a KGB agent. The Official Mortal Kombat Twitter account has also released his official character render, describing Kano as, “Greed personified.” You can see both pieces of artwork below, as well as a video of Ed Boon announcing Kano at the event.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be released worldwide, on Tuesday, April 23rd, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. However, the Switch version has unfortunately been delayed in Europe, until Friday, May 10th.
Take a look at all of the system mechanic changes as DBFZ powers up for Season 2!
Following the conclusion of this past weekend’s 2018/2019 Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Finals at Red Bull: Final Summoning, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced the beginning of Season 2 for the team-based title. In addition to the FighterZ Pass 2, which includes Jiren, Videl, the Dragon Ball Super incarnation of Broly, SSGSS Gogeta, and two more mystery warriors yet to be announced, a new balance patch was applied to the game to alter some of its fundamental system mechanics. Though there were no character-specific changes made within this update, many aspects of the current meta have been altered — such as notably improved defensive options (with longer backdashes and increased Guard Cancel invincibility), reduced blue life in an attempt to quicken the pace of matches, enhancements to Sparking Blast to increase its potency as a comeback mechanic, adjusted damage scaling on supers, tweaked Dragon Rushes, as well as reduced meter gain. Even Shenron’s “Make Me Immortal!” and “Revive My Allies!” wishes will now restore larger amounts of health, giving players ever more incentive to collect those Dragon Balls during the course of battle. You can view the full list of changes below.

Arlington’s Free Play Arcade is bringing arcade culture back to the modern FGC with four main events, four side tournaments, and authentic cabinet setups.
The fourth Spring Series is set to kick off at Free Play Arcade in Arlington, Texas, from April 12 – 14. These three days of competition will see eight events in total, all featuring classic games from the arcades’ golden age.
Main events include such titles as The King of Fighters XI with a $1,000 pot bonus, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 with a $1,000 pot bonus, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike with a $1,500 pot bonus — and finally, Super Street Fighter II Turbo with a whopping $10,000 pot bonus.
That’s not all: Free Play Arcade is also flying out five Japanese legends to take part in the competition… although the players in question have yet to be announced.
It is worth noting that the 3rd Strike tournament takes place on the recently-unveiled 20th anniversary Jazzy Circuit; for players participating in the series, this could be a prime opportunity to win a qualifying title and score some points!
Spring Series Four is the last in a series of satellite tournaments, with the first taking place at the hallowed grounds of NLBC on February 9, and the second throwing down at Don’s Arcade in Los Angeles on February 16.
Arlington isn’t just home to the Free Play Arcade, either. The city likewise unveiled its Esports Stadium in November of 2018, breathing life into Texas’s already bustling competitive gaming scene. Players looking to give the town a tour can register on the Spring Series’ website, or enter one of the two satellite tournaments for a chance at winning room and travel to the main event on April 12.
A tentative registration end date has been set for April 10.
