The World of Warcraft team has confirmed something that many players were concerned about. The upcoming 7.2.5 patch will feature class-specific rings that alter with spec and that are considered to be “best in slot” (BiS) for several classes / specs. Many had hoped that the ring would be awarded at the culmination of the class order hall quest line but the team has confirmed that rings will be found through random drops similar to any legendary in the game currently.

The World of Warcraft community site has been updated with a preview of the upcoming Legion raid, the Tomb of Sargeras. The blog contains both information about the raid bosses and encounters as well as some developer notes about the design process.

World of Warcraft US Community Manager Bret “Ornyx” Forbus and his response to a player has ignited a lengthy discussion on the forums after he responded to a player’s concerns about the artifact power grind in Legion. The most controversial reply he made to the player centers around what some perceive as “Armory shaming”.

Those folks over at Neogaf never fail to come up with fascinating nuggets of information. In the latest, a job posting on the Blizzard site seems to indicate that a Warcraft mobile title is in the works. The ad is for an FX artist for an “unannounced project at the company’s Irvine office”. The usual language is used about talent, experience and so forth. It is the final bullet point in Requirements that meets the eye: “Passion for creating imagery synonymous with the Warcraft IP”.

The latest round of legendary items has been added to the current World of Warcraft: Legion PTR build. The newest round added another twenty-seven legendary items, at least one per class. These are in addition to the thirteen added recently and the twelve legendary rings (one for each class with modifiers based on spec) already live on the PTR build.

One of the main features in World of Warcraft: Legion is the artifact weapon, a special expansion-only item for every class and spec in the game. As the player grows other equipment iLevels, the weapon earns “artifact power” up to and including Concordance of Legionfall, the penultimate ability for each one. It is a so-called “endless” trait. According to a new post on the WoW forums, “someone did the math” for how long it might take to fully fill out the trait.

A new World of Warcraft pet is now live in the game off the coast of Aszuna in the Broken Isles. Named Squirky, the new battle pet is a bright yellow Murloc. You can also get a “real life” version in the Blizzard Gear Store for $18.00.

The World of Warcraft team has posted news about a rather large “hotfix” being applied to the game today in North America and tomorrow in Europe. The hotfix involves the reduction of the Artifact Knowledge cap from 50 to 40.

The latest lore article on the World of Warcraft community site has been published, this time centered around the new king of Stormwind, Anduin Wrynn. It does contain a number of spoilers, most especially for Alliance characters, but also features some developer commentary about the creation of the story line as well as some profiles of notable Alliance leaders.

Christie Golden, author of more than a few World of Warcraft tie-in novels as well as some Starcraft novels, has joined Blizzard Entertainment. Tweeting out the news, Golden informed her followers that she is not at liberty to disclose her job title or description, but that she was happy to be working for the company with which she’s had so many dealings with in the past.
