The World of Warcraft Public Test Realm forum has been updated with a new post that informs testers of changes coming through the latest patch. Among other things, players will be able to see the introductory quests for returning to the Broken Shore, begin earning reputation with the new Legionfall faction, the continuation of the Order Hall campaign and check out the new Artifact Traits.
World of Warcraft – Ever Wanted to PvP a Dev? You Can Soon on PTR
Blizzard employees will be heading to the World of Warcraft public test server every Friday beginning February 3rd to take part in the new PvP feature coming with v7.2. Called PvP Brawls, the new type of activity is heavily influenced by brawl modes in other Blizzard titles including Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm. Brawls play fast and loose with normal PvP rules and may include a 15v15 battle in a standard-sized arena or perhaps no gravity in Eye of the Storm.
World of Warcraft – v7.2 Hits the PTR with Legion Flying, Pet Battle Dungeons
The World of Warcraft PTR has been updated to v7.2 for testing. The next major update to Legion will bring a number of interesting content to WoW including a special level 25 pet battle dungeon, tab targeting improvements, updated spell effects for Death Knights, Druids and Hunters. In addition, PvP players will be able to make improvements to gear via the Obliterum Forge in Dalaran.
World of Warcraft – Blizzard-Backed Cooking Show Begins in South Korea
Blizzard is teasing the palettes of South Korean World of Warcraft fans with a new television show that centers on cooking WoW-themed dishes. Called The Meal is Ready, the show is hosted by a well-known South Korean chef named Choi Hyun-seok, also a WoW fan. In addition to preparing cuisine themed around World of Warcraft, guests will discuss their time in game as well.
World of Warcraft – Blizzard Wins German Lawsuit Against Bot Maker
German site Mein-MMO.de is reporting that Blizzard has won its lawsuit agains Bossland GmbH, the maker of Honorbuddy, a bot used in World of Warcraft. Earlier court decisions that were in Bossland’s favor were overturned with the decision that “distribution of bot programs for online games is anti-competitive”. As yet, the full disclosure of the settlement has not been published.

World of Warcraft – Nostalrius Devs Ask New Server Hosts to Stop Using Code
In probably the weirdest twist of a story ever, the Nostalrius team has posted a request to the Elysium “development” team to stop using the World of Warcraft code that it gave to them. The code and database file were released in fulfillment of a threat when Blizzard did not bring up the topic of legacy servers during Blizzcon 2016. However, it seems that Nostalrius admins have had a change of heart.
World of Warcraft – Timewalking Raids Are (Maybe) a Thing in the Future
During a World of Warcraft live stream Q&A with Blizzard’s Paul Kubit, the discussion turned to timewalking, a feature that updates dungeons from past expansions to current content levels and that can provide an alternate way to level and gear up characters. During the overall discussion of the Pandaria dungeon timewalking, it was revealed that timewalking raids are probably arriving at some point but that balancing them for current content is challenging.
World of Warcraft – Legendary Upgrade to 940 Via Quest to Collect
The World of Warcraft community site has been updated with information about how players will be able to upgrade current iLevel 910 legendary items to iLevel 940 once The Nighthold raid goes live next week. Those with legendaries will be able to pick up a repeatable quest in Dalaran that sends them out to “collect a number of Essences of Aman’thul”, though the precise number was not revealed. Once done, a Distilled Titan Essence will be awarded that will raise the legendary iLevel.
World of Warcraft – Devs Backtrack & Disable Further Artifact Traits in PvP
The World of Warcraft team is on full defensive mode after the rocky deployment of patch 7.1.5 with its massive number of class / spec changes, legendary overhauls, secondary stats realignment and more. Patch notes sent out yesterday contained numerous errors and several alterations to systems and classes that had not been seen on the PTR. Community manager ‘Ornyx’ apologized for the patch notes disaster saying it would “NEVER happen again”.
