This weekend is the European World of Warcraft Arena Championship with winners heading to Blizzcon in November. Those who connect their Twitch.tv account to Blizzard can earn a special in-game title, “Patron of War”.

On the very day that World of Warcraft: Legion opened the first wing for LFR players hoping to complete a pair of quests, Blizzard belatedly announced that said quests can only be completed on Normal or higher level of raid difficulty. This has come straight out of the blue, according to players, as it was never part of alpha or beta testing and was not previously announced as “policy”.

Warcraft movie fans in the United States and Canada can now get hands on the Blu-Ray or DVD version of the movie that also includes digital bonus goodies for some of Blizzard’s other games if the physical version is purchased. Players will receive a Medivh hero in Heathstone, Gul’Dan in Heroes of the Storm and a digital copy of World of Warcraft with 30-days subscription time.

At least one major World of Warcraft developer has left Blizzard for good and one is on leave for the imprecise future. Senior Director for Story & Creative Development James Waugh has departed on good terms from the company while Lead Quest Designer Craig Amai is on leave for an indeterminate amount of time.

With the release of the first World of Warcraft: Legion raid approaching, Blizzard has taken the wraps off the Emerald Nightmare, an encounter that will pit players against seven ‘malignant’ bosses that now infest the once peaceful place of repose for Druids and the Green Dragon Flight.

Blizzard is keeping its promise to World of Warcraft players with today’s arrival of the Legion v7.1 update that includes the updated Karazhan mythic dungeon, an overhauled Nagrand PvP arena, 20th anniversary Diablo-themed game items, new mounts and much, much more.

One of the highlights of World of Warcraft: Legion is the upcoming Mythic Keystone system, the subject of a new developer blog post on the World of Warcraft community site. Mythic Keystones will begin dropping in the game on September 20th.

It was exactly eleven years ago today that the infamous Corrupted Blood Incident happened in World of Warcraft. What’s that, you say? Starting September 13, 2005, the infection of corrupted blood that spawned out of the Zul’Gurub raid from Hakkar the Soulflayer remained on pets and minions when it was supposed to have fallen off after a short period of time. As a result, the corruption of DOOM spread throughout Azeroth for over a week.
