World of Warcraft: Hazzikostas Talks World Quests, Tuning the Leveling Experience & More

Ion Hazzikostas took part in a World of Warcraft Legion Developer Update with Jesse Cox to talk about some of the things coming in the expansion but, prior to talking about that, Hazzikostas revealed that alpha is ending over the next 24 hours and that there will be a full server wipe, a huge new wave of beta invites will be sent out and that beta will officially start on Thursday at 2 pm Pacific / 5 pm Eastern barring any strange build issues prior to that time.

World of Warcraft: Legion Alpha Ending, Beta Coming May 12th

World of Warcraft developer Ion Hazzikostas is on hand on a Twitch.tv stream right now and has announced that the Legion alpha is ending and that a huge new wave of invites will be sent out and that beta will be starting on Thursday, May 12th 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern. The alpha will end over the next 24 hours with a full server wipe before the start of beta. It will be a stress test of sorts with people hammering the Broken Shore.

World of Warcraft: ‘A Collection of Minority Groups IS WoW’ Watcher Explains

In a lengthy post, and one that should be stickied on the Battle.Net World of Warcraft forums, Ion “Watcher” Hazzikostas has written a most interesting post in response to players concerned about a vendor found in alpha selling items and mounts at very, very high prices. After informing the community that this vendor is not meant to be a ‘gold sink’ (that’s adequately taken care of with repairs & auction house tarifs), Hazzikostas went on to explain a fundamental feature of the game.

World of Warcraft: Blood Elf Starter Zone, Quel’Thalas, Restored by WoW Fan

World of Warcraft fan and YouTube videographer has posted a new work in which he restores the Blood Elf starting zone, Quel’Thalas. It’s a very early work in progress but shows what the area might have looked like prior to the Scourge invasion. WoW players have been calling for the restoration of Stormwind park which will take place in Legion and others have similarly called for the repair of Silvermoon and the surrounding areas. Time will tell if it will ever happen. Regardless, check it out!

World of Warcraft: Developer Update Live Scheduled for May 10th

Blizzard wants to give World of Warcraft players an update on the development process on Legion. On Tuesday, May 10th, Assistant Game Director Ion “Watcher” Hazzikostas will be on hand in the World of Warcraft Twitch.tv channel at 9:00 am Pacific / 12:00 pm Eastern to go over the expansion’s progress report. Topics include class halls, Demon Hunters, development priorities and more.

World of Warcraft: Nostalrius Team Retracts Offer to Release Source Code

Citing themselves as ‘ambassadors of a larger movement’, the Nostalrius team has announced that they will not be releasing the server’s code as they had previously indicated. The decision was made to ensure that when meeting with Blizzard representatives in the near future they would have ‘all the chances on [their] side’, an admission of sorts that perhaps releasing most of the server’s code would be a bad move.
