The members of the Nostalrius team have returned from their trip to Blizzard HQ last weekend where the discussion centered around the issue of vanilla servers. The meeting was attended by World of Warcraft project leads, PR members and community managers and lasted the better part of a day.

World of WarCraft developers have taken to the official forums with a pair of posts that lay out some of the details in the recent changes made to the Legion beta with regard to talents and improvements to draw distances in the game.

Blizzard devs have posted a short note in this week’s hotfix update to World of Warcraft. In it, they explain that the 1-20 “low level” experience has been gradually being tuned over the last couple of weeks that add some modern conveniences to the earliest levels of the game and that the pace of combat has been adjusted.

The first Warcraft movie reviews are in and are showing a mediocre reception at best. Variety subtitles it “Hollywood’s habit of turning hit video games into unwatchable movies continues unabated” while The Wrap says “swords, sorcery and stupidity abound in game adaptation”.

Any World of Warcraft player logging into the game between now and August 1st will receive the “Warcraft” movie transmog (cosmetic) items to add permanently to their collection. For Horde characters, the items are a staff and an axe; for Alliance characters, items include a sword and shield.

A new ‘watercooler’ blog article has been posted on the World of Warcraft community site that examines how PvP gear in the upcoming Legion expansion will be changing from the way it has manifested in Warlords of Draenor (and previous expansions). The article begins with a discussion of the history of PvP gear and the underlying philosophy behind the choices devs are making for how gear will become as useful out of PvP as it is PvP experiences.

The Legion is coming, and it is relentless. No matter how many times they are driven back, the Fel Armies will not cease marching until all of Azeroth is consumed. No matter the defeats they suffer, the demonic swarm continues unyielding. They will probe and pursue any weakness or treachery in single-minded pursuit of a corrupting end.

The World of Warcraft team has revealed that it has implemented another crushing round of ‘Swing the Ban Hammer’ and that thousands of accounts have been taken down for using third-party programs that automate game play.

A new cookbook set for publication on October 18th, 2016, that will allow people to use real world ingredients to create virtual world culinary delights. World of Warcraft: The Official Cookbook is inspired by the game and features both Horde and Alliance favourites such as Dirge’s Kickin’ Chimaerok Chops and fresh loaves of Mulgore Spice Bread.

Mega Ran, “rapper / teacher / hero”, has released a new collection of seven tracks from World of Warcraft that brings rap to Wu-Tang beats. Mega Ran partnered with Phil Harmonix to bring a unique sound to classic WoW music and the album, Wucraft, is free to stream or download from any one of a number of online locations including SoundCloud, YouTube, Bandcamp, and Audiomack.
