Super Yooka-Laylee Kart Playtonic Racer Pixel Throwback Gameplay Reveal Trailer

Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic has unveiled Super Yooka-Laylee Kart, and it’s a pixelated racer with a story campaign, rival races, time trials, and more. Plus, it will feature up to 8-player local split-screen multiplayer when it launches on PC sometime in the future.

Revealed during the SGF Day of the Devs showcase, Super Yooka-Laylee Kart ditches the series’ platformer past to dive into Mario Kart-like kart racing, complete with weapons, advanced driving techniques alongside pick-up-and-play gameplay, and a Rage system that builds throughout races and allows you to unleash “devastating revenge abilities capable of changing the outcome in an instant.” Beyond the multiplayer, which features a suite of options for local split-screen and online play, Super Yooka-Laylee Kart features a story campaign “packed with tournaments, rival races, time trials, endurance events, and a huge variety of skill-based challenges built to continually push players to improve,” according to a press release.

Check it out in the Super Yooka-Laylee Kart reveal trailer below:

Playtonic says coins collected during races can also be strategically spent between events on powerful perks, allowing players to customize their kart-racing capabilities with upgrades such as increased top speed and more. Ahead of the game’s launch, Playtonic will host a series of beta tests focused on the game’s online multiplayer features.

There’s no word on when to expect Super Yooka-Laylee Kart, and right now, it’s only announced for PC.

The Among Us Animated Show Is Out Right Now

Game Informer

Summer Game Fest is always full of surprises, with game reveals, new trailers, and even the occasional shadow drop – when a game is released by surprise that very day. Today, we got a close example of that, only it wasn’t for a video game, and the news leaked a little early. Either way, the Among Us animated series is out right now on Paramount+, and you can watch the trailer below.

The news was delivered on stage at SGF by actors Yvette Nicole Brown and Liv Hewson, who play Orange and Black, respectively. Like the game, the show follows a spaceship full of crewmates (each named after the color of their suit) as they’re hunted by a shapeshifting imposter. Here’s the show’s full cast:

  • Orange: Yvette Nicole Brown
  • Cyan: Kimiko Glenn
  • Black: Liv Hewson
  • Purple: Ashley Johnson
  • Lime: Wayne Knight
  • Brown: Phil Lamarr
  • Red: Randall Park
  • Blue: Dan Stevens
  • Yellow: Debra Wilson
  • Green: Elijah Wood
  • White: Patton Oswalt

The show was created by Owen Dennis, who’s best known for his work as the creator of Infinity Train, and produced by CBS Studios and Innersloth, the developer of the video game it’s based on.

CBS was kind enough to send along screeners in advance, so I’ve actually seen the full show already, and you can expect a review from us soon. Among Us is a mix between a comedy and a murder mystery, and while there are plenty of references to the game, you don’t have to have played to follow along. Also, kids will appreciate the animation style and humor, but it’s definitely written for a more PG-13 audience, with light swearing and some mild, cartoon, crewmate-based gore.

For more Among Us, check out our review of the original game, published back in 2020.

Shift Up Announces Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, A Sequel Currently In Development

Game Informer

Stellar Blade is a fast-paced action game that dropped in 2024, and we thought it was, well, stellar. Today’s Summer Game Fest showcase announced the series’ return, now with a new protagonist named Evie, but with all the style and action we know and love from the first game. Check out the reveal trailer below:

We didn’t initially know what game the footage was from when we watched the trailer live, but several of our editors quickly picked up on the groovy soundtrack, a standout feature from the original Stellar Blade. Once the combat kicked in, the resemblance was undeniable, but Evie doesn’t use a sword – she takes on foes using nothing but her fists. The game also looks fantastic, and if you watched the livestream, we’d recommend checking out the trailer again to see it in its full, uncompressed glory.

The game is still a ways out, with no release window announced yet, but we’re eager to learn when it is – and even more eager to play. For more Stellar Blade, check out our interview with the game’s developers.

Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa Is Coming To Street Fighter 6

Game Informer

Street Fighter 6’s Year 4 DLC fighter roster is being headlined by Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa Lockheart. The roster also includes newcomers Yasmin and Arjun, along with Bosch from the game’s World Tour mode.

Tifa’s martial arts prowess makes her a great fit for Street Fighter, and Capcom and Square Enix teases that she’ll also sport more Final Fantasy-centric abilities. Her impending arrival coincides with the Summer Game Fest reveal of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final game in the FFVII remake trilogy.

Here’s when players can expect each character to arrive:

Yasmine – August 3
Arjun – Autumn 2026
Tifa – Early 2027
Bosch – Spring 2027

The Third Final Fantasy VII Remake Subtitle Is Revelation And It’s Coming To All Platforms Simultaneously

Game Informer

After much speculation, we finally know the subtitle of the final entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy: Revelation. Surprisingly, the game will also release for all platforms simultaneously. The Final Fantasy VII remake series will no long start as a PlayStation exclusive.

The game’s director says that Revelation’s theme is “resolve”. We also learned about a new skydiving mechanic which will allow players to leap from the airship down to the ground without any loading.

Characters will be able to wear new clothes and armor that will aid in their combat abilities.

The game will be available Spring 2027 to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Switch 2.

The Wolf Among Us 2 Gets 2027 Launch Window, And A Remaster Of The First Game Arrives This Holiday

The Wolf Among Us 2 Remastered Telltale Games Warner Bros. Interactive Bigby

The Wolf Among Us 2 hasn’t been seen since 2024, but Bigby made his fairytale presence known during today’s Summer Game Fest showcase, revealing the game will finally launch in 2027. Plus, The Wolf Among Us Remastered arrives this Holiday season.

The Wolf Among Us first launched way back in 2013 (and kind of 2014 because it was an episodic release), and its sequel was revealed in 2019. Telltale Games shut down, returned, the game’s development swapped hands, and then some, but The Wolf Among Us 2 is finally back and launching sometime next year.

Check it out in The Wolf Among U 2: A Telltale Series reveal trailer for yourself below:

If you’ve never played The Wolf Among Us, you should do so before the sequel launches next year, and fortunately, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive understands what can happen in an eight-year gap, answering with The Wolf Among Us Remastered. This remaster will launch sometime during the 2026 holiday season, but an exact release date was not given.

Game Informer

The Wolf Among Us 2 will launch in 2027, and if the trailer’s ending is any indication, it’s being developed by Telltale and PM Studios.

New Attack On Titan 3 Video Game Will Depict The Series’ Climactic Conclusion

Game Informer

Attack On Titan, the manga and anime phenomenon, in 2023, but another video game adaptation is on the way. Attack On Titan 3 follows the story’s events through to its intense conclusion, while the last game in the series only covered through season 2 of the anime. Check out the reveal trailer below, though be warned that it, along with the remainder of this article, contains some serious spoilers for people in the middle of experiencing the story for the first time:

The footage shows gameplay from many of the climactic moments in the final seasons of the anime, including the fight for the War Hammer Titan in Marley, Levi’s fight with the Beast Titan in the woods, and the final battle against the Rumbling. While the game will supposedly follow the story “from beginning to end,” the trailer primarily shows content later in the story.

The trailer ends with the announcement that the “next scouting report” will come July 1, in just under a month. The game’s Steam page says the game is planned to be released sometime this year.
