Mr. Peck Shows How to Convert off Filia’s Throw in This Step by Step Tutorial for Skullgirls 2nd Encore
Skullgirls is a game that’s filled with interesting interactions and conversions. A lot about what characters can do relies on the player’s knowledge, with a lot of freedom being given to players who understand the situation their in. This situational awareness comes into play in the neutral game and during resets, but today we’re talking a bit about using this understanding to get the most out of conversions.
Here, Skullgirls player Mr. Peck shows us how to best convert off of Filia’s throw. The conversion isn’t difficult, but it can be a bit odd to learn the first time. This conversion gives Filia a lot of freedom, letting her transition into her powerful vortex game. Not every character can easily convert off of their ground throw, so it’s an important tool for Filia.

For many players, fighting games are a hobby. For a few, they are an obsession. Fewer still, they are have become a livelihood. Catch Up on SSFC2016 With Hyper Street Fighter II, Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000, and Kabuki Klash Tournaments
Running until 12/16, “Super Street Fighter Carnival” is the regularly occurring tournament series of Japan’s famous Mikado Arcade. Along SSFC2016’s epic two month journey, Mikado Regulars are pit against each other in a wide variety of classic and obscure arcade titles. Today’s videos from Mikado’s YouTube Channel definitely pick from both of those categories.
Regardless of whether or not you saw SSFC2016’s Capcom v SNK 2 tournament, you likely already know of CvS2’s reputation. You probably already have a strong opinion on the game, in one way or another. Less talked about in our community is it’s predecessor, Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000. This four button fighter introduced the concept of Ratios, marked the first actual fighting game collaboration between SNK/Capcom. It’s also worth noting: If you ever thought Nakoruru was nuts in the new King of Fighters, you’ll see that this is not without precedent.
Going even further into obscurity, there’s Far East of Eden: Kabuki Klash. This 1995 game is the first fighting game made by developer Racdym, and with its deliberate ground game, slick sprite work and chaotic item interactions, it’s likely their best entry in the genre.
As SSFC2016 is obviously named after the Street Fighter series, it only makes sense for a SF game to make an appearance! Mikado’s finest clashed in Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition. This version of SFII is the final version to be released in arcades, and allows players to pick any version of the cast from the previous SFII releases.
It’s hard to believe there’s still so much left to see from SSFC2016! As always, you can follow along Mikado’s upload schedule on YouTube, or try to catch them live on their UStream.

Yahoo eSports’ Daniel “tafokints” Lee breaks down a clutch doubles match that took place between two teams of Melee titans at Smash Summit 3. With PewFat being the premier doubles team in the USA and with TSM|Leffen and Mafia having never teamed before, this set was going to be an interesting one no matter what. He breaks down how the individual character choices, team composition and personal player strategies makes the match truly a sight to behold.
With Melee being such a fast paced game, there is a lot going on that can be missed by a spectator with an untrained eye. Even the keen observer has to make on the spot perceptions to conceive an accurate analysis, as Daniel Lee makes clear with his play-by-play breakdown.
You can watch this latest breakdown of what Yahoo eSports dubs “Melee science” here.
