Tokido’s Akuma Tries to Topple Itazan’s Red Cyclone in This Street Fighter V Set
It has been documented that Zangief gives Akuma trouble in Street Fighter V, and Echo Fox’s Tokido has been having quite a bit of difficulty with the matchup so far. He has previously played Itabashi Zangief and fell to the player decisively.
It looks like they’ve had their runback, and make it triple this time around. In three ranked sets, can the Murderface kill his proverbial demon in Itazan? Or will pro wrestling prove to be too much for the Satsui no Hado?

Mike Z Responds to Player’s Choice Voting: Skullgirls Doesn’t Need Evo to Be a Fighting Game Community
With the Evo 2017 Player’s Choice vote having less than a week left until the deadline, Skullgirls currently sits with $672, far behind other games. Needless to say, Mike “Mike_Z” Zaimont isn’t happy with the way the voting shakes out. He told Yahoo! Esports that the vote, “aside from it not being a fair way to gauge interest–is whoever wins, whoever loses; this is how you build animosity between people who should be part of the same group.”
While the voting is for a good cause, and is poised to once again raise a lot of money for charity–this time for Make-a-Wish International instead of the previous vote’s Susan G. Komen Foundation–it does have the propensity to leave games on uneven footing, allowing people with more disposable income to push a game in.
Regardless of how the voting shakes down, Zaimont states that Skullgirls will retain a growing community. “It’s been a very strong community since then [Evolution 2013]. It hasn’t died or gone away. We don’t need Evo to be a fighting game community.”
Zaimont took to Twitter to clarify his statements later:
If there's one way to completely divorce the results of a vote from popular opinion, it's making disposable income decide the results. https://t.co/gmpHFyciMN

Carry the idea along a bit: Imagine if the national election let anyone vote unlimited times, for $100 per extra vote. Still fine?

That said, we do know what the rules are. So hey, if you have mo' money *after* buying that Combo Breaker ticket: https://t.co/JqTh3JOEHa

Jump into BlazBlue: Central Fiction with This Beginner’s Combo Tutorial
Many people who pick up a game like BlazBlue can be daunted by the combo system. When you are coming from a game with a more shallow combo system–or even if you’ve never touched a fighting game in your life–it can be very difficult to get competitive when you have to learn how to hit confirm into damaging combos, resets, and setups on a dime.
Fortunately for everyone who hasn’t played this series from the very beginning, here is a beginner’s combo tutorial for BlazBlue: Central Fiction that will help you catch up in no time. It starts you off with four basic combos that every beginner should know, and then branches off from there.

In Need of a Mechanics Breakdown for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom? Jmcrofts Has Got You Covered
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is a fighting game that suffered very unfortunate circumstances in North America. Despite the game coming to the US back in 2010 and being lauded for its gameplay, you’d be forgiven if you said the earlier Top 8 at Frosty Faustings was the first time you’d ever seen it being played. The game’s Wii-exclusive release and unfamiliar characters really dug this game into a hole that it seemed to be unable to climb out of.
That being said, YouTuber jmcrofts has made a primer for those unfamiliar with the game, designed to prep you on the basic mechanics and gameplay. He covers how this pre-MVC3 era title plays, how it was perceived, and even how the game is going through a resurgence thanks to emulators. Again, with the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite taking heavy inspiration from TvC, now’s the time to go back into the archive to get the leg up on the competition.
