801 Strider talks Street Fighter V’s balance, Urien not being top 5, and Ryu being terrible with BornFree

One of the names that’s been quietly been putting in the work this season is Winterfox’s Gustavo “801 Strider” Romero. 801 Strider has been a consistent performer this season, finishing in the top 8 of two Capcom Pro Tour Premier events.

At NorCal Regionals 2017, Mark “BornFree” Sheridan caught up with 801 Strider, where the latter shared his thoughts on the game’s balance. Regarding this, one of the more surprising insights that he shared is his opinion on Urien: stating that, contrary to popular opinion, the Illuminati Lord is not in the top 5 characters of the game. He mostly attributes this to Urien not having a reliable anti-air. More in line with popular opinion though are his thoughts on Ryu, who he calls the worst character in the game.

In addition to this, 801 Strider also talks about the game as a whole. Echoing the sentiments of many other players, he worries that the game will become more “random” with the impending removal of the fuzzy-jump option select. Even at its current state, the game is already unforgiving, with one mistake possibly leading to a loss. He compares it with the Marvel vs. Capcom series in this regard.

Joker confirmed as a playable character via Injustice 2 achievement list

As one of the worst-kept secrets circling NetherRealm’s latest fighter, we’ve finally got confirmation that the Joker will indeed be a playable character in Injustice 2, thanks to the release of the game’s achievement list. There are two achievements to do with the Joker, named “I Love You, I Hate You” and “Why Aren’t You Laughing?”

“I Love You, I Hate You” tasks players with defeating the Joker with Harley Quinn’s “Go Night Night” move, while “Why Aren’t You Laughing?” has players defeating Batman with the Joker’s “Not So Funny Is It?” attack. Most of the achievements involve characters with storied rivalries finishing each other off in specific ways, either with standard or meter-burned specials. A couple of my favorites are Captain Cold’s “FROSTY!!!” achievement, unlocked for defeating The Flash with a Cryogenic Blast and Bane’s “OUTTA NOWHERE!!!” achievement, which has him defeating Superman with a meter-burned Bane Bomb.

You can find the whole achievement list here and don’t worry, there are no major Story Mode spoilers from this list. The only thing it does reveal that you will be able to take alternate paths at certain points, shown by the “I’ll Do It Again” achievement.

Guild Wars 2 – Flashpoint to Release on May 2nd, Season 3 Nearing Its End

ArenaNet has sent word that the next episode in the ongoing Guild Wars 2 Living World Season 3 story will be released on May 2nd. Called Flashpoint, it is the second-to-last chapter in Season 3 and sees Tyria descend into war on two fronts. The paths of the powerful Elder Dragons and the mursaat Lazarus will converge. Developers promise shocking secrets and a threat like none seen before.
