Capcom Fighters talks to Problem X about his CPT win streak, going pro, and succeeding with Bison

Europe’s last Premier event before its Regional Finals — EGX 2017 — saw Mousesports’ Problem X defending the house from both continental and global threats. Capcom’s Matt Edwards was able to catch up with arguably world’s best Bison both before and after his third consecutive CPT win, to talk all things Street Fighter V.

Problem X recently quit his day job to pursue Street Fighter full-time, and that extra practice looks to be paying off. It certainly needed when you play a character like Bison, who requires considerable “mental strength” to play properly, according to Problem X. He is determined to rock out with solo Bison going forward, hoping that continued exposure to bad match-ups will cause him to improve. Cammy is the only character that he would consider swapping off Bison for, but that’s a last resort.

As for what he wants for Bison in a potential third season of Street Fighter V, Problem X would like to see Psycho Crusher return as a special move — only accessible when the dictator is in V-Trigger.

Problem X is guaranteed a spot in Capcom Cup 2017 after his EGX win, and he is currently ranked eighth with 1132 points. With Milan Games Week this weekend, he has the potential to gain even better seeding within the final 32-player bracket.

Injustice 2’s October update brings bug fixes and new Legendary Multiverses

The October update for Injustice 2 is now live, bringing with it a myriad of bug fixes for both characters and stages — as well as opening new Legendary Multiverses — while also making the newest level of Gear slightly easier to obtain.

Arkham Asylum, Atlantis, Metropolis, and the Red Sun Prison have seen adjustments to remove bugs that would allow players to go outside the stage’s natural environment boundaries, as well as a hitbox adjustment on bomb placements utilized by Gadget characters. Superman will also now remain inside the Red Son Prison should players decided to use the Bizarro Premier Skin!

The requirements for obtaining Legendary Gear have been slightly reduced, as now players will only need 1,000 and 3,000 minutes played with each character to complete Legendary Multiverse Events, and the “sacrifice Gear” requirements now accept both Rare or Epic items. Base stats for Legendary Gear have also been increased, and new Legendary Multiverses are now open for Black Adam, Brainiac, Catwoman, Deadshot, Flash, Scarecrow and Supergirl.

A new “Punish” icon has been added to gameplay where applicable, while Aquman, Black Manta, Blue Beetle, Captain Cold, Darkseid, Deadshot, Dr. Fate, Red Hood, Supergirl, Starfire and Swamp Thing received various bug fixes.

As for the minor balance adjustments, Bane’s Legendary Straight Damage Augment now causes damage scaling based on his total health, with 5% for Venom Level 1, 12% for Venom Level 2 and 25% for Venom Level 3. Superman has lost throw immunity on both his  MeterBurned Super Breath, and can now be thrown during the  recovery of his B1 and F2D1 string. Firestorm’s Heat Wave/B3 has had its hit region adjusted against certain crouching characters, who could previously low profile it. You can read the full patch notes for yourself below.

– Blizzard Releases the Battle.Net App for Android & iOS

For about as long as anyone can remember, players have been asking for a mobile app that allows them to chat with their Battle.Net friends. Blizzard has finally come through for Android and iOS users with the new Battle.Net app. The app lets you chat with friends, see what games they’re playing and add new friends as well. In short, other than launching games, it functions pretty much like the desktop application.

– Middle-Earth Shadow of War Memorial DLC to be Free to All, Warner Bros. to Donate Directly to the Family

After an eruption of controversy surrounding the Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Forthog Orc-Slayer DLC to honor Mike “Forthog” Forgey who passed away from cancer earlier in the summer, Warner Bros. has had a change of heart. The controversy began when it came to light that donations would only be given through purchases made in the US and only from certain states. In addition, purchases of the DLC outside the US would not be eligible for the donation to Forgey’s family.

Decidueye tech roundup for Pokkén Tournament DX: Glitches, combos, Bolimar’s SCR top 8 appearance, and more

Of all the new characters in Pokkén Tournament DX, the one most shrouded in mystery was the high flying console-exclusive Decidueye. With less then a week out in the wild, the community has already scored some impressive tech and tournament footage from a major. Let’s take a look!

21 Hits has a great breakdown of several advanced Decidueye combo paths in Duel.

For field phase, though, check out Bolimar’s 3-day old, tournament-ready Decidueye at SCR 2017’s top 8! In the first round he shows off a 184-damage wall combo in Field phase from a command grab — an odd sight in the Pokkén universe, for sure.

ZyflairGriffane has a great anti-throw combo when Decidueye’s back’s to the wall…

… and a practical example of Decidueye’s Ghost Dashes, a surprising mechanic from a character as mobile as the Ghost Owl. For comparison’s sake, Gengar and Chandelure are the other characters with this mechanic.

It’s not all good news for the new bird in town, though. StDxALLISTER shows of a strange bug that prevents Decidueye from command-grabbing a Lucario near the wall, if they are in high stance.

Evo champ tonosama721 found that the cross-up hitbox of Decidueye’s panic button, 4A (Frenzied Plant), does an absurd amount of damage. Beware, teleport characters!

To finish it off, check out some mid-combo cross-ups and re-wall splats courtesy of Swillo & BimmyQuestion!

Get ready to battle in Britain again with Street Fighter V’s new “English Manor” stage theme

The latest stage to blast out of the past has an appropriately reminiscent theme.

Street Fighter V is getting a big content update today, which includes (among lots and lots of costumes…) Cammy’s classic Super Street Fighter II level remade for the current game as the English Manor stage. The update isn’t fully live yet (servers are still down) but Xuses has pulled the theme out for us to have a listen. As a version of Cammy’s theme, it sounds much more like her classic theme arrangement than more modern versions, appropriately.
