South Korea’s Tekken hotspot, Green Arcade, announces closure
For a very long time, Green Arcade has been the central point of South Korea’s Tekken scene. It has provided some of the highest level of game-play for Tekken over the years, and was often times the birthplace of important tech that would shape the scene. Unfortunately, that time has now passed:
NOTICE OF CLOSURE-
Dear Tekken community,
We are sad to announce that starting today, Green Arcade is officially closed for business.
The owners have come to a decision to retire due to age. We truly want to thank everyone for their support and love for the arcade.
Thank you— Nin (@GreenTekken) October 9, 2018
Despite being home to the likes of international stars like NIN and Knee, the arcade struggled to stay afloat in a post-console release world, having cited a lack of revenue and attendance — both due to Tekken 7 Season 2 and DLC being console-exclusive. But it seems that the aging management has brought about the closure at last.
