Upcoming Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition update will improve the speed of the game’s inputs
Input lag is one of the things that can ruin the experience of any fighting game, and as such it’s something that players look out for. Street Fighter V infamously had input lag issues early in its life, before Capcom eventually fixed the issue… sort of. Now, it seems that Capcom will be further addressing input latency in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.
In a recent tweet, the official Street Fighter twitter account announced that they would “improve the speed of which inputs are registered” in an update set to drop on October 23.
We’re aware of your concerns regarding inputs and will improve the speed at which inputs are registered in the update coming on 10/23.
We’ll be sure to update you on future improvements for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Thank you for your continued support!
— Street Fighter (@StreetFighter) October 9, 2018
This announcement is interesting considering that the game, as previously mentioned, had already received a patch that lowered its input delay a few years back. This, however, was done without the update that Epic released last year for Unreal Engine 4 (which powers Street Fighter V) that lowered the baseline input delay of the engine in general. [This was utilized by Bandai Namco to drop the input delay in Tekken 7 on PlayStation 4. – Editor]
Could this mean that Capcom is has finally upgraded the build of Unreal Engine 4 that Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is using to the versions with the lowered delay? Or have they found other ways to speed up the games inputs? We’ll find out on October 23, when the update drops.
