IKevinX breaks down Android 17 and Cooler’s anime and manga references in Dragon Ball FighterZ

One of the fun things to do whenever new Dragon Ball FighterZ characters are released is to look at all the references that the designers take from the original manga and anime. IKevinX has been doing exactly this with every character in the game. Now, with the recent released of Android 17 and Cooler, IKevinX returns with once again with videos showcasing the references that Arc System Works put into these characters.

Despite being based on his most recent appearance in Dragon Ball Super, Android 17 still carries a lot of references to his prior appearance in the Cell Saga, as well as a few references to older games based on the franchise.

Cooler on the other hand has a more limited set of material to pull from in the anime (just 2 movies). As such, he carries a lot more references to previous video games. Additionally, some of his references from the anime are from his Meta-Cooler version, instead of the final form version we see in the game.

Melee. They also feature monthly events for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, Pokkén Tournament DX, ARMS, and Injustice 2 [TBD]. Other games appear seasonally or for special events. Rift: Prime Players Ready to Take on the Storm Legion

The Storm Legion has launched in Rift: Prime and players can take on the forces of the Storm Queen as she “wreaks havoc across Telara”. Players will find new raids and dungeons and the level cap has increased to 60. The Empyrean colossus Volan is also out and about, so there is lots to do for Ascended.

Allen Brack is stepping in as the new President of Blizzard Entertainment. Morhaime will remain with the company as an advisor. Chief Development Officer Ray Gresko & Blizzard’s Founder Allen Adham have stepped on to the Executive Leadership Team.

Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown’s largest annual tournament, 17th Beat Tribe Cup, set for March 23, 2019

The most important date of every year for a Virtua Fighter player is almost always going to be whenever the Beat Tribe Cup gets scheduled. If you are in that group, or are just a fan of watching some of Japan’s best VF players duke it out, then mark your calendars for March 23rd, 2019! The 17th Beat Tribe Cup will go down at the Tokyo Big Sight Hall.

$5K is on the line at free-to-enter Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition tournament “Titans at Daytona” this October 5th-6th

This weekend, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition fans should turn their attention over to Daytona Beach, FL to see a new tournament series with big names and big prizes on the line.

Titans at Daytona, presented by 2050esports, is hosting three events across two days. A free-entry Dragon Ball FighterZ tournament with a $250 prize pool, a 256-player free entry Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition tournament, and a team battle between pro players from the Dominican Republic and Georgia.

FK Digital rebrands as “Border Violation” and releases freeware 2D fighter “Angels of Battle”

When indie developers FK Digital put out freeware fighter Super Cosplay War Ultra in 2004, they used that as part of their resume to eventually entice publisher Arc System Works in 2011. The end result of this was Chaos Code.

In a strange turn of events, FK Digital has now re-branded themselves as “Border Violation” and returned, in a way, to the world of Super Cosplay War Ultra with their latest self-published freeware fighter Angels of Battle.

AOB features 2 returning SCWU characters (Erus, Kay) and 4 brand new characters. You can find out more about the game — and download it for free — by visiting the developers’ Facebook page here.

Taiwan’s Oil King has went from being known as the guy in the short shorts to a very consistent player in 2018. Over the course of the year, he has consistently made top 8s, and even taken down his first premier event in Xi’an, China.

While at Socal Regionals, BornFree caught up with Oil King, and discussed his beginnings in fighting games, as well as his choice to play Rashid — which he claims to not be the inspiration behind his name. He also discusses his thoughts on Street Fighter V currently.
