Anthem: Pulling Back the Veil on Lore
Anthem is set to launch this February, but it still seems like there’s a lot we don’t know about the game. Ahead of tonight’s Video Game Awards, EA hosted a press junket where they told us a bit more about the game’s story, and gave us the news that the VIP Pre-Order DEMO will come in late January, with an “Open for Everyone” Demo the first week of February. Mikado Arcade’s Street Fighter Carnival 12 continues with Fighting EX Layer, The King of Fighters ’98 tournament VODs
World-famous Mikado Arcade is back with two more tournament VODs featuring high-level Japanese play in a variety of classic arcade titles!
It might come as bit of a surprise to see indie darling Fighting EX Layer show up at this event, especially alongside a legacy game like The King of Fighters ’98. This is almost certainly a tie-in with the recent released arcade version of the game — and if it isn’t, then Mikado has an obvious out either way: they did run a Fighting Layer tournament last week, after-all.
You can follow the action of SFC12 by subscribing to Mikado’s official YouTube channel. For the night owls in the US, you can even try to catch them when they livestream.

Dauntless to Become Truly Cross-Platform with Console & Mobile Releases in 2019
Dauntless will become a truly cross-platform title when it launches on consoles in 2019. The PlayStation 4 and XBox One versions of “One Dauntless” are expected to launch in April 2019, with Switch and mobile launch dates coming alone later in 2019. The announcement was made during this evening’s Game Awards 2018 along with the news that Dauntless will be launching on the Epic Games store platform.
Dead by Daylight to Receive the Darkness Among Us Update on December 11th
Dead by Daylight will be updated on December 11th with the Darkness Among Us content expansion. This marks the tenth chapter for DbD and includes a new map, killer and survivor. Players will be challenged to differentiate between killer and survivor since The Legion is a collective of four human teenagers. Those who take on the killer role will be able to play as one of the four and utilize the Feral Frenzy power.
Ashes Of Creation Apocalypse
Ashes of Creation Apocalypse is the standalone prequel to the Ashes of Creation MMO. Players will be able to take part in 100 player battle royale with other modes, including castle siege and co-op horde mode, to be added later.
Wizards of the Coast Announces a $10M Prize Pool for Magic: The Gathering
Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast have announced that Magic: The Gathering will be breaking into the esports industry across both digital and tabletop versions of the game. Throughout 2019, tabletop and digital MtG players will be vying for a portion of the $10M prize pool. In addition, Magic Pro League offers play and streaming contracts worth $75,000. The first $1M tournament will be held at PAX East 2019.
2018 Tokyo Bay Area Cup Vol. 11 VOD for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Shodown now available
As you may have noticed, we’ve made a more active attempt to cover the tournament scene of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown over in Japan. While we could continue to point out that events like the Tokyo Bay Area Cup — a 3-on-3 team tournament in Japan featuring 30 teams — validate the passion of this game, perhaps there’s no better explanation of the pull of VF than the fact that two-time Evo champion Fuudo found himself in the brackets. If a sponsored player for Street Fighter V could find the time to return to his roots, you know there’s a flame there that will never die.
