Street Fighter Carnival 12 continues with Fatal Fury Special, Blade Smash VODs

Street Fighter Carnival 12 is a multi-tournament series for world famous Japanese arcade Mikado. While the large focus of Mikado’s events are on preserving the hype of legacy titles through top tier skill, there is one consistent rule for a Mikado Event — be prepared for any game to show up, arcade title or otherwise.

So while the latest Fatal Fury Special tournament was no surprise on Mikado’s event list…

Blade Smash, a new mobile platform fighter that features SNK’s Nakoruru as a guest character, likely caught a few off guard. Audience and Player alike.

You can follow the action of SFC12 by subscribing to Mikado’s official YouTube channel. For the night owls in the US, you can even try to catch them when they livestream.

Maximilian speculates on how Street Fighter V’s 4th season will be different, and whether it’s “winding down”

The 4th Season of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition seems to be heading into a new direction. This season is the first time that the game won’t have a season pass for its upcoming characters; that fact, alongside Capcom-Unity’s Andy Wong stating that “We’re doing things differently this year,” during the Kage announcement post indicates that Capcom has a new approach in mind for their DLC coming into 2019.

The questions that this raises of course are “how” and “why”. It’s these questions that Maximilian tackles in this new video. As part of this, he comments on how it feels like things are “winding down” for Street Fighter V. That said, he does also offer other insights and speculations how Capcom could be doing things differently next year.

1-Minute Tech series shows off important high level tech for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Robin

Fire Emblem Tactician Robin comes with one of the widest toolkits in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This is primarily thanks to his multiple magic-spitting tomes — and with such a wide arsenal, comes an even wider array of ways to use these spells on the battlefield.

In the playlist above, you’ll find the “1-Minute Tech” series produced by Mad Ice King. These videos quickly condense complicated topics — such as Robin’s Elwind Cancels and Instant Tome Pickups — so that you can become a fearsome Grandmaster with one of Smash’s most unique characters.

PlayStation Classic support added to the Brook Universal Fighting Board

Brook’s Universal Fighting Board is arguably the most versatile custom PCB controller for arcade sticks, with support for a wide range of consoles. Now, another “console” joins the list of hardware that the UFB works with: the PlayStation Classic.

Firmware version 2.6 for the Universal Fighting Board was released on Christmas Day. This new firmware allows players to have the UFB work with Sony’s mini-console by simply holding down the square and triangle buttons when plugging it in.

This update means that players can now use arcade sticks for the fighting games included in the PlayStation Classic, such as Tekken 3. Of course, there’s still the PAL vs. NTSC issue –however a solution for that has already been found.

Interested players can download the new firmware here.

My Wants for Fallout 76

The launch of Fallout 76 has been… well let’s just say that I doubt it went the way Bethesda was hoping. But as a fan of two MMOs that have really turned things around through communication and perseverance (FFXIV and ESO), I’m hopeful that 2019 could bring good things to Fallout 76. It’s not a quick road back to the good graces of angry gamers, but the following is a list of things that I’d like to see from the dev team in the new year.

desk explores the new combo possibilities in Season 4 of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

With a new balance patch out, people are scrambling to see what new things can be done in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. One such person is combo genius desk, who’s compiled his findings in a new combo video.

In the video below, desk implements a number of the new things that some of the cast has been given in Season 4 of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. This includes things such as Balrog’s new cancels, Chun Li’s new V-Skill follow up, and more. The highlight however has to be the first combo, a 30-second-long one that he pulls off with Guile on Abigail. Check out the video below.
