Red Hood gameplay trailer to be revealed for Injustice 2 this Sunday at Combo Breaker

With Injustice 2 released and in full swing, the game will be seeing its first major tournament action at Combo Breaker this weekend in Chicago. Being that the city is the home base for NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon had promised a big announcement to close out the weekend on Twitter. Though we saw the first in-game screenshot of DLC character Red Hood earlier this week, we now know that his official gameplay trailer will be revealed on Sunday night!

You can see the Tweet below, which includes another screenshot of Jason Todd shooting Damien Wayne–clad in his Nightwing Gear–in the back with a flipping pistol shot.

Perhaps we’ll get a release date for Hood as well? Only time will tell. Red Hood will be included in “DLC Fighter Pack 1,” alongside Sub-Zero and Starfire.

Injustice 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Acquire a 12th level intellect in Injustice 2 with PND|Ketchup and Mustard’s “Getting Started” guide for Brainiac

With Injustice 2 now fully in the hands of the public, top NRS content creators The Condiment Brothers–PND|Ketchup and Mustard–continue their “Getting Started” series by looking at the game’s final boss, Brainiac.

This guide covers uses for Brainiac’s key strings and specials, as well as his Tendril Swing and Divekick, that afford him tricky aerial mobility and mixups. His Trait, the Beta Barrage, allows the Collector of Worlds to launch a drone: providing him both a zoning tool, as well as covering his approach–though it goes away on hit. The video also covers some of the few ways he can remain safe without spending meter.

You can begin the path to collecting worlds by seeing the video for yourself below–and you can also check out their pre-release coverage of Dr. Fate, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd and Scarecrow.

Frabisaur discusses the concepts of tempo and momentum in Episode 10 of The Fighter’s Dojo

Following up on his discussion on how to properly play neutral, Genex eSports’ Frabisaur now looks at the concepts of tempo and momentum in the latest chapter of The Fighter’s Dojo. After defining the terms, Frabisaur suggests for players to just stay down, as well as mixing up Street Fighter V’s trio of wakeup options to potentially disrupt an attacker’s offensive storm, while keeping your mind clear.

After using some of his own recent match footage to show examples of both fast and slow tempo applied, Frabisaur offers a key piece of advice to players that may become frustrated by a quick loss: using the time between rounds to collect their thoughts and ensure they’re truly fully prepared before accepting another match, lest they jump headfirst into another defeat.

This episode is certainly a departure from his usual content, but is a great way for players of all skill levels to see the finer points of a longer set broken down in detail, with solid insight into the decisions being made on both sides. You can see the video in its entirety below.

Don’t forget to follow Frabisaur on Twitter for more information on any of these topics, or suggestions for future episodes of TFG. You can also tune into Fighter’s Dojo Live on Thursday nights at http://www.twitch.tv/frabisaur, where you can receive live play critiques as you try to apply these concepts in real match situations.

Maximize Guile’s Season 2 Sonic Boom loops in Street Fighter V with VesperArcade’s new tutorial

One of Guile’s most significant changes in Street Fighter V‘s second season was his V-Trigger going from 3 to 2 bars, as well as timer consumption alterations for his Sonic Break–drastically altering the Air Slasher’s Sonic Boom loops, and making them shorter overall.

For those looking to master the new variant–which players like Team Liquid’s NuckleDu and Twitch.Hx.CYG BST|Daigo Umehara are currently using in tournaments–VesperArcade has you covered with a new updated guide that breaks the new loop down into three phases, which can also be altered based on whether or not you have Critical Art available. Keep in mind this tech will still work after the new balance update arrives with Ed, at some point in the future. You can see the full guide below, to get you on the path to chucking American plasma like a pro.

Catch the first in-game glimpse of Red Hood via the Injustice 2 Facebook page

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Red Hood, Starfire and Sub-Zero would be the first three Injustice 2 DLC characters, as part of “Fighter Pack 1.” Over the weekend, the Injustice Facebook page posted a screenshot that gave us our first in-game look at one of them. Reborn from the Lazarus Pit after being killed by The Joker, Jason Todd returned as a vengeful assassin, who had no problem with dispensing justice in a much more lethal manner than his mentor Batman. In the screenshot, Todd seems to have launched his enemy with an attack similar to Erron Black’s slide from Mortal Kombat XL, as he shoots them with his pistols from his back, possibly indicating that he is a bit of a hybrid character, in contrast to Deadshot’s pure zoning strategy.

You can see the screenshot for yourself below:

Andrew David Murphy’s fan-made Street Fighter V HUD looks to make elements more discernible for casual viewers

With Street Fighter V action getting televised by mainstream media outlets like ESPN and TBS’s ELEAGUE, there are more eyes, exposure, and interest in the fighting game community than ever before. However, Andrew “nevbamshew” David Murphy feels that SFV’s current HUD display may not be doing a good enough job of conveying the action and the myriad of elements on display during the course of a match to the general viewers at home, who may be seeing the game played at high-level for the very first time.

An illustrator by trade, Murphy has provided his own example of an altered HUD, explaining that, “The brief is to improve the usability of the SFV HUD whilst retaining the original aesthetic, accentuating the branding and adding personality and style from the initial promos.”

His proposed changes include increasing the size of the V-Gauge and Critical Art meters to make them easier to see, changing character portraits, while also boldly increasing fonts and visuals, as he feels the current look is a bit too plain. The end result looks like a cross between Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and an Arc System Works title. I can appreciate the plain, basic look of SFV’s HUD, but this redesign certainly has a certain “pop” to it. Catch the video below, and let us know what you think.

Learn how to play neutral with Frabisaur on Episode 9 of The Fighter’s Dojo

After covering a variety of tips and strategies over the course of the series, Genex|Frabisaur finally lands on one of his most-requested topics–and something essential to all fighting games. Possibly easy to explain, yet difficult to master: how to properly play neutral. As some of our readers may know, this is how every round begins, the battle to establish positioning between you and your opponent, as well as trying to begin your offense or defensive strategies to gain ground and push them towards the corner. Frabisaur offers a three-part explanation, as he looks at the goals of neutral, the mentality of neutral, and the tools of neutral.

Frabisaur advises that the mentality of neutral should be to always play the opponent in front of you, as leaning solely on character matchup knowledge needs to be supplemented by identifying your foe’s habits and tendencies and exploiting them to your advantage; he demonstrates his thought process by taking you through some of his own Street Fighter V match footage. Simple things, like walking and blocking, filling up space with buttons, or buffering your combos, even on whiff, are great ways to confidently establish yourself and increase your chances of emerging victorious more often during these exchanges. You can catch the full video–with Frabisaur’s complete explanation and visual aids–below.
