TheoryFighter Discusses Character Selection for Street Fighter Players in Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-

One of the most difficult processes in learning a fighting game is picking a character that matches your personality and playstyle. When you are transitioning from one game to another, it becomes even more difficult when the game and mechanics are dramatically different than what you are used to.

Given the entry barrier and confusion for Street Fighter players who attempt to move to a more technical-heavy game such as Guilty Gear, TheoryFighter’s Street Fighter Guide to Guilty Gear has become a major asset. In this episode, we see the character select screen broken down from the viewpoint of a Street Fighter player.

Microsoft Studios Reimagines Chief Thunder’s Look with the Help of the Nez Perce Tribe

Chief Thunder has been one of the favorite characters across the Killer Instinct series since its inception. He has, however, been seen as a negative stereotype of Native Americans based on his original design. This has been something that Microsoft Studios has aimed to correct since acquiring Rare. While they initially got his look closer to accuracy, it just wasn’t enough. So what is a design team supposed to do?

They brought in the experts. The result of a collaborative effort between the design team and the Nez Perce tribe of Lapwai, Idaho, the Legend of Thunder costume is meant to be the most faithful representation of a Native American in any game to date.

This new skin for Chief Thunder is free for owners of Killer Instinct on both Xbox One and Windows 10.

Super Smash Bros. Pros Talk Aesthetics and More in theScore’s “Ask the Pros” Series

One of the tough parts of playing fighting games competitively is the fact that we get so involved with frame data and mechanics that we so often stop paying attention to the aesthetics. It’s doubtful that most people were not attracted to these games on hitboxes and hurtboxes alone, but through its characters, the stages and its music.

Thus, when reminded of aesthetics, it’s interesting to hear what top players think about their favorite stages, themes and such. So when theScore talked to the top Smash players at Smash Summit 3 back in November, it was interesting to hear what some of their picks were.

Tekken Revolution Support to Cease in March 2017

Bad news for players of Tekken Revolution was recently announced. The free-to-play fighting game on the PlayStation 3 will cease operations effective March 21, 2017. Given that the game had been pulled from the European PlayStation Store, the writing was on the wall for this title.

The removal of this game from Bandai Namco support around this time could give some lingering hope for the release date of Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. The newest in the Tekken lineup is still slated for a Q1 or Q2 2017 release, and the cessation of Tekken Revolution falls right between the two windows. While this is merely speculation, it’s quite possible that we could see the release of Tekken 7 fall within two weeks either way of the demise of Tekken Revolution.

Marvel at Juri’s New V-Trigger Combos and Meaty Setups in Season Two of Street Fighter V

There’s a lot of new tech from everyone’s favorite Taekwondo sadist Juri coming out that makes her look leaps and bounds more viable than she was in Season 1. Earlier, we talked about how dangerous her anti air game could be, with her being able to do Tekken-like juggles after an anti-air.
