GamerHub TV interviews SetToDestroyX’s Allister Singh on Pokkén Tournament DX’s reception

GamerHubTV was able to corner SetToDestroyX’s Pokkén Tournament DX Pro Allister Singh and get a quick — and insightful — interview. They probably couldn’t have picked a better player, since this MewTwo pro is fresh off of back-to-back major wins from GameTyrant Expo and SCR 2017.

Allister explains during the Q&A why Pokkén Tournament DX is the answer to the Pokkén community’s prayers, his own professional training regiment, and what changes he wants to see to Namco’s Pokémon fighter. (Hint: it has nothing to do with re-balancing.)

Pick up Tekken 7’s Katarina’s kicks fast in cutcc’s “QuickNotes” series

cutcc is back with more of his “QuickNotes” series for Tekken 7! This series is designed to lay out the fundamentals of a Tekken character in as compact a video as possible, and today’s subject is Savate practitioner Katarina Alves.

Playing inexperienced Katarinas online might leave you to believe you only need the right kick button on your arcade stick. And that’s a shame, because Katarina’s range, wall carry, and punishment options are all pretty spectacular. Her damage output, particularly with Rage Drive combos, is nothing to ignore, either.

Improve your Lucario’s lockdown with Phase Shift frame traps in Pokkén Tournament DX

In most cases, frame traps are easily identified in Pokkén Tournament DX: whenever you block a move with hefty frame advantage, the entire screen flashes yellow for a brief moment in time. However, there’s one situation where it’s not so obvious that you’ve been frame trapped: immediately after a Phase Shift.

Lucario has a particularly good use for this, off of his Field Phase grab and charged Homing Attack. 21 Hits‘s latest video covers these tools and the powerful mix-ups they create.

BigEGaming adds Pokkén Tournament DX to October 14th’s Board Street Battle tournament

Board Street Battle is a major taking place on Oct. 14th in Philadelphia, PA, and it’s already an important stop for the Red Bull Proving Grounds, Curleh Circuit and Burst League. As of today, you can add the Pokkén Arena Circuit to this list:

Pokkén Tournament DX has been added as a main title to the Big E Sponsored tournament, with future announcements to come. Big E tournaments have been an integral part of the Pokkén Tournament scene since their beginnings at Final Round 19. With a new update to the series and $1000 pot bonus secured at another Big E tournament (NEC18), the continued support comes as no surprise.

Pick up Eliza in Tekken 7’s with mastermind’s comprehensive breakdown

For Street Fighter players who want to play Tekken 7 but didn’t quite find a home with Akuma, Eliza is an excellent alternative. She still shares many of the 2D attributes that paved the way for Akuma (such as a Dragon Punch, meter, and fireball) but has a less polarized move list full of decent mid pokes and an actual command grab.

The latest tutorial video by mastermind goes over her excellent list of punishment options, meter management, and combo damage. For those that learn best from lecture-style videos, this hour-long comprehensive guide is everything you’ll need to start your Eliza conversion.

Legion Tekken demonstrates King’s unblockable wake-up game in Tekken 7

While there are many options when getting up off the ground in Tekken 7, in most cases a tech roll is one of the safer options you can employ. There are ways for the opponent to punish tech rolls, of course, and few are as painful (or as gimmicky) as getting hit by an unblockable.

And if you find yourself matched up against Tekken 7′s King, staying on the ground to avoid the unblockable sets yourself up for one of his many ground grabs. All of this is demonstrated (from ranked matches, no less) in LEGION TEKKEN‘s latest video.

There’s also some bonus wall combo content showing the hilarious damage output of King’s parry in a very specific, wholly unrealistic situation.

Uncage the tigers with Kazumi’s wall-to-wall Rage Drive combos for Tekken 7

The matriarch of the Mishima clan genuinely doesn’t care what stage you pick against her. Get an infinite stage and she can zone with running 2 without fear of getting cornered. If she gets a walled stage, her incredible wall carry comes into play in her juggles.

And if she lands those juggle starters while she’s in Rage? Then you should get ready for a world of hurt. As BloodHawkTR demonstrates here, Kazumi has wall-to-wall, 70%+ combos off of her ff+4, which is a safe 20 frame mid. The crux of the damage comes from the Rage Drive ender at the wall, which has the unusual property of giving a second wall-splat.
