Japanese player S.T.L shares his exceptional multi-character Tekken 7: Fated Retribution combo video

On his Twitter bio, S.T.L considers himself the “combo craftsman of the Tekken world.” After seeing his latest combo video, which makes extensive use of counter-hit-only standing links, off-axis hits, and odd wall re-splats, it’s easy to see why he’s earned this title.

“S.T.L COMBO MOVIE 8” features combos for Bob, Law, Josie, Devil Jin, Nina, Master Raven, Feng, Lili, Claudio, Yoshimitsu, Leo, Paul, and Bryan. For me, the show-stealer is Nina’s link off CH b+4 (a move many people may not know is an astounding +18 on counter-hit) into a frame tight uf+2,1. There aren’t many links in Tekken, and Nina’s b+4 isn’t the most iconic move in the world. It takes a real student of the series to put together, and pull off, combo demonstrations like this.

Gatoray demonstrates fireball invincibility buff for EX Assault Raptor in King of Fighters XIV

Can’t get past fireballs as King of Dinosaurs? Pop Max Mode and say goodbye to all your projectile-based worries!

One of the buffs that Version 2.00 of King of Fighters XIV brought the prehistoric wrestler is projectile invincibility on his jumping command grab, “EX Assault Raptor”. While it’s unlikely Joe will spend his entire meter full screen, Gatoray’s most extreme examples are an entertaining look at just how strong Dinosaur’s Max Mode options are now. Between this and normal Assault Raptor’s new ability to grab crouching opponents, King of Dinosaurs has real uses for his big, leaping bites.

Check out Mikado Arcade’s “Samurai War 2017”, a Samurai Shodown tournament series

This past week has been a special time for Mikado Arcade. 侍大戦2017, or “Samurai War 2017”, is a sprawling Samurai Shodown event that tackles every game in the series. If you’ve been wanting to see high level Samurai Shodown gameplay but unsure where to start, well, why not try sampling them all? No entry in the series is overlooked- everything from the 1993 series debut, to the 2008’s 3D fighter, Samurai Shodown Sen.

In addition to seeing just how the series changed (and in some ways, didn’t) over the years, it’s also a great way to introduce yourself to parts of the franchise you were unaware of. I personally think I might pick up a copy of Sen after this, as the string-and-juggle-heavy gameplay is certainly a change of pace.

BornFree interviews Ronin’s Alex Myers just after breaking top 8 at Dreamhack Austin in Street Fighter V

Ronin | Alex Myers, high off his wins over EG|K-Brad and CJ Truth at Dreamhack Austin, found time before competing in top 8 to sit down with popular interviewer BornFree. Where most would likely work on practicing for their next matches, Alex generously talked for nearly an hour with BornFree about a long list of topics: Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, character selection, Dreamhack, tier lists, the state of SFV, and much more.

There’s a lot of little details revealed you may not have known about Alex, going in. For example, he got into the competitive scene because of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but didn’t really find his footing in high level play until he switched to Street Fighter 4. If you wanted to know more about the Cammy pro, this is an entertaining listen!

Brian Kasugano shares new Saki Infinite for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, larger combo video on the way

Likely inspired by the resurgence of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom events–such as the netplay Summer League and the TvC exhibition in Tokyo, YouTuber Brian Kasugano shares a new infinite with us for the Quiz Nanairo Dreams character, Saki.

The infinite hits inconsistently on some characters in the cast due to the tight placement of the energy ball, whose lingering hitbox is necessary to keep the loop going. This quirky and likely impractical loop may not see competitive play, but according to Brian, there’s a larger TvC combo video on the way. In that light, this is a great teaser. It’s great to see old gems continuing to get new combo content so much later in their lives!
