Tekken 7 Season 2 roundup: Bryan double taunt Juggles, PepperBeef2Spicy’s Lei, and more!

Hope you haven’t gotten tired of Season 2 in Tekken 7 yet. Judging by the avalanche of videos still being made about new content, we have to assume so. Let’s see the latest Tekken tech from the FGC!

There’s a lot of incredibly difficult combo variations Anna players can choose from. xMTSento mercifully offers a high damage alternative for her DF+2 that nets 68 without breaking your fingers.

Did someone order a 151 damage Asuka combo? strider0317‘s got you covered.

Now that Dragunov’s D+2 has completely changed, so has the mixup situation surrounding it. Nerobianco helps break down how to think about one of Drag’s most common moves.

Pro player PepperBeef2Spicy put together a montage to demonstrate why you, me, and the world should play Lei Wulong.

Claudio’s wall bounce may have some of the most damage potential in the game, if you’re willing to learn some ridiculous combos like these from ApocryphicV for it.

Last but not least, Usman Hitman shows off some absurd technical wizardry with his latest Bryan combo act. While some of this are clearly training mode only combos, you have to marvel at the will and creativity to do stuff like doubling with back-to-back taunts.

Thanks to everyone that submitted content to us! If you have some Tekken 7 tech you’d like to share with the world, reach out to us through our tipline.

SNK SOUND TEAM releases 32 classic game soundtracks spanning The King of Fighters series, Fatal Fury, and more!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always found that the bright synth horns and crunchy guitars of old SNK games light up a part of my brain most game soundtracks fail to do. Maybe I’m just a sucker for what they do, but given the way people go crazy for “Arashi no Saxophone” from The King of Fighters series, I’m sure I’m not the only one.

If you have a favorite SNK soundtrack (even if it’s just the unsettling ambient sounds from The Last Blade!) there’s a good chance you can now buy it through one of several digital and physical distributors. Everything from Apple-to-Amazon is indexed here in SNK’s Facebook post, so go check it out to see if your preferred music-grabbing choice is listed. You can even listen to the tracks through subscription services like Spotify.

New ARIKA clip teases Fighting EX Layer for Steam

ARIKA, the company of masterclass trolls that they are, revealed their plans to release their indie fighter Fighting EX Layer onto the Steam platform in a short clip today.

This is big news for a lot of reasons, not the least of which because ARIKA was adamant that there would be no focus on the Steam version unless FEXL did well enough monetarily on PlayStation 4. That we’re getting this tease fairly early into the game’s lifespan is a good sign for how well ARIKA is doing, to say the least.

Arc System Works wants your questions about the ArcRevo World Tour

With Arc System Works joining the JeSU and launching their own World Tour series, it’s more vital than ever before for the anime-powered company to stay connected to its fans. In that light, it’s no surprise that they’ve called for their fanbase’s feedback on their latest venture: the ArcRevo World Tour.

If you’ve got a twitter — which, if you’re in the FGC, you probably do — then throw all your ArcRevo questions to ArcSys by simply responding to the tweet above.

GamerGen shares exclusive SoulCalibur VI sets with top French players

French players are very lucky in the pre-release environment of SoulCalibur VI. Not only are top players like Hayate and Kayane heavily involved in playtesting the game, but it turns out that quite a few of France’s big names — such as SCII Astaroth legend Saitoh and SCV World Tournament grand finalist Akire — also got to try out SCVI’s latest build through French gaming website GamerGen.

We’ve collected the footage from GamerGen below. Get out your notepads, this is some of the best gameplay you can find right now (and in the case of Seong Mi-Na, nearly the only competent footage of her in existence at the moment.)

Capcom announces 3v3 Japanese Street Fighter League for 2019

With the intent to capitalize on the blooming esports industry in Japan, Capcom has officially announced a new team-based league for 2019: the Street Fighter League.

League matches are currently planned to feature 3-on-3 team battles, with six teams formed from a mix of both officially JeSU-pro licensed and unlicensed competitors. Capcom hopes to start in the Spring of ’19, though no date has officially been set yet.

This makes them the second fighting game company this month officially revealing plans to take advantage of Japan’s new Japanese eSports Union, right behind Arc System Works.

This “Equilibrium Calculator for Fighting Games” plots out theoretical, optimal play

If you’ve ever dived into the world of game theory and didn’t immediately run away screaming once you started reading about minimax values, then JP Street Fighter V player karamaru has a tool made just for you.

The Equilibrium Calculator for Fighting Games allows you to plug in the reward (or punishment) damage you would receive for several options from a single situation, and ranks which strategies are best for both the player on offense and defense. This tool was designed for SFV okizeme, but its editable fields allow you to tweak the tool for virtually any fighting game. This tool’s output doesn’t necessarily tell you what to do, but rather, what options are the most rewarding in a vacuum when you have no information on a player.

You can play around with the Equilibrium Calculator for Fighting Games here.

Speedkicks shares his love of Tekken 7 Season 2 in this new BornFree interview

“For me, a video game is a puzzle with an objective to figure out. Spending that time understanding how win a game of Tekken, that’s where the fun is.”

Speedkicks is easily one of the Tekken scene’s most recognizable top talents. What might be less known is that the journey he took to get there started in Tekken Tag Tournament 2‘s beta test — and a lot of labbing to understand the puzzle that is fighting games, as opposed to some nebulous goal of “being the best”.

In his hour-long interview with BornFree, he shares his origin story, his love of Season 2’s re-balance, and his concern over Tekken World Tour’s new format. If you want to learn more about a top Tekken player’s mindset, this is the interview to watch!
