Automatic Replay Viewer adds support for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

If you play Skullgirls or Rivals of Aether on PC, there’s a good chance you either use (or have heard of) taylorsussex‘s Automatic Replay Viewer. This program allows for sets of consecutive replays to be played back automatically, and can start/stop recording software such as OBS with a hotkey. It does this by simulating the inputs required to playback a specified amount of replays, making it useful for recording long sets without the system strain.

If that sounds good to you and you play BlazBlue:Cross Tag Battle, well…

There you go. To download the program and read the latest versions patch notes, head over to GitHub.

“NKI Volume XII” shows off disjointed hurtboxes, soft-locks, and more oddities of Super Street Fighter II Turbo

Few people have the understanding of Super Street Fighter II Turbo‘s science as the creator of NKIvideos. He’s been breaking Street Fighter for an extraordinary amount of time, and his combo videos are the results of an incredible amount of experimentation and understanding of the game’s stranger mechanics and behaviors. His latest (excellent) video is no exception:

If you love reading about the weird ways these interactions came to be, you owe it yourself to check out the transcripts here. More than just a combo video, the full transcript lays out the exact details of every combo, odd interaction, and glitch.

Hayate shares new SoulCalibur VI gameplay featuring Raphael, Cervantes

French YouTuber and SoulCalibur pro Hayate EIN is back to demo the new options of the returning characters Raphael and Cervantes. As with his other videos, these are the earliest insights we have to the TGS-only build characters, so let’s jump in and take a look at their new abilities!

Raphael has (as far as we can be aware of right now) one of the game’s only cancelable Reversal Edges, and it seems uniquely powerful. His cancel isn’t just a slow return to neutral like Taki’s — he goes straight into his “Preparation Parry” auto-GI stance, able to attack relatively quickly. Fitting for a fencer!

Aesthetically, Cervantes looks fantastic. Several of his advancing attacks now have a visual that show that he’s propelling himself by the musket in his gun. Gameplay wise, there’s some interesting new tools: 1AB has a crazy new followup that may combo on counter-hit and definitely goes into one of the coolest new attack throw animations in the game.

Tekken 7 Season 2 roundup: Eddy late FC 3+4 links, Master Raven wall bounces, and more!

Will the well of tech from Tekken 7 Season 2 ever dry up? Probably not, with over 1,600 changes made this season. You know the drill by now — the community is working hard to break down Season 2, and we’re here to collect their discoveries. Let’s jump in!

Let’s open first with something that isn’t technically new to Season 2 (or even to Tekken, period!) but is likely not well known: a spacing-based link for Eddy!

Asuka was buffed hard in Season 2, so if you want to make the switch over to the most popular Kazama in ranked, these combos are a good place to start.

Master Raven is blessed with a wall bounce not buried underneath a string, and she’s capable of some absurd damage from it to boot. (And check out the 75% F+4 rage combo at the end.)

Amir Ab97 has an excellent multi-character combo video for us, with particular focus on Nina, Anna, and Lei.

Last for today, Napo 2D GR will put the fear of Heihachi in you.

Thanks to everyone that submitted content to us! If you have some Tekken 7 tech you’d like to share with the world, reach out to us through our tipline.

FrameWhisperer explains why Wall Bounces aren’t working in Tekken 7 Season 2

“Season 2 is a huge success overall … but it’s unfortunate that ‘Wall Bounces’ are way too weak.”

When the Season 2 trailer first dropped for Tekken 7, the appearance of “Wall Bounce” — what was previously a Geese only mechanic — was as mystifying as it was terrifying. Damage is so high already when you get slapped into a wall — how can you make them better, and why would you?

Whatever fears people had of its strength, though, it seems like the exact opposite ended up being the problem: The stage spacing requirements, coupled with several characters having their lone wall bounce move locked behind a string, has led to this new mechanic being a novelty, at best. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though, as FrameWhisperer points out in his latest analysis of the new mechanic — just a disappointing one.

Nintendo fulfills the wish of terminal cancer patient to play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

I don’t know what it’s like to find out what your expiration date is, and to know that it’s soon. I imagine, to handle that information, requires a great deal of strength, reflection, and maturity. On the other side, to respect someone going through something like terminal cancer, such as what Smash player Chris “SpookyWoobler” Taylor currently faces, requires maturity as well. And empathy. Real, red-blooded human empathy.

That isn’t a quality usually assigned to mega corporations, but let it be said unequivocally — whatever individuals heard about Chris’s story at Nintendo: they have that empathetic quality and maturity.

After surviving and beating back cancer treatment three times, Chris received the news that there was nothing left to do about Round 4, and that he had lost. Some months later, he expressed his very understandable fear that he might not make it to see Super Smash Brothers Ultimate‘s release. This, through the strange power of Twitter, made its way to Nintendo themselves, whom showed up with an E3 build at his doorstep and gave him and two close friends a few hours with the game itself.

This story was originally reported and organized by Nintendo Everything, and can be read over on their site.

Good on Nintendo for setting an example. We don’t know how many other gaming companies could or would organize such an act of empathy. Preferably, let’s never have to find out.

Tekken 7 Season 2 Roundup: Anna 50/50s at wall, Lei Rage Drive setups, and more!

Another day, another tech roundup for Tekken 7 Season 2. You know the drill by now — the community is working hard to break down Season 2, and we’re here to collect their discoveries. Let’s jump in!

Let’s open up today with some Anna tech, courtesy of UYU_Fergus — since she can spike off a wall combo, she gets this incredibly juicy 50/50 at the wall.

He’d also like to remind you that Anna’s RA can be performed from crouch, giving her a uniquely strong punish tool in specific match-ups:

Scallywag 93 covers Claudio’s changes, and explains why we were all wrong about our fear of Claudio’s starburst-less moves.

REEKEE shows off a juggle into Heihachi’s 10-string. Disrespectful and damaging.

xMTSento developed some of Xiaoyu’s most disgusting setups in Season 1, and it’s no surprise he’s got more dirty tricks in Season 2.

And closing us out today is Mellowlink, who gives a rundown on the ups and downs of each of Lei’s Rage Drives, with setups to boot.

Thanks to everyone that submitted content to us! If you have some Tekken 7 tech you’d like to share with the world, reach out to us through our tipline.

Hayate EIN shares Astaroth, Talim gameplay preview for SoulCalibur VI

Hayate EIN, French SoulCalibur pro and YouTuber, has been incredibly gracious the past few days. In a continuing effort to share as much SoulCalibur VI info as he can, he’s following up yesterday’s Final Build preview with some short footage of his first try-outs with newly added characters Talim and Astaroth.

One of the most surprising changes Astaroth has is a new armored, slow command grab — certainly a different take on the way he worked before, if this is meant to replace his old command grabs.

Talim’s 33A seems to be capable of dominating close range again, and her new wind blast from her auto-dodge does an absurd amount of damage.
