Street Fighter V Kage Day One Roundup — Tiger Knee Tatsu Crossup, VT1 cancels, Kazunoko’s Kage,and more!

Ryu has given in to the Satsui no Hadou, giving him the ability to anime air-dash and wear LED horns. It also gave him a name change — He’s Kage, now — and a new character slot in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition! Capcom made the new “Eviler Ryu” available for download during Capcom Cup and players have, unsurprisingly already started dissecting the “returning” Shadow Shoto. Let’s see what the community has cooked up!

First, we have some basic bread n’ butter combos for meterless, V-Trigger 1, and V-Trigger 2 setups. Looks like Kage dragged Street Fighter IV’s FADC mechanic along with him!

Kage has a nice little crossup versus standing opponents with Air Tatsu.

And it becomes a nightmare mixup tool when used meaty.

Oh, and speaking of meaties, Kage has the tools to ruin opponents that like to use quick rise.

And closing us out today, let’s look into what the pros are doing on day one: Poongko and Kazunoko are both already rocking scary looking Kages!

ZeRo demonstrates fundamental movement options for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

ZeRo was the most dominate Super Smash Bros. Wii U player, and the only Evo champion to not drop a single game in the entirety of his championship run. Needless to say, if there’s someone that understands the strength of fundamentals, it’s this guy:

Gigas is still in Tekken! That Blasted Salami breaks Gigas’s Season 2 changes, and why you shouldn’t underestimate him

When the Season 2 patch first dropped for Tekken 7, one of its most controversial changes were those given to the local Big Red Monster, Gigas. Despite his muscles and intimidating presence, he was considered one of the weakest characters in the game — So to suffer nerfs in safety and frame advantage seemed, at the time, tone-deaf on the part of Namco.

Now that the dust has settled, though, That Blasted Salami‘s latest video — which covers all of Gigas’s changes in Season 2 –points out the retooling Gigas has received in place of his losses ultimately make him a better character at both punishing and footsies. Things like 21 jailing, or the reduced recovery on stance transitions, go a long way. Gigas might not be as strong as the rest of the cast still — and in a post Marduk world, perhaps he faces a certain amount of irrelevance — but you should be careful against him all the same. Remember, Panda won TWT.

The King of Fighters XIV is free-to-play on Steam this weekend, 75% off till Dec. 17th
