AutoMattock evaluates Falke’s gameplan and viability in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

One of the hardest-working voices in developing tech for each of the new Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s DLC characters has consistently been AutoMattock. After his various tech bibles on Zeku and Kolin, its no surprise that he’s set his sights on the Guardian Hawk, Falke.

AutoMattock‘s latest video breaks down some of the common pitfalls you may run into when picking up Falke, and evaluates where he expects her tournament viability to end up in the long run. Check out the video above for a crash course in sniping fundamentals and footsies from one of the FGC’s most innovative players.

Get a taste of these Android 21 switchless touch-of-death combos for Dragon Ball FighterZ

With the promise (or threat, depending upon what character you play) of a new Dragon Ball FighterZ balance patch on the horizon, its important to pay close attention to what new tech comes out near the end of the current version. After all, if new tech is found now, how likely is it to slip through to the next patch?

Case in point — Y. Xiao‘s latest CMV for Android 21. This character’s damage potential has been good since day one, but Y. Xiao‘s use of stolen moves to create loops is some next-level flash. Although it’s somewhat terrifying for its ability to allow switch-less touch-of-death combos, we hope this incredible (and situational) combo utility survives the update.

Windjammers will be at AnimEvo 2018 with a free-entry side tournament; Top 4 on Evo side stage

The past few years have been incredibly kind to the FGC’s favorite sports game, Windjammers. The Data East-developed competitive flying-disc game saw resurgence through its DotEmu port to modern consoles, and the company has kept momentum through its “Windjammers Flying Power League” esports league.

Much like a set of volleys between two skilled players, it doesn’t look like the Windjammers momentum will slow anytime soon:

Windjammers will not only have its own free-to-enter tournament at AnimEvo, but the top 4 will jam is an Evo 2018 side stage event. It was just a year ago that Windjammers was vying for a slot through Evo 2017’s poll — if there was ever a lesson in determination working miracles, Windjammers’ improbable rise to Evo prominence is it.

You can sign up for the tournament through AnimEvo’s registration page.

BoxeR-King demonstrates how avoid Hellsweeps in Tekken 7

The Hellsweep is defining characteristic of Mishima archetype in the Tekken series. These fast, unseeable, knockdown lows form the basis of their mix-up tools in Tekken 7 and are, in general, an incredible annoyance for most players to deal with.

Like most things in Tekken 7, though, you can use sharp, clever movement to ease the burden of trying to guess when the Hellsweep is coming. Check out BoxeR-King‘s video above to learn about how to properly step the sweep, and what to do when your opponent knows about your anti-sweep step strategy.

BornFree interviews Dragon Ball FighterZ pro Echo Fox|dekillsage

dekillsage discusses his FGC past, present, and future after his win against Sonic Fox.

Jon “dekillsage” Coello remembers his first tournament — a Super Smash Bros. Brawl local — as his starting point in the FGC. He admits that he likely wouldn’t be in the FGC at all, frustrated by his skill level compared to his peers, were it not for a local player inviting him to play with them afterward. Those are humble beginnings for a player that would go on to be a Skullgirls Evo Champ and obtain a sponsorship from esports giants Echo Fox.

Given his recent victory over the nigh-invulnerable Sonic Fox in Dragon Ball FighterZ and his consistent tournament results, this interview with the FGC’s favorite interviewer, BornFree, is a must watch. Find out about dekillsage’s favorite games, his hopes for DBFZ’s incoming patch, his thoughts on the DLC leak, and more in the video above.

Dutch multi-game major “Red Bull Strijders – Fight Club II” set for May 12th

A few months ago, Red Bull Esports partnered with the Esports Game Arena in the Netherlands for a night of FGC action. The event, called “Red Bull Strijders – Fight Club“, featured Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. If you happen to be in the Netherlands around that time, you can find more information and sign up for the event here.

Learn Tekken 7’s Master Raven in That Blasted Salami’s comprehensive breakdown

Master Raven in Tekken 7 is one of the game’s most unorthodox and counter-intuitive characters. Not only is this difficultly by design, as the nearly hour-long character breakdown from That Blasted Salami demonstrates, this intentional learning curve is both a blessing and a curse:

This keep-out centered oddball’s toolkit defies convention. Between her back-turned options and unusual strings, she’s as difficult for new players to learn properly as she is for her opponents to defend against. Virtually her entire kit is a knowledge check, and with proper spacing and reading, you can set the strangest traps and whiff punish into big damage.

Galactic Citizens, G-Agents are being dispatched to your location.

Players in on the Punch Planet Early Access are in for a treat — the time-policing “G-Agent” has been revealed and unleashed online, and he looks like a blast:

The ultra-stylish G-Agent is close to the classic “Shoto” archetype, thanks to his fireball and up-kicking DP-type move, but fleshes out his move-list with limber acrobatics and truly menacing posing.

Punch Planet is currently in the Alpha stages, and its final release date is TBD. You can get in on its early access through the Steam Store page.

Top Brazilian Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition play is on display in these Jam Pro League #2 VODs

JAM Festival 2018 is a ranking event in Brazil for the Capcom Pro Tour, and it will be the last chance for Latin American Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition players to score CPT points. Considering this is a country that’s responsible for strong players like Keoma, DidimoKOF, Brolynho, and more, you can expect that JAM Festival 2018 will be the site of many difficult, exciting battles.

As you may remember from last month, the same scene that’ll be out in full force at Jam Festival 2018 is grinding away in their own JAM Pro League. Just like before, Brazilian tournament organizer Mwisk has graciously put together English post-match commentary of JAM Pro League #2‘s finals, which you can check out in the playlist below.

This league is a monthly event for Brazilian players, and you can catch the next event live (and in Portuguese) at their Twitch page on May 12th.
