Lately, Tekken Youtuber BoxeR-King has been giving us a rundown on all things sidestep related. Recently, he covered how to shut down your opponent’s options with a sidestep guard — but this is not appropriate for every situation.
Sometimes you’ll want to Sidestep Duck instead. Take the example of Steve’s Peekaboo stance — you might think you have to respect a mix-up after you get hit by PAB d+1 because of its frame advantage, but the truth is that a proper sidestep gets you away from the majority of his options.
The DLC Prince of Tekken 7 comes equipped with an assortment of weapons your average Tekken player may not be ready for. Between his giant range, strong parry, and versatile projectile, Noctis can blow up unsuspecting players with knowledge checks alone. But it doesn’t have to be this way!
If the Final Fantasy XV protagonist is consistently wiping your party in ranked, then FrameWhisperer Tekken‘s latest tutorial is right for you. In it, he covers some common problem tools you’ll run into — Running 1+2, Parry Setups, etc. — and how you can defend yourself against them.
It’s been a few days now since the initial release of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s latest DLC character, Falke. The footsie-favoring Guardian Hawk is proving to be a lot more versatile then initial impressions led us to believe — let’s take a look at what the FGC has cooked up for her thus far!
Let’s start out with some basics. VesperArcade leads the way with BnBs and practical hit-confirms.
Just because Falke is based around her far-range, doesn’t mean she’s a slouch up close. Check out these frame traps from World Warrior FGC!
How are the best in the world playing Falke right now? Well, let’s take a look at these Infiltration replays and see.
If desk considers a combo impractical, you know you’re in for a good time.
And closing us out today is Stephen Kiluk, who shows Falke can run vortexes in the corner with the best of them.

Not sure of what to do when you knock someone down in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition? Are you wondering how the pros seem to be able to safely run mix-ups constantly on knocked-down opponents, when you can’t stop a wake-up jab or DP to save your life? It sounds like it’s time for you to learn about creating safe meaty setups.
For the beginners out there, a “meaty” is the (unfortunate) term used to describe a situation where you place an attacking hitbox over an opponent as they get up. This will allow you to stuff the almighty crouching jab on wake-up, scoring you a counter-hit and big damage. If you’ve always wondered how to create a setup like this, the latest entry in World Warrior FGC‘s “Git Gud” series is here to show you how!

If you have even the slightest interest in high level Tekken 7, you owe it to yourself to open up some free time during April 28th and 29th. Why? Well…
Korea, perennial home of the greatest players in the world in Tekken, is having its Masters event. 239 players across 8 pools will battle it out in what will undoubtedly be one of the toughest battle grounds on the TWT tour. You can catch the action on the official Tekken Twitch channel, and get a glimpse at some of tough brackets here on Challonge.
Falke is now out in the wild of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition! The latest season 3 DLC character looked likely to be more zoning and footsies-oriented then your typical SFV character — but does she live up to expectations? Let’s take a look at what the community was able to put together with her and find out!
To start, marlonlonmilk shows us some beginner-to-advanced combos, and also demonstrates the execution needed for her combo challenges.
Xian’s Falke already appears to have decent neutral, somehow. His midrange control is excellent, and will only get better from here.
Rikk demonstrates the mix-up potential with Falke’s divekick — shades of Rolento!
Of course, desk is one of the first out of the gate with some of the longest and most unusual combos out there.
GameTricks shows off a little Easter egg — Falke’s German Lesson!
And closing us out today is Doopliss, whom shows us both some excellent mid-range combo loops and disgusting resets.

When you start your Tekken 7 journey, you can glean a simple understanding of how its step system works by just playing around. Simply put, you can step around non-homing moves, and you can’t step homing moves. Easy enough, right?
As you progress, however, you begin to learn that some non-homing moves can track quite well, and sometimes these moves are also a part of your opponent’s main offense. (Hello, Dragunov D+2, you disgustingly versatile tool, you.) This is the squishy middle ground of Tekken’s step system that can become very confusing to understand without guidance — and that’s where BoxeR-King‘s Step Guard tutorial comes in.
Since step is cancelable into guard, you can option-select many offensive options and remain safe. This is even true of many homing moves, since they tend to be on the slower side. However, it takes an understanding of how your step interacts with your opponent’s movelist. The tutorial above can help you approach learning about — and manipulating — these complex situations.
When version 3.0 dropped for The King of Fighters XIV, some characters made it out in better shape then others. One of the characters that made it out considerably better than their previous incarnation was Geese’s butler, Hein — and if you aren’t caught up as to why that is, Apolo Loussalier has the scoop right here:
Backdash buffs, more damage, and new anti-DP setups with “Castling” allow Hein to stay mobile, hit harder, and keep the threat of pressure always on. If there was ever a time to brush up on your manners and play Hein, it’s now.
“Reading is not just pattern recognition… it’s understanding how they think.”
“How did Daigo just walk up and Dragon Punch that guy?” is a sentence that has been said more then once by announcers in the FGC. It might seem like a player is psychic when they make an incredible correct guess in fighting games, but the skill being tested isn’t supernatural. “Reading”, as Frabisaur explains in his latest tutorial video, is deduction, not precognition. Like any other skill, you can hone your ability to deduce through character and match study — check out the video above to find out how!
