Your wish is granted: Check out this Dragon Ball Z stage mod for Street Fighter V on PC

One of the most popular way to modify Street Fighter V’s aesthetics on PC is to swap character models out with those of characters from other popular franchises. This next mod, however, doesn’t change a character–but rather an entire stage. Created by Monkeygigabuster, this mod lets Street Fighter characters duke it out in Kami’s Lookout from Dragon Ball Z. The stage comes complete with two wish-granting dragons (Shenron and Porunga) watching the action from the background.

Interested players can get the stage mod (which players can choose to replace either Frosty Boulevard, or the training stage) over at Monkeygigabuster’s DeviantArt page. In the meantime, check the stage mod in action in this video from XusesGB.

Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition is on sale at the Microsoft Store

While the game itself can initially be tried for free, the easiest way to get the complete Killer Instinct experience is to purchase the game’s Definitive Edition which contains all 3 seasons worth of DLC characters. Now may be the perfect time to do so, as the Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition is currently on sale.

Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition is currently available for only $27.99 over at Microsoft’s online store. This represents a 30% discount off its original $39.99 price. Xbox Live Gold members can get the game for only $23.99–an additional $4 off the discounted price.

As previously stated, the Definitive Edition package contains all the characters, from all three seasons. In addition to this, it also comes with Killer Instinct Classic, which allows players to experience the 1994 original on their Xbox One.

Interested parties should head on over to Microsoft soon, however, as there is less than 24 hours remaining on the sale.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Skullgirls Encore for PlayStation 3 discounted as part of PSN’s Flash Sale

For any PlayStation 3 owners looking for some fighting games to play on their console, a couple of the best downloadable fighters on the system are currently on sale as part of a Flash Sale on the PlayStation Network.

Super Street Fighter II HD Remix, the rebalanced re-release of the classic Super Street Fighter II Turbo is currently on sale for only $3.99. The game features the original “Super Turbo” cast with a host of balance changes meant to tighten up the game’s admittedly lopsided match ups. In addition to this, it also features brand new HD sprites drawn by the artists over at Udon Entertainment and rollback netcode for some smooth, online combat.

For those looking for something more chaotic, Lab Zero’s Skullgirls Encore is also on sale for only $1.99. This eclectic fighter pays homage to the classic Marvel vs. Capcom 2, refining the many unintended mechanics of that game into a solid tag-team fighter. As with HD Remix, Skullgirls Encore also features rollback netcode, this time via the use of GGPO, the networking solution originally developed by Evo and Shoryuken co-founder Tom “Ponder” Cannon.

Any players interested in picking up either of these should hurry however, the flash sale ends at 1:00 PM on April 17.

Dr. Doom can TAC Infinite you from corner to corner in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because of course he can

Recently, we featured a corner to corner TAC Infinite for Magneto in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Now, we have yet another character who can unsurprisingly go the distance off a side TAC – Dr. Doom.

In the video below, datHazy demonstrates a variation of Dr. Doom’s TAC infinite (specifically, the Plasma Beam variant) that can get him and his victim from one corner to the other off a side TAC. The main difference is a down-forward air dash where Doom would just normally fall in the regular, corner variant combined with the lack of footdives usually used in the mid screen variants.

Everyone is Maya in this Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 model swap combo video

With Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 now on PC, mods where players swap a characters model with that of another have become quite common. In fact, we’ve even featured some of them here on Shoryuken. However, what about swapping the model of a non-playable assist character? And not only that, but making a combo video out of a team consisting of that character’s model swapped into an entire team. That’s exactly what Lythero has done in his new combo video.

The video in question, which you can see below, has every single member of Lythero’s team of Dante, Viewtiful Joe, and Phoenix Wright swapped in for the latter’s assistant Maya.  The result is this frankly bizarre looking combo video where what seems to be three different versions of a character, beating up their opponent. The icing on the cake however has to be “Devil Trigger Maya” who turns invisible (likely because she has no equivalent Devil Trigger model, like Dante), with only her sword as an indication of where she is and what she’s doing.

Marn talks to Yahoo! Esports about Julio Fuentes, SoCal Street Fighter, and more

One of the more unique and memorable players in our community is Rise’s Martin “Marn” Phan. Known for his outspoken nature and his amusing and–at times questionable–antics, the Vietnamese American veteran has been out of the spotlight somewhat after his top 4 performance at NorCal Regionals last year. However, his recent appearance at TBS’s ELEAGUE showed us that Marn is still here, and is still up to his usual behavior.

Yahoo! Esports’ Michael Martin recently got the chance to talk to Marn, and the latter wasted no time going all in. He spends a good amount of time focusing on Echo Fox|Julio Fuentes, who just barely outranked him at ELEAGUE to send him home, saying how the latter “wasted” his slot. In addition to this, he also has some things to say about the Southern California scene–and himself as well.

Go from corner to corner with this TAC Infinite for Magneto in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Magneto’s ability to carry his opponents to the corner is one of his biggest strengths in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. With just one straight hit, the “Master of Magnet” can scoop his opponent up and bring them to the corner; aside from doing this on point however, Magneto can also do this from a TAC.

In the video below, datHazy demonstrates a TAC infinite for Magneto that allows him to carry his opponent from one corner of the screen to the other. The TAC infinite itself requires a side TAC to set up. Once it is set up however, Magneto can not only carry his opponent to the opposite corner, but he can continue the infinite to eventually take out his opponent.

The Eternal Champions spiritual successor now has a name, and some sweet new mockup renders

As previously reported, Eternal Champions producer Michael Latham is working on a new project that aims to be the game’s spiritual successor (if not a new sequel outright, if they can get the rights). Now, in a new update on our forums, the team has revealed that the project now has a proper name.

The working title is “Eternal Successors”–an obvious reference that the game is a follow-up to Sega’s seminal 2D fighter from the ’90s. While the name does sadly remind us that they still don’t have the rights to use the original IP, at least we know that there’s a plan in place to move forward with or without them.

Further showing the teams resolve to move forward with the project are a couple of new test renders on Unreal Engine 4. The renders, which you can see below, are just mockups of how the game may eventually look.  One interesting thing, however, is the color palette that they used–which tries to match the style of the late comic book legend Ernie Chan, who did the art for the original Eternal Champions. In addition to this, the team has confirmed that they’re looking to add retro-styled filters as well.
