Final Showdown demonstrates massive damage for the team of Vegito, Teen Gohan, and Goku in Dragon Ball FighterZ

For the past couple of months, combo video wizard Final Showdown has been focusing on a Vegito, Teen Gohan, and Goku in Dragon Ball FighterZ.  With this in mind, it’s no surprise that he’s come up with ways to make these characters work together in combos.

The video below showcases the massive damage that this team can pull off, including Touch-of-death combos that do not use Sparking Blast.

In addition to this, Final Showdown has also shared a couple of older videos with combos for the same team. While the combos don’t always reach the heights that those in the video above do, they do showcase the concepts and ideas that he’s been working on.

Director Yohei Shimbori breaks down Dead Or Alive 6’s neutral game in Free Step Dodge interview

If you want to get a great break down of how an upcoming game is shaping up, then there’s no better people to ask than those who play said game competitively. This is what we have with a new, in depth, break down of Dead Or Alive 6‘s neutral game from Free Step Dodge’s Matt Ponton.

We’ve known about some of the many changes to Dead Or Alive 6 for some time now. In their latest article, Matt explains how these changes affect the game’s neutral in a way only a long time competitive player can. Long story short: the removal of mechanics such as Stagger Escape, Critical Threshold, as well as the reduction of Critical State means that DOA6 puts a much bigger focus on neutral over the stun game, making it feel much closer to Dead Or Alive 2 and Dead Or Alive 3 than it does to the prior 2 incarnations. He also puts the focus on certain mechanics that people have overlooked. This includes the Break Blow Cancel mechanic, which allows players to cancel out of a Break Blow to extend their combos, while retaining the Fatal Stun from it.

On top of the breakdown, there’s also a short interview he has with director Yohei Shimbori and community manager (and top player) Emmanuel “Master” Rodriguez. The interview covers a lot of ground regarding the design of Dead Or Alive 6‘s neutral game. This includes the series’ lack of throw breaks (and how they might add them in) and tweaks to the ground game. Additionally, Shimbori also confirms that a certain character who many thought dead after the events of DOA5 is still alive.

Of course, this is just a small part of what this extensive break down covers. Interested players should head on over to Free Step Dodge to read the whole thing.

Mikadok showcases itemless solo combos for Skullomania in SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy just recently added a second guest character (as well as its second gender-bent one) in the form of Skullomania. For those wondering what he — or rather, she — can do in this game, Mikadok has released a combo video for her.

The combo system in SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy does allow for a fair bit of creativity, despite the game’s simplified nature. Some of the things it allows, such as an air dash after certain moves, definitely lets Skullomania pull off some impressive-looking things. A couple of things that Mikadok doesn’t use in this video however are items and tag-ins – yes, all the combos here are done purely by Skullomania, without the help of others to extend them.

For anyone interested in learning how to pull off the combos in the video above, you can check out the notation for them, alongside other important information on playing the game, here.

Nacon and Bandai Namco France are releasing a limited-edition SoulCalibur VI Daija arcade stick with copies of the game in Europe

When SoulCalibur VI launches later this month, players wont be at a loss in terms of arcade sticks they can use for the game — one of those offerings is from accessory manufacturer Nacon, whom have announced that they to will be releasing a SoulCalibur VI themed edition of their Daija arcade stick for PlayStation 4.

The new stick is a limited-edition collaboration between Nacon and Bandai Namco France. The stick will go on sale on October 18 – earlier than the regular version of the Daija, which arrives in November. More importantly, it will come with a copy of SoulCalibur VI for PlayStation 4.

This limited-edition set will be available for purchase for €259.99. Sadly, no word has been released on whether this (or even the regular Daija) will be made available outside of Europe.

The Daija is a new arcade stick from Nacon that’s been designed with the input of top player and SoulCalibur veteran Marie-Laure “Kayane” Norindr. The stick, which is compatible with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC features genuine Sanwa Denshi parts, and a unique design with a textured wrist panel, foam base, and 3.5mm audio jack.

Team NINJA’s Yohei Shimbori would love to add cross-platform play to Dead or Alive 6

Cross-platform play is something that’s only recently becoming more common in gaming. While we’ve had attempts before — such as with Street Fighter V having cross-platform play across PS4 and PC — it’s only now that we’re starting to see efforts to allow it between rival consoles.

Now, at least one fighting game developer seems excited at this new development. Speaking to GamingBoltDead or Alive 6 director Yohei Shimbori stated that, while cross-platform play isn’t in the pipeline for the game, he would love to be able to add it. Specifically, he stated that cross-platform plays is “not something we can promise now, but it is one of my dreams”.

Fighting games are arguably one genre that would work well with cross-play; not only would it expand a fighter’s playerbase, but the difference in input methods aren’t as pronounced as in other genres such as shooters or strategy games.

Dead or Alive 6 launches on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on February 15, 2019.

Datamining hints that new Easter egg alternates for costumes that don’t have them are coming to Street Fighter V via Fighting Chance

One interesting feature that many of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition’s costumes have is their “Easter egg” variations that can be accessed by holding down certain buttons during the pre-fight versus screen (hold up and LK+LP+MP+HP until the round starts). Currently, only select costumes have this Easter egg — it’s a feature that is usually included on paid Premium DLC costumes. However, it seems that may change soon.

Dataminer X-Kira has revealed that Easter egg costume variations may be coming to costumes that don’t have them, via Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s Fighting Chance randomized loot box-ish system.

The Fighting Chance system works like a typical loot box system in other games, though it only accepts in-game Fight Money — and for the most part, it offers items for Survival mode, decorating the Dojo, and extra costume colors — the system however, is also used for exclusive costumes, such as “Cannon Spike” Cammy and original Street Fighter Sagat. However, instead of full costumes, what has been found here are alternate Easter egg variations for existing costumes.

X-Kira released a screenshot of the Easter egg variation of Ed’s costume, where he loses his cape and top, showing off the Shadaloo tattoo on his back:

In addition to this, they’ve also mentioned having spotted Easter eggs for the following costumes in the game’s code:

  • Balrog (default)
  • Ed (battle outfit 1)
  • Kolin (default, story, battle outfit 1)
  • M. Bison (default)
  • Menat (default, story)
  • Vega (default)
  • Zeku (battle outfit 1)

When we’ll see these implemented in the game properly is a mystery, until more information is uncovered — or until Capcom makes an official announcement.

My Hero One’s Justice DLC character Endeavor and arcade mode screenshots and details dropped

In preparation for the release of My Hero One’s Justice later this month, Bandai Namco has released a few more details regarding the game: specifically, they’ve released information and screenshots focusing on upcoming DLC character Endeavor, as well as the game’s arcade mode.

Fans of the franchise will recognize the Flame Hero Endeavor as the number 1 ranked hero in the series (after All Might’s retirement). He fights using flames that burst from his body and packs a lot of raw power, with attacks so strong that they recoil him away.

In addition to this, they’ve also released details of the game’s arcade mode. This mode has players fight their way up a ladder of 6 opponents, with each getting more difficult to defeat. Completing arcade mode earns players special items.

Endeavor, the hero currently holding the No. 1 spot, has raw, unrelenting, unbridled power that is matched only by the intensity of his anger. His personality is reflected in his fighting style, he fights with powerful and intense flames that burst from his body, reducing anything he touches to ash.

Despite suffering huge recoil when unleashing his signature moves, a successful hit causes devastating damage to his opponent. In addition, to his formidable close-range attacks, he’s also skilled with mid-range combat too. It will take players practice to master every aspect of Endeavor’s arsenal and crush their opponents without mercy.

A new game mode is also revealed today, Arcade Mode. In this mode players will fight against six consecutive opponent, each more difficult than the last. If victorious, players will receive special items as a reward!

My Hero One’s Justice arrives in the West on PlayStation 4, PC, Switch and Xbox One on October 26. In the meantime, check out these screenshots of Endeavor and arcade mode in the gallery below.

VesperArcade discusses what they’d like to see changed with Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition’s V-Triggers in Season 4

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s “V-System”, especially its V-Triggers, is a central aspect to the game. A character’s V-Triggers can define how they play and how strong they are in the meta.

In this new video, VesperArcade takes a look at the game’s V-Triggers and discusses what they’d like to see changed from this season, coming into the next. The basic gist of it is that they want more variety: there are some characters who were definitely favored with powerful Triggers, while others don’t really have a good V-Trigger at all.

Upcoming Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition update will improve the speed of the game’s inputs

Input lag is one of the things that can ruin the experience of any fighting game, and as such it’s something that players look out for. Street Fighter V infamously had input lag issues early in its life, before Capcom eventually fixed the issue… sort of. Now, it seems that Capcom will be further addressing input latency in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.

In a recent tweet, the official Street Fighter twitter account announced that they would “improve the speed of which inputs are registered” in an update set to drop on October 23.

This announcement is interesting considering that the game, as previously mentioned, had already received a patch that lowered its input delay a few years back. This, however, was done without the update that Epic released last year for Unreal Engine 4 (which powers Street Fighter V) that lowered the baseline input delay of the engine in general. [This was utilized by Bandai Namco to drop the input delay in Tekken 7 on PlayStation 4. – Editor]

Could this mean that Capcom is has finally upgraded the build of Unreal Engine 4 that Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is using to the versions with the lowered delay? Or have they found other ways to speed up the games inputs? We’ll find out on October 23, when the update drops.
