Touhou Project’s Urban Legend in Limbo for PlayStation 4 Adds New Playable Character

When it was first announced that the latest Touhou Project’s fighting game, Urban Legend in Limbo, was coming to PlayStation 4, some assumed that it would be exactly the same as the existing PC version of the game. We now know that that isn’t the case. The latest trailer reveals that the PlayStation 4 version of the title will add at least one new character: Reisen Udongein Inaba.

Originally a boss and later a playable character in previous Touhou shoot ’em up games, Reisen has also been playable in some of the previous Touhou fighting game spin-offs, making her a natural fit for Urban Legend in Limbo. In addition to her announcement, the trailer below also gives a few other details on the game’s story, indicating that it takes place after the most recent Touhou shoot ’em up installment, Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom.

Urban Legend in Limbo is set to be released on PlayStation 4, but an exact date has been set.

Arturo Sanchez Goes against Daigo Umehara, Fuudo in Street Fighter V Sets

Aside from running streams as part of Team Spooky, Arturo “Sabin” Sanchez has made a name for himself as one of the top-ranked Dhalsim players in Street Fighter V. As such, during a recent trip to Japan, he took time out to play against two of the country’s best players to see how his skills measure up.

Specifically, he played some first-to-five sets against both Keita “Fuudo” Ai from team Razer, as well as the Beast himself, Daigo Umehara, from team Mad Catz.

Ronin eSports Signs Alex Myers

With games like Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat X gaining more traction competitively, more and more eSports organizations are looking into signing fighting game players. Just recently, eLevate picked up Carl “Perfect Legend” White while Circa eSports signed Long “LPN” Nguyen.

Now, another well known fighting game player has been signed by yet another eSports team looking to get into the genre. Ronin eSports has announced that they have signed Alex Myers to represent them in Street Fighter V.

Originally making a name for himself in Street Fighter IV, Myers has had some strong showings in Street Fighter V, including finishing in the top 8 of the recently concluded Northwest Majors 8.

Ronin eSports currently fields teams in shooters such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, and Paladins. Alex Myers represents their first foray into competitive fighting games.

We here are Shoryuken with both Alex Myers and Ronin eSports the best in their new relationship.

Learn How to Deal with Street Fighter V’s Dhalsim from the Beast Himself

With his unique style that focuses on using nearly full-screen space control to set up mixups and offense, Dhalsim is one character that some players may have difficulty approaching in Street Fighter V. Any who’ve faced off against Dhalsim’s current version know that he’s much trickier than any of his previous incarnations.

Those having trouble with this match up can take heart, as none other than the Beast himself, Mad Catz’ Daigo Umehara, is here (with help from Jiyuna) to offer a new video showing his strategy for fighting against the Yoga master.

Do note that Daigo is approaching the matchup primarily as Ryu; that said, most of the tactics he discusses can work for most of the cast.

Canada Cup Returns this October

Canada Cup has always been one of the more hype events on the tournament calendar. Lap Chi Duong and his crew at Canada Cup Gaming have been doing their best to bring over some of the best players, even if it means that the tournament occasionally falls on hard times.

With this in mind, we’re happy to report that Canada Cup will be returning this year on October 28. The tournament will take place at the Holiday Inn at the Toronto International Airport in Toronto Canada, and will once again be a part of the Capcom Pro Tour as a premier event for Street Fighter V.

In addition to this, it will also host tournaments for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Guilty Gear Xrd, Tekken 7 Fated Retribution, Super Smash Bros., Mortal Kombat X, and Killer Instinct.

For those interested in attending, registration for Canada Cup 2016 opens on June 1. In the meantime, check out this new trailer for the event.

Check Out these Tekken 7 Top 16 Matches from Northwest Majors 8

For fans of Bandai Namco’s Tekken series, Northwest Majors 8 represented the 3rd stop on Tekken 7’s North American tour.

The event gave the northwest’s Tekken community a chance to not just take the game out for a spin, but to also compete in it before its (still) unspecified console release date.

As such, a good number of top Tekken players from the region were in attendance, such as Inkognito, Jimmy J. Tran, Kenji, RIP, and more.

For those who missed out on catching the action live during the tournaments stream, or who simply want to watch the matches again, Bandai Namco have now uploaded the replays from the top 16 of the tournament onto their channel. The BEAST Compiles Highlight Reel Featuring GIANTSWORD|gllty’s Dhalsim Play in Street Fighter V

Dhalsim is one of the most interestingly changed returning characters in Street Fighter V. The alterations the classic character received change him from a pure zoner to a fighter who thrives on tricky mixups gained from smart space control.

One of the players who has taken quite well to this revamped Dhalsim is Leah “gllty” Hayes from GIANTSWORD. In this new highlight reel, The BEAST shines a spotlight on gllty’s Dhalsim, showing tournament match moments from events like Texas Showdown, Northwest Majors and others.

Learn to Play Guile in Street Fighter V with Viscant’s Latest Edition of “Hit the Ground Running”

With Guile now out for Street Fighter V on PlayStation 4 and PC, many are likely wondering what this newest appearance means for the returning character. It’s this question and more that BROKENTIER’s Jay “Viscant” Snyder addresses in the latest edition of his “Hit the Ground Running” article series.

The first thing that Viscant notes is how some of Guile’s traditional buttons have slightly less range in Street Fighter V. This includes traditionally strong buttons such as crouching forward kick as well as his aerial normals.

Viscant also identifies some of Guile’s notable command normals that every player will want to learn, including Backfist (towards and fierce), Step Kick (neutral or back and roundhouse), Straight Punch (back and fierce), and Sobat Kick (back or towards and forward kick). These moves either act as crush counters, or move Guile forward while still keeping him relatively safe. Sobat Kick also allows for a combo on counter-hit, making it more useful than in previous games.

As for his Sonic Boom, based on the frame data, it’s arguably the best normal projectile in the game. Guile’s booms take only 38 frames of animation, compared to the other characters whose projectiles have over 40 frames of animation. Also, with +8 frame advantage on hit, Guile can always combo into a sweep as long as hes close enough.

His Flash Kick on the other hand is not a true reversal, except for the EX version. However, each version of the move comes with projectile and throw invulnerability during the relevant early frames, meaning that they will work in situations where you don’t need a true reversal.

The legendary Mikado Game Center at Takadanobaba Station in Tokyo’s Shinjuku ward has been hosting a number of events for Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- these past few weeks.

Fresh from hosting the Mikado Open a couple of weeks back, Mikado will be holding a special exhibition event featuring two of the game’s notable players this weekend.

Nakamura and his Millia will be going up against Karinchu’s Johnny in a first-to-seven set. Nakamura will be familiar to most players as one of the top 8 finalists at Evolution 2015. Karinchu, on the other hand, started Xrd with Ramlethal, but has now switched to Johnny in -REVELATOR-.

The exhibition will start this Saturday at 6 PM JST (2 AM Pacific, 5 AM Eastern) and will be streamed at Jonio’s Twitch channel twitch.tv/joniosan.
