Win a Street Fighter V Collectors Edition Bundle During Blood Brothers 2 Promotion

It appears Dragon’s Dogma Online isn’t the only non-fighting game to have Street Fighter guests this month. Capcom recently announced that some of their iconic world warriors will also be making appearances in the DeNA strategy game Blood Brothers 2 for iOS and Android.

This promotion will see Street Fighter characters like Ryu and Chun-Li join special events to fight against an invasion by M. Bison’s Shadaloo army. More characters are scheduled to appear in future events.

Participating in these events may even net players real-life rewards, including an iPad Pro, a Street Fighter action figure, or a copy of Street Fighter V’s collectors edition box. All you have to do is sign-up here for a chance to win.

The first Street Fighter x Blood Brothers 2 promotion will take place December 2-9, with a second event set for December 17-23. Interested parties can download the game for free through iTunes and Google Play.

HORI Reveals Upcoming Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa Stick, Fighting Commander 4 Controller

At a recent launch for their new EDGE line of PC controllers, HORI also took the time to show off their latest fighting game controllers.

The first of these is the Fighting Commander 4. The Pro version of this pad is already for sale in both Asia and North America, but this new version removes the adjustable directional pad and extended left hand grip. This, of course, lowers the price; it’s set to retail for ¥4,299 (~$35 USD) when it hits stores in the spring, about half the price of the Fighting Commander 4 Pro.

Arguably more exciting is the upcoming Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa. This new incarnation of the RAP.V series features HORI’s updated Hayabusa buttons.

While the Hayabusa name was previously reserved for HORI’s top of the line arcade lever, these buttons are designed to give quicker response thanks to a lower profile that gives shorter actuation distance than their previous Kuro buttons. The new Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa will cost ¥15,984 (~$130 USD) when it launches this December.

Both of these controllers will feature support for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. The article also mentions that a PS4 version of HORI’s high-end Fighting Edge arcade stick is also in development.

Ronda Rousey Faces Street Fighter II’s World Warriors

Some of you may have wondered what would happen if a real life martial artist ever got the chance to mix it up in the Street Fighter universe. The folks at sports humor site The Kicker pondered this question as well, and decided to take it to the next level. By editing Cammy’s spite, they were able to add UFC’s rowdiest (and possibly geekiest) brawler, Ronda Rousey, to Street Fighter II.

Can the baddest woman on the planet weather the flames of Ken’s Shoryuken? What happens when she throws down with the Red Cyclone? And will Capcom ever make her a guest character? Find out the answers to two of those questions in the video below.

Slay Monsters as Street Fighter’s Iconic World Warriors in Dragon’s Dogma Online

If you’ve ever wanted to Shoryuken a flying dragon or land a Sonic Boom on a rampaging ogre, you just might be in luck. Capcom recently announced a special collaboration between their franchises that will allow Dragon’s Dogma Online players to participate in special events to earn Street Fighter-themed gear for their characters.

The promotion, which runs through November 26, is divided into a number of sub-events. At this time, players are able to hunt down a special piece of head armor based on Chun-Li’s iconic hairstyle, but more will soon be available for those who would prefer to look like Ryu, E. Honda, Guile, or M. Bison instead.

Dragon’s Dogma Online is a free-to-play multiplayer game for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC that’s currently exclusive to Japan. More details can be found by following the link below.

Combofiend Shows How to Succeed with Dhalsim and Zangief in Street Fighter V

As both a former competitive player and the game’s associate producer, Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas is arguably the foremost authority on Street Fighter V at the moment. As such, it’s always a treat whenever he takes the its characters out for a spin.

Rosas recently sat down with the folks at IGN to demonstrate what Dhalsim and Zangief, two of the game’s most recently revealed veterans, can pull off with their revised movesets.

Of the two, Dhalsim is the most changed from his previous installments. The removal of his horizontal fireballs in favor of arced ones has left many Dhalsim mains scratching their heads at how to use him properly. In the video below, Combofiend demonstrates how players can properly utilize new tools, like his floaty V-Skill, to control space and dominate opponents from afar.

While Zangief isn’t as radically altered as Dhalsim, the removal of his green hand has caught many off guard, especially players used to Street Fighter IV. Rosas demonstrates how the Russian wrestler can use his current arsenal of tools to get the opponent in grappling range.

Street Fighter V is set to launch for PlayStation 4 and PC on February 16.

Naptown Clutch V’s King of Fighters XIII Finals Highlight Midwest Talent

While the game’s presence at major tournaments has been diminished as of late, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t an active scene for King of Fighter XIII.  The game still makes appearances at a number of regional events, such as the recently concluded Naptown Clutch V.

Held in Indianapolis, Indiana this past weekend, Naptown Clutch V featured some of the Midwest’s best King of Fighters players, culminating in a battle between hometown hero NB|MexiKen and Chicago’s James Jr.

Brains, Heart, and Body: Laugh’s Theory on the Three Types of Fighting Gamers

Arcade Stream is back with a new video that goes into some interesting theoretical and philosophical ground. Here, they explain a theory put forward by Ryan “Laugh” Ahn on the three types of fighting gamers.

According to Laugh, fighting gamers can be represented by three different attributes: brains, heart, and body.

Brains refers to the scientific player, the type who spends time in the lab trying to find ways to optimize their game. That said, the almost limitless possibilities and situations in fighting games means it’s impossible to find the optimal answers to all these situations, and unfamiliar situations can be very scary for these players.

Heart, on the other hand, represents the emotional or feeling-based player. A player like this prefers mind games, baiting their opponent, relying on making reads, or as many in the community would call it, “yomi”. This kind of player thrives on the other player’s unfamiliarity with certain situations to get the win.

The final archetype, body, refers to players who are known for their physical capabilities, specifically their execution and reactions. This is the most straightforward of the three archetypes and tends to be the one that people unfamiliar with fighting games tend to think is the only attribute required to succeed. These types of players benefit from characters who have difficult links and combos.

For a closer look at these archetypes, be sure to check out the video below, and let us know which you most strongly represent in the comments.
