Takeda Can Keep Opponents Blocking Forever in Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat X has garnered a reputation as a very offense-based fighter, where it’s often better to be on the attack than sitting back and holding block. However, a new discovery for Takeda’s Ronin variation takes that to ridiculous levels.

In the videos below, Yomi Gaming’s REO demonstrates that by repeating a specific set of strings, Takeda can force his opponents to keep blocking forever unless they have a poke that’s faster than 8 frames. This means characters such as Erron Black, Kenshi, Kitana, Jason, Johnny Cage, and even Takeda himself are out of luck against the technique.

While this may have been possible before the most recent patch, its changes likely made the infinite much easier to pull off. As of now, there’s a lot of discussion surrounding what can be done to escape this as well as if the technique should be banned in tournaments, so be sure to visit Test Your Might if you want to provide your opinion.

Infiltration: “I think [Street Fighter V’s] constantly going in the right direction.”

After interviewing Infiltration a few months back about his performance at Evo 2015, Arcade Stream is back with another short discussion as the Korean player prepared to leave for First Attack 2015.

In this new interview, they talk about Infiltration’s reputation as a “gatekeeper” due to his visiting multiple Capcom Pro Tour events despite having already qualified. According to him, “gatekeeping,” or keeping players from qualifying is not his intention at all. Rather, with only four months left until Capcom Cup, he wants to be able to get as much experience fighting at the top level as possible, hence why we see him going out to multiple events.

Of course, they also take some time to touch on Street Fighter V, which Infiltration is looking forward to. “Street Fighter V feels like it’s getting faster. After playing for a bit, I’ve gotten a feel for the tempo,” he said. “By making the game more focused on offense, it’s making the game faster, making the game better in that respect. I think it’s constantly going in the right direction.”

But that’s just a small portion of what Infiltration has to say, so be sure to check out the video below for their full conversation.

Burnout Fighter Explores Changes to Nash, Necalli, Birdie, and Ken’s Movelists in Street Fighter V

Over the past few weeks, Burnout Fighter has released videos in a series dedicated to covering how Street Fighter V’s cast has changed from build to build. Their two latest videos touch on Nash, Necalli, Birdie, and Ken.

The first thing Burnout Fighter discusses is the change made to the inputs of Nash’s Sonic Move V-Trigger.  The latest builds have changed the direction commands required to make Nash teleport into certain positions around his opponent. He also focuses on changes to properties of moves that make certain combos from the older build no longer valid. To seemingly make up for this, Nash has gained a couple of new Crush Counter normals.

In addition to discussing Nash’s changes, Burnout also goes over newcomer Necalli. As many have guessed, holding forward, back, or neutral changes the position of Necalli’s V-Skill. With its long recovery however, he notes that it isn’t a move you would want to use alot, though it can also be used as a combo ender.

Meanwhile, as was previously reported, Necally’s V-Trigger, Torrent of Power, permanently changes him. Currently, this transformation does not seem to have any negative effects, making it something that Necalli players will want to use in every round. Some of his moves however become slightly slower, which make some combos not work.

Of course, these are just a few of the things that Burnout discusses. Check out the two videos below for the rest.

Punish Axl Low for Daring to Use His Sparrowhawk Stance in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-

Anyone who’s played against a good Axl Low in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- knows how difficult the character can be when he’s in his Sparrowhawk stance. While there, he’s able to dish out damage from nearly a fullscreen away, which can be frustrating to deal with.

In his latest series of videos, ShinKensou goes over how most of the cast can actually punish Axl for daring to go into the Sparrowhawk stance. The first video covers punishment options for Chipp, who can go in after Axl uses a specific low attack, while the second tackles the rest of the cast minus Elphelt and Potemkin.

It’s important to note that all the punishes here, while not always optimal, allow players to Yellow Roman Cancel option select the normal, which will keep you safe should Axl delay his own attack.

Apart from an additional helping of characters, one of the biggest changes coming to Killer Instinct in its third season is the fact composer Mick Gordon will no longer be contributing to the game’s character themes. In this new episode of his Recording Cessions, Celldweller talks abit about working on Killer Instinct, specifically with regards to the its first guest character, Rash from Battletoads. Highlights include incorporating 8-bit sounds by way of an Elektron SidStation, which uses a Commodore 64 sound chip to create that great retro feel.

If you’re a Killer Instinct fan, a lover of music, or any combination of the two, this behind the scenes look at the creation of a character theme isn’t to be missed.

R. Mika’s V-Skill Buff Dishes Out Serious Damage in Street Fighter V

Ever since we learned how it works last week, more than a few people have been wondering what exactly happens if you let Rainbow Mika fully charge her V-Skill in Street Fighter V.

Fortunately, Khaos Gaming captured some great footage from their time at PAX Prime that demonstrates why, at least in the current build of the game, you should never, ever let R. Mika run her mouth to the fullest. Check out the video below to see for yourself and possibly even pick up some bodybuilding tips along the way.

Street Fighter V is still in development. As such, certain things, such as what we just saw here, may change before teh final release. That said, I’m pretty sure more than a few competitors are salivating at the chance to deal out that much damage, even if the situation is less than practical.

Get Reacquainted with R. Mika’s Past Before Her Return in Street Fighter V

Diehard Street Fighter fans are likely familiar with Street Fighter V’s most recently announced character, R. Mika, but those who didn’t play previous games might not know much about where she originated.

To help these folks, Capcom UK focuses on the joshi wrestling star in the latest episode of their World Warriors series. In the video below, they go over her backstory from Street Fighter Alpha 3 while demonstrating some arcade mode matches. This culminates in her ending, where the “Turquoise Terror” teams with fellow grappler Zangief to take out M. Bison’s Psycho Drive.

NorCal StrongStyle Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Footage Surfaces Online

NorCal StrongStyle is one of those rare big events that not everyone gets to watch online due to the fact that it’s not streamed. After a bit of a hiatus, the event’s organizers returned with a preference on making the event for the players and the community over putting on a show.

These matches feature some of the best Tekken players from the United States, such as Mr. Naps, Bronson Tran, Lil Majin, Inkognito, Just Frame James, and Starscream, as well as Nobi of Japan and South Korea’s Saint.

We’ve included some of the tournament’s later matches below, but you can find the entire top sixteen here.
