Various PC Capcom fighting games are on sale over at Green Man Gaming

Green Man Gaming is currently having its “Big in Japan” sale — a sale featuring discounts on  PC games from various Japanese publishers. As part of this sale, a number of Capcom’s fighting games are discounted. This includes most of the recent releases in both the Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom franchises on the platform.

Dead or Alive 6 will arrive on February 15, 2019; Ayane, Marie Rose, Honoka, & Bayman returning to the roster

At Sony’s PlayStation LineUp Tour stream in preparation for the 2018 Tokyo Game Show, Team NINJA showed off a new trailer for Dead or Alive 6.

The new trailer revealed some veterans who are returning to the new game: Ayane, Marie Rose, Honoka, and Bayman. Interestingly enough, both Ayane and Marie Rose were shown in story scenes during the trailer, which should finally give the latter the story she lacked in Dead or Alive 5. More importantly however, the trailer revealed the date when Dead or Alive 6 will be available. The latest installment of Team NINJA’s fighting game franchise goes on sale on February 15, 2019.

The trailer included a glimpse of a new dinosaur park stage that seemed to have some pretty detailed danger zones, as well as the previously mentioned peeks at the game’s story mode.

SNK announces Samurai Spirits for PlayStation 4

Since last week, SNK has been counting down to a new game announcement. It seems we now know what that that game is: Samurai Spirits is coming to PlayStation 4! For those who may not be familiar with it, Samurai Spirits is the Japanese name for Samurai Shodown. The new game was announced at Sony’s event, where they revealed their lineup for the 2018 Tokyo Game Show.

Details for the game are scarce, aside from the fact that it’s running on Unreal Engine 4, and is scheduled to arrive sometime next year. However, more should be revealed on the official site soon. It appears to be a remake of the original title, but with a new 3D engine and updated art style.

Thief Arthur, arcade stick support coming to SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy in September 20 patch

As previously reported, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy‘s first DLC character is Thief Arthur from Square Enix’s Million Arthur franchise. The character is a guest that’s part of an exchange that see’s the King of Fighters‘s Iori Yagami appear in Square Enix’s Million Arthur: Arcana Blood.

During the livestream of a recent tournament for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy in Japan, SNK revealed that Thief Arthur would be available on September 20. This guest character comes as part of a big patch for the game that’s coming on the same day.

In addition to adding Thief Arthur, this upcoming patch adds an important feature – arcade stick support. Currently, item use in SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is mapped to the the right analog stick, meaning that arcade stick  users aren’t able to use them. The patch will provide an alternate method of using items for players using said arcade sticks.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is currently available for Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation.

Million Arthur: Arcana Blood is now available for pre-order on the PlayStation store in Japan

Following up on the news that Square-Enix and Examu’s Million Arthur: Arcana Blood was coming to PlayStation 4, digital pre-orders for the game have now gone live over in Japan.

The digital edition of the game can now be pre-ordered on the Japanese PlayStation Store for ¥7,538. Those who pre-order will get early access to the game, in addition to an extra character color and a PlayStation 4 theme. The arcade fighter, based on Square Enix’s Million Arthur mobile game franchise, first hit arcades last November before a home port for PlayStation 4 was announced a couple of weeks back.

Million Arthur: Arcana Blood hits PlayStation 4 in Japan on November 29. When it arrives, it will come with additional characters not in the arcade version, including the King of Fighters‘s Iori Yagami.

Fighting EX Layer is getting a physical release in Japan, to be shown at Konami’s booth at the 2018 Tokyo Game Show

ARIKA’s passion project is getting a disc release in their home country.

One thing that many fans have been asking ARIKA for — in regards to Fighting EX Layer — has been a physical release for the game. Now, the game is actually getting one – at least in Japan, that is.

Due to high demand, ARIKA have announced that they will be releasing a physical disc version of Fighting EX Layer in Japan. The company will be exhibiting this physical disc version of the game at the 2018 Tokyo Game Show, at Konami’s booth. The fact that they’re exhibiting it at Konami’s booth indicates that Konami will be publishing said disc version. Indeed, the company’s own TGS 2018 listing shows Fighting EX Layer as one of their “Partner Titles”. However, the same listing shows that they won’t be showing Fighting EX Layer on their stage.

The 2018 Tokyo Game Show is will take place on September 20 to 23 at the Makuhari Messe, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

Arc System Works to reveal two more characters for Kill la Kill: The Game at Tokyo Game Show

Ever since it was first announced a few months back, we’ve only seen two characters confirmed for Kill la Kill: The Game. Now, it seems that two more characters will be joining the iconic duo of Ryuko Matoi and Satsuki Kiryuin.

Arc System Works recently revealed their lineup for the upcoming 2018 Tokyo Game Show. While their lineup is pretty small, with only three other games aside from Kill la Kill: The Game (none of which are BlazBlue or Guilty Gear). However, they are teasing that they will reveal two more characters for said game.

More importantly however, it seems that the two new characters will be playable at the show alongside Ryuko Matoi and Satsuki Kiryuin. This means that those at the show will get to try them out, and that we’ll likely get some gameplay footage of them as well.

The 2018 Tokyo Game Show takes place from September 20 to 23 at the Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Kill la Kill: The Game is set to launch on PlayStation 4 sometime in 2019. For more on it, be sure to check out our previous coverage of the game.

Check out what’s in store for Tekken 7 Season 2 with this new trailer

Tekken 7 Season 2 has just arrived on home systems. Aside from a number of balance changes, the new season also sees a new batch of content — including new characters — coming to the game.

For those who aren’t caught up with what exactly is coming to Tekken 7 this season, Bandai Namco has released a new trailer highlighting all those things. The trailer below shows off  the two new currently-available DLC characters (Anna Williams, and Lei Wulong — guest character Negan hasn’t arrived yet), but it also goes over the new features added to the game.

These new features include a wall bounce mechanic, easy combos for beginners, an improved online progression system, and more.

History Behind the Warrior delves into the life and undeath of the dread pirate Cervantes

One of the characters inadvertently revealed for SoulCalibur VI at Melbourne Esports Open was none other than Cervantes de Leon. The dread pirate was (and still is) a fan favorite, and his accidental reveal had many longtime fans rejoicing.

While he’s a familiar face to SoulCalibur veterans, some of those who may not have followed the series may wonder just Cervantes is such an important character. That and more that is covered in this latest episode of History Behind the Warrior.

The video below covers Cervantes history within the series, starting as the main antagonist of the original Soul Edge (Soul Blade in the USA), and talks about why he remains a continuing threat — something few other bosses in the series (aside from Nightmare) have been able to do.

Qanba responds to heightened security at SCR 2018: Sticks opened as part of the mandatory security check won’t get their warranties voided

After the shooting at the GLHF Game Bar, a number of organizers have responded by increasing the security plans at their events. One such event is SoCal Regionals 2018, where players must now have their arcade sticks opened for inspection. Inconvenience aside, this has some players worried about the warranties on their arcade sticks being voided by such an inspection.

In response to the this, arcade stick producer Qanba has released a statement on Twitter that any of their sticks opened for inspection at SoCal Regionals 2018 will not have their warranties voided. All players who have their Qanba arcade sticks opened as part of the mandatory inspection will have their name and contact information logged. This will allow Qanba to keep track of them and make sure that their warranties are honored.

This solution was agreed upon by Qanba and SCR 2018 organizers Level|Up Series to make sure that the security of the attendees at the event is prioritized. This way, players can have their Qanba arcade sticks inspected without without forcing them to void their warranties.

SoCal Regionals 2018 will take place from September 14 to 16 at the Ontario Convention Center, Ontario, CA.
