While she saw some use in the game’s early life, Kitana hasn’t had much of a presence in tournaments for Mortal Kombat X as of late. Her lack of any sort of safe mixup or setplay potential has turned more than a few players off, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still folks dedicated to figuring out stuff for the Edenian princess.

One of these people is Hey Ge0rge, who demonstrates several high damage combos for Kitana’s Royal Storm and Assassin variations in a brand new video. Aside from being quite meter efficient, a good number of them are also unbreakable, using Kitana’s fans to keep her opponent in the air and unable to use a breaker to get out.

Learning combos is an important part of becoming competitive in many fighters, the same can definitely be said for Mortal Kombat X. The title’s rushdown-heavy gameplay and low single poke damage means players will have to be able to maximize their conversions off any hit.

To help those learning to do this, Marvelous Customs’ Honzo Gonzo recently started a series of combo guides, the first of which feature returning fighters Jax Briggs and Shinnok as well as newcomers Ferra and Torr. As you’ve probably guessed, these videos demonstrate a number of combos that folks should have in their back pocket, spread across every variation.

The Mortal Kombat X Asia Pacific Championship had its Philippine qualifier last Saturday at the Imperium e-Sports Bar and Gaming Lounge. The event saw both veteran Mortal Kombat players as well as some new blood come out to compete, hoping to earn a trip to the finals at South East Asia Major 2015.

While many top competitors, such as Raul “Retic” De Leon, Andrew “INSANE” Bagay, and Miguel “Migosan” Macayan, were fighting for the prize up until the end, the eventual winner of the qualifier would be a total newcomer.

In his first major Mortal Kombat tournament ever, Tim Cruz earned a hard fought upset victory, first sending tournament favorite Migosan to the losers bracket before taking him down again with an smart series of counter-picks in grand finals to earn a trip to Thailand in June.

Razer’s Xian and Nemo of The Black Eye are two of the community’s most exciting Ultra Street Fighter IV players. While the former is known for bringing an arguably mid-tier character like Gen to the world’s largest stages and succeeding, the latter has been throwing weight around with the always exhilarating Rolento.

Cyborg ninja Yoshimitsu recently joined the cast of Tekken 7 as its latest time release character.  As with the other post-launch fighters, the GuntamaMiraclein YouTube channel is one of the first to share footage of him in action.

The video below shows an extended training mode session that runs through some of Yoshimitsu’s moves and a few early combos. Be sure to check out the footage below and share your thoughts on the Manji clan leader’s Tekken 7 incarnation in the comments.

Expanding on the lineup of fighters currently available worldwide, Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel launched in Japanese arcades on April 30. This title, which was developed by EXAMU Inc. of Arcana Heart fame, features characters from various Nitroplus visual novels.

If you’re unable to try the game yourself, never fear; Game Center Technopolis held a tournament last Tuesday, May 5, and have already provided replays of the proceedings. While early in the game’s life, the footage below should still provide a good look at how its shaping up in the competitive scene.

The Philippines has always had a unique reputation when it comes to fighting games in South East Asia, thanks to their proclivity for playing titles that have traditionally been more popular in the United States.

It should come as no surprise, then, that this weekend’s first leg of the Mortal Kombat X Asia Pacific Championship will be taking place there. Hosted by Imperium e-Sports Bar and Gaming Lounge in cooperation with Beast of the East, Ingram Micro, and Xmashed Gear, the tournament will feature top Mortal Kombat players from the country as they duke it out for a chance to compete at South East Asia Majors in Thailand and possibly even Evolution 2015.

In the transition to Mortal Kombat X, more than a few classic characters from previous games did not make the cut. To make up for this, some variations, such as Mournful Kitana, reference some of these past cast members.

That said, some players on PC have taken matters into their own hands. In the video below, Rafael Lorenzo demonstrates a mod that turns Kitana into Jade by re-skinning her Klassic costume. Combined with her aforementioned Mournful variant, he ended up with a rather convincing interpretation of Jade in Mortal Kombat X.

It’s been barely a month since the release of Mortal Kombat X, and as such the community has been quite busy figuring out how to play their favorite characters.

In our latest roundup, we feature some more combos for newcomer Jason Voorhees of Friday the 13th fame. First up, we have a combo compilation from Heey Ge0rge using Jason’s Slasher variation. The video features all sorts of basic combos and should help players understand what the horror icon can do in terms of damage.

Next up, Tony-T shared meterless combo for Unstoppable Jason that does 46% damage from mid-screen.

Speaking of Tony-T, he’s also put out a couple more videos for Thunder God Raiden. The first one demonstrates a 48% damage combo that uses no meter.

And his second demonstrates a couple of high damage combos for the same variation that incorporate meter. The first uses one bar and does 59%, while the second uses all three and pushes the god to 65% damage.

Finally, we have a Reptile combo by cjbqulix. This video showcases a mix of practical and stylish combos for all of the ninja’s variations with some extra focus on his Nimble fighting style.
