Ever since it was first announced, players have been patiently anticipating the next arcade revision to Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-. Fortunately, it looks like they won’t have to wait much longer, as Arc System Works recently announced the patch will be applied on March 19.
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-‘s ver.1.10 update brings with it the three previously console exclusive characters–Sin Kiske, Elphelt Valentine, and Leo Whitefang–as well as a plethora of system and balance changes.
Our previous report covered a handful of adjustments that were present during location tests, but details on what will be included in this final release have yet to be divulged. Similarly, there is still no word on when this update will arrive on consoles.
Jason Voorhees, star of the classic Friday the 13th horror movie franchise, will be playable in Mortal Kombat X as a guest character.
NetherRealm Studios has revealed that the machete-wielding killer will be one of four downloadable characters included in the game’s Kombat Pack, which will include another guest fighter and two classic cast members from the Mortal Kombat franchise.
This bundle will also include the Samurai Pack, consisting of three new character skins–Ronin Kenshi, Samurai Shinnok and Jingu Kitana–as well as costume packages with each additional playable character. Those who buy the Kombat Pack will also gain early access to future content.
All of this is included with the various special editions of Mortal Kombat X or as a separate purchase for $29.99.
Mortal Kombat X launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on April 14. In the meantime, check out the quick teaser for Jason below.
Bandai Namco’s official Tekken Channel recently held a special “Just Before Launch” broadcast for Tekken 7. In it, series producer Katsuhiro Harada talked about some new features of the game, his inspiration for the game’s stages, and new character Lucky Chloe.
For those who missed it, check out the official replay below.
At around 3 minutes into the video, there’s a demonstration of the game’s new Super Slow Motion camera. This feature is triggered when both players are at low health and pull off moves at the same time. According to Harada, this feature is supposed to give the game a more cinematic feel during these tense moments where players aren’t sure who’s attack will hit. Even if both attacks miss, it can be triggered again in the same way.
As for Lucky Chloe, Harada says his instructions to the team were to create a character type that hadn’t been seen in Tekken. Interestingly enough, he was initially apprehensive and wasn’t sure whether a character like Lucky Chloe would be okay until one of the designers pointed out that this was the type of character that he asked for.
After this, Harada is asked about where he gets his inspiration for the game’s stage. Most of them, he explains, come via fan requests from all over the world, and that he tends to look them up and do all kinds of research before turning them into stages.
Finally, at around the 11 minute mark, the video shows some gameplay and combos for various characters, including a set of mirror matches featuring Lucky Chloe.
Tekken 7 is currently under limited release in select Japanese arcades with a full release scheduled for March 18. It will be making its North American debut at Final Round 18, which is taking place March 20-22 at Atlanta, Georgia.
Earlier tonight, Arc System Works released details for their next Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- console patch. While not the massive update that adjusted gameplay in arcades, ver.1.04 fixes a variety of bugs present in the console version and adds a few improvements to the game’s cross-play and online modes.
According to the news, balance changes will arrive on consoles later this year along with support for Arc System Work’s tournament app. The developers have also worked out a way to correct issues the PlayStation 4 version has with searching for ranked matches, but are unsure if it will be ready in time.
You’ll find a full breakdown of the patch’s details below, courtesy of Dustloop’s Sourenga. Fans should expect this to arrive sometime in March.

Some time ago, we reported that Sakura would be the next Street Fighter character to join Kotobukiya’s Bishouho figure line. Now, we finally have a chance to see how the eternal schoolgirl will look in sculpted form thanks to some images from Famitsu.
As with all Bishoujo figures, this one features a sculpt based on the artwork of artist Shunya Yamashita. First shown at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the artwork highlights Sakura in a dynamic, mid-jump pose as she cheers for victory.
Those interested in the figure will have to wait until August of this year when it goes on sale for ¥7,200 (~$59 USD). In the meantime, check out the images in the gallery below and let us know what you think.
Back when the game first launched on consoles in 2009, Capcom partnered with Mad Catz to release official controllers for Street Fighter IV. This turned out to be a fruitful relationship, allowing the peripheral developer the opportunity to focus on high-end, professional arcade sticks and eventually sponsor a good number of top players from all over the world.
With this in mind, it should come as no surprise that the two companies will be collaborating on Street Fighter V. It was recently announced that Mad Catz will be creating a new range of controllers, including updated FightPads for players that prefer them alongside the usual standard and Tournament Edition arcade sticks.
And that’s not all. As part of the partnership, Mad Catz has also become a premier sponsor for the Capcom Pro Tour, making them the exclusive controller provider for the next three years.
With this, it seems that Mad Catz’ relationship with the fighting game community will continue for years to come.
In his latest blog post, Evolution 2013 champion Ho Kun Xian discusses his current slate of tournament appearances, which includes Red Bull Kumite, SXSW Gaming’s Fighters Invitational, Hypespotting 4, and Final Round 18. Apart from those, however, the Team Razer competitor teases his participation in an as of yet unannounced invitational.
The only details about this mystery event that we can glean from Xian’s post are that it features a “very strong” lineup and will take place some time after Hypespotting in April. Unfortunately, aside from these small tidbits, there isn’t much to speculate about.
With the incredible amount of invitationals cropping up over the past few months, it’s exciting to hear that there may be one more to add to the docket. What do you think this mysterious tournament has in store?

A few days ago, we reported that Interplay had plans to release a remastered version of ClayFighter for PC. Now the company has released a brand new teaser for the game.
The trailer itself, which you can see below, doesn’t really show anything about the game yet. Rather, it pokes a bit of self-aware fun at the series and its perceived mediocrity, and includes some quotes from various sites and publications highlighting this fact.
Do you find Ryu too plain? Then spice up your decor with this brand new Evil Ryu diorama courtesy of Kinetiquettes.
This collectible company was founded by a group of enthusiasts, passionate about figurines and collectibles alike. With over forty years of combined experience in the video games and animation industry, they aim to introduce highly artistic and dynamic collectible statues unlike anything offered in the market before.
The 1:6 scale diorama, which you can see in the gallery below, depicts Evil Ryu performing his Metsu Hadouken, creating enough force that the rooftop that serves as the figures base is slowly being ripped apart. Interestingly enough, this figure is actually the first of a two-part set, designed to connect to Kinetiquettes’ upcoming Oni diorama.
Kinetiquettes’ Evil Ryu diorama is priced at $350; interested folks can head on over to their online store to order.
Last year, Street Fighter fans finally got the chance to enjoy a great live action adaptation of the franchise with Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist. First debuting as a web-series on Machinima, the series was later compiled as a two-hour movie on DVD and Blu-ray and is now available for Netflix subscribers in the United Kingdom.
Fans can now relive the stories of two generations of Ansatsuken martial artists–series’ protagonists Ryu and Ken, as well as that of their master Gouken and his brother Gouki, also known as Akuma–over on the streaming service.
Additionally, the series also lays the groundwork for further Street Fighter live-action adaptations, including the upcoming sequel to Assassin’s Fist, Street Fighter: World Warrior.
