Get up to speed with Dissidia Final Fantasy NT with this new overview trailer

Square Enix and Team NINJA’s Final Fantasy arena fighter Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is hitting PlayStation 4 early next year. While we’ve already seen a lot of the game, thanks to the arcade release and online beta, some players may still not be up to speed on exactly how it plays.

For players who fall into this category, Square Enix has released a new trailer that introduces the basics of the game. The trailer below goes over character classes, summons, unique abilities, and of course, the unique Bravery combat system.

In addition to this, Square-Enix has also released a handy flow to help players find a character that fits their playstyle. You can check this out below:

Dante shows some Bold Moves in this new Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite combo video

Back in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Dante’s “Bold Move” was an important part of his moveset due to it being the means for him to special cancel out of his “Stinger” command normal. In Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite however, the move is less prominent due to him being able to do specials out of “Stinger” and its follow-ups.

That said, that doesn’t mean that Bold Move isn’t useful anymore. In his latest Dante combo video, Andrew Silver demonstrates a number of combos for the character in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite that utilize Bold Move. In addition to this, he also gets some good mileage out of his “Devil Trigger” install hyper. Of course, most of these aren’t really practical, especially not with how the game’s damage-based hitstun decay works, but it’s still nice to see some flashy combos beyond what we usually see in tournament play.

SNK expanding their esports initiative to cover all fighting games developed by the company

For some time now, SNK has had an esports support program focused on helping the competitive scene around The King of Fighters XIV. This past week however, the company made some changes to the scope of the program on their official website.

Beyond just support for The King of Fighters XIV, the official site now states that the esports support program covers “all fighting games created by SNK.”

This change is interesting in more ways than one. The most obvious being that the competitions and tournaments for older titles (including classic titles with strong competitive scenes such as KOF ’98 and KOF 2K2), can get support from the company.

The other interesting bit, however, is the fact that this opens the door for support for future fighting games from SNK. Both producer Yasuyuki Oda and designer Hayato Watanabe have already confirmed that SNK is working on more fighting games. With this, we know that competitions for these will be supported when they do see the light of day.

Survive mix-ups with this pushblock auto guard guide for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

To help players deal with the amazingly oppressive pressure and mix-ups that it allows, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite borrows a page from Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Skullgirls, with a mechanic known as “auto guard.” During certain situations, a defending character can end up blocking both overhead and low attacks at the same time.

There are two kinds of auto guard in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. The first is a form of unblockable protection, which automatically guards against an overhead and a low hitting on the same frame. The second is pushblock auto guard, which allows players to end up blocking against both overhead and low attacks, by switching from standing or crouching as soon as they pushblock.

It’s the second form of autoguard that a new tutorial from Rrambam goes over in detail. In the video below, they explain in depth how to properly time switching from standing or crouching after a pushblock to properly get the auto guard attribute and defend against mix-ups.

Quackbot and KillerKai speak out on the former’s Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite double-entry at Canada Cup 2017

In any tournament, no matter what sport or game is being played, it’s understood that a competitor can only enter themselves into the tournament once. However, at the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite tournament at this year’s Canada Cup, a player ended up playing twice — in two different pools.

During the tournament, Quackbot — or PCMarvelGod, as he is more commonly known — was able to play in both Pool 1 under his own name, and in Pool 2 under the gamer name Holy Order-Troll. While tournament officials eventually caught on to this, by that time Quackbot had already beaten more than a few other competitors.

As a result of the above, the decision was made to replay the bracket. However, this then affected the fortunes of another player who had already made it out of Pool 8. Eliver “Killer Kai” Ling had won all his matches in the pool, sending Quackbot down to the losers bracket along the way. However, due to the decision to replay the bracket, KillerKai was forced to replay his pool winners final match against Joe P. The second time around, Joe P ended up winning against KillerKai, who then qualified out of the pool on the losers side of the bracket.

Now, both Quackbot and Killer Kai have given out statements on this. According to Quackbot, the reason that he was in two brackets was because the real Holy Order-Troll (a player from Arizona) wouldn’t be able to play due to controller issues. As such, she decided to offer her spot to Quackbot, since she supposedly didn’t want her slot to “go to waste.” As part of this, he also states the he will take full responsibility for the incident and will even accept a ban if necessary.

Meanwhile, KillerKai, whose chances at a higher placing at the tournament were derailed by the incident, has also made his own statement on the matter.

KillerKai states that while he understands the tough situation that the people from Canada Cup and Capcom were put in due to this, he cannot help but express disappointment at how they handled it, and at their lack of foresight. He goes on to state that he feels that they were more worried about accusations of preferential treatment towards KillerKai than doing the right thing. While he states the he still has “mad love” for (Canada Cup head organizer) Lap Chi Duong, he also states that, as a result of this, he will no longer be returning to any future Canada Cup events.

We’ve reached out to Lap Chi Duong for his own comments on the issue. However, he stated that he wouldn’t be able to give a proper statement on the issue immediately, but would be doing so at a later time. Stay locked on to Shoryuken for more on this story as it develops.

Rock on with iconic Guilty Gear songs in DJMAX Respect

One of the most iconic things to come out of Arc System Works’ Guilty Gear franchise is its music by series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari. With how memorable and iconic the music is, it should come as no surprise then that it’s crossing over beyond the games into other franchises, in this case, rhythm game DJMAX Respect.

First announced in August of 2017, songs from various Guilty Gear titles are making their way into DJMAX Respect. For those wondering how these songs will appear in the game, Arc System Works has released a sample videos showcasing a couple of songs being played in the game.

The specific songs being played in the video below are “Break a Spell”, the opening theme for Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2; the Guilty Gear 2 Overture version of Ky’s theme “Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead)&#8221$$ and “Marionette”, Elphelt’s theme from Guilty Gear Xrd.

For those interested in picking this up, DJMAX Respect is already available (with English text) for PlayStation 4 in Asia, and will hit Japan on November 9.

In particular, Raynexpress has been focusing on the team of Black Panther and Doctor Strange, doing his best to develop combos and set play for the team, as you can see in the videos below:

He’s also shared videos just for Black Panther alone, including this 50/50 setup concept using his “Sudden Death” Hyper.

He’s also experimented with another team, this time showing a mix-up concept for Black Panther and Iron Man.

Enjoy a healthy helping of anime tag team action with this BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle footage from Toushinsai

Arc System Works brought a playable build of BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle to Toushinsai 2017; it was their latest public build, and featured newly-announced characters from BlazBlue, Hazama and Rachel Alucard. Sadly, Weiss from RWBY wasn’t playable, since she wasn’t ready for a public demo yet. For those who missed out on seeing the game at Toushinsai, some of the Japanese gaming media were able to capture some footage of the game in action at the event.

Both Dengeki Online and Famitsu shared some off screen footage of the game. The footage below shows both Hazama and Rachel as well as the previously-announced characters in action. Take note that the damage for these demo builds has supposedly been made higher, so that the lines of people trying them out go through more quickly!
