Atlas Gundam is coming to Gundam Versus in Japan next month

Bandai Namco has been steadily updating Gundam Versus with additional mobile suits as time goes by. So, it should be no surprise that another DLC mobile suit is coming to the game later next month!

The RX-78AL Atlas Gundam is the latest DLC mobile suit to come to Gundam Versus; originally from the Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt side story (set in the main Universal Century setting) and piloted by Io Fleming, the Atlas Gundam features a prototype railgun as well as the ability to transform into “Submarine Mode.”

Like other DLC mobile suits, the Atlas Gundam will cost ¥400 (¥602 with tax) when it hits the game in Japan in late November. In the meantime, you can check some screenshots of it in the gallery below.

No news yet on the availability of this suit in other regions, but we can expect to see it in the West soon after.

Dragon Ball FighterZ’s CollectorZ Edition does not come with the FighterZ Pass

As previously reportedDragon Ball FighterZ will be getting a FighterZ Pass that will gave players access to 8 DLC characters. The FighterZ Pass will also be bundled alongside the “FighterZ Edition” and “Ultimate Edition” of the game. However, one question that this has raised has been about the game’s “CollectorZ Edition.”

In a recent tweet, Bandai Namco has confirmed that the Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s CollectorZ Edition will surprisingly not include the FighterZ Pass.

No reason as to why this is the case was given. However, regarding those who’ve already pre-ordered the CollectorZ Edition, Bandai Namco clarified that the FighterZ Pass had never been listed as part of it.

The CollectorZ Edition itself already comes with a number of goodies. Alongside a steelbook for the game, it also comes with 3 art boards, a 7” statue of Goku with exclusive “Manga Dimension” coloring, and a “CollectorZ box” to house all of these. For those still interested in it (despite the lack of a season pass), Dragon Ball FighterZ’s CollectorZ Edition is still available to pre-order for $139.99.

Fear Nappa and his Saibamen in the new gameplay trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ

Last week, we learned that Nappa and Captain Ginyu would be joining Dragon Ball FighterZ as playable characters. Their selection was surprising, seeing as they’re villains from earlier in the series who many thought would be overlooked in favor of more recent, popular characters. Now we get to see at least one of them in action, as Bandai Namco has released a gameplay trailer for Nappa.

As previously revealed, Nappa fights with the help of the Saibamen: plant-based aliens who he can summon in battle. In the series, these are infamous for taking out some of the supporting characters, including Yamcha (leading to his famous death pose). It seems the haven’t lost their effectiveness in transition to the game — giving Nappa options he wouldn’t have fighting solo.

Dragon Ball FighterZ hits PlayStation 4, XBox One, and PC on January 26, 2018.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite places 6th in NPD’s latest sales chart

Much has been said about Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite‘s sales potential — or the supposed lack of it. Early data from the UK indicated that the game wasn’t selling well in that region. However, the big question has always been that of sales in the United States, a country that’s been considered the bastion of the series.

Market research firm the NPD Group has released its video game sales data for the month of September, and it shows some good signs for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Capcom’s latest installment in the Marvel Vs. series came in at 6th place on the list. The games that outsold it are expected big hitters such as Destiny 2 and the Nintendo Switch’s top-selling title Mario & Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, as well as sports titles such as Madden NLF 18FIFA 18, and NBA 2k18.

On the other hand, Pokken Tournament DX, which beat out Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite in the UK, comes in only at 13th. Take note, however: the data for Switch games does not cover digital sales.

Meanwhile, breaking things down on a per-console basis, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite placed 5th overall on PlayStation 4, outselling the much-anticipated Uncharted: Lost Legacy. On Xbox One, however, the game was slightly lower — at 8th.

Of course, while this is some good news for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, it’s still far from what has been achieved by Injustice 2 and For Honor, which are presently the top-selling fighting games for 2017.

Touhou Sky Arena is coming to Nintendo Switch

For fans looking to play Area-ZERO’s Touhou-based arena fighter Touhou Sky Arena: Gensoukyou Kuusen Hime Matsuri Climax on the go, the only option so far has been on PlayStation Vita. However, that’s about the change as Area-ZERO has announced that they are porting the game to Nintendo Switch.

Dragon Ball FighterZ: Bandai Namco reveals FighterZ Pass, Ultimate Edition, pre-order bonuses, & release date

It’s pretty common now for most big games to sell DLC content — such as characters — via season passes. It seems that Dragon Ball FighterZ will follow in this trendn as Bandai Namco has released details for the game’s “FighterZ Pass,” alongside the game’s pre-order bonuses and release date.

The FighterZ Pass, which goes for $34.99, will give players access to 8 new DLC characters. While we’ve heard some talk about DLC characters in the past, including some leaks and rumors, this is the first time we’ve had confirmation on how many DLC characters the game may be getting. Each of these characters will come with their respective stamp, lobby avatars, and alternate colors. Meanwhile, players who pre-order the game will gain early access to the open beta, as well as early unlocks for Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta. This is in addition to 2 exclusive lobby avatars, and 3 stamps.

On top of all this, we now have a Western release date for the game. Bandai Namco has confirmed that the game will be arriving on January 26, 2017. Bandai Namco has also revealed some details on the online modes: you’ll be able to fight in “Circle Match” mode — where up to 8 players can enter into the room to fight against each other, with up to 4 fights happening simultaneously — and “World Match” mode, allowing players to choose between casual and ranked matches.

Finally, they’ve also detailed a special bundle called the Dragon Ball FighterZ Ultimate Edition. Players who pre-order this will not only get the FighterZ Pass and the pre-order bonuses, but they’ll also gain access to an Anime Music Pack — featuring 11 songs from the show — as well as a commentator voice pack.

A listing for the Dragon Ball FighterZ Ultimate Edition  is currently up on Microsoft’s store. As for the PlayStation 4 and PC, listings for the Ultimate Edition have yet to surface on either PSN or Steam.

Square Enix’s new fighter “Million Arthur: Arcana Blood” arrives in Japanese arcades on November 21

Announced last January, Million Arthur: Arcana Blood is Square Enix’s other arcade fighter — a more traditional 2D one, at that. The company has been working quietly on the game for most of the year, and now we finally know when it’ll hit Japanese arcades.

Million Arthur: Arcana Blood hits Japanese arcades — via Taito’s NESiCAxLive 2 service — on November 21, 2017. In addition to this, players looking to try the game before launch will get to do so at the game’s final location test on November 18.

For those not familiar with it, Kaku-San-Sei Million Arthur is a mobile game franchise from Square Enix. It tells the the story of an exchange student who gets transported back into time and ends up pulling Excalibur from the stone, as per the Arthurian legends.

As for Million Arthur: Arcana Blood, the game is a one-on-one fighter with assists, called “Support Knights,” similar to games such as Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax.

Harada on why Tekken 7 doesn’t have a tutorial mode

With fighting games being a pretty difficult genre to get into, many titles give players tutorial modes that teach them how to play the game. That said, for every Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution or Skullgirls, we still have a number of more mainstream titles that don’t have these.

One of the biggest games that doesn’t have a dedicated tutorial mode is Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7. In a recent interview with PCGamesN, series producer Katsuhiro Harada addressed this issue, giving an answer to why they didn’t include one in their game.

According to Harada, based on the data they can harvest on what modes people play, players don’t actually spend much time in training mode. He compares it to the user manuals for most games and other products that people tend not to read when first opening a product.

That said, they haven’t given up on trying to teach the player, rather that job has now been assigned to the game’s story mode.  He states that you can naturally learn certain things in story mode, such as whether a move can be sidestepped, or how a certain move can be used. He also states that the simplified commands in story mode can serve as a way to entice players to try to learn the actual commands for said moves in practice mode, for use in actual matches.

This approach to teaching players is interesting to say for sure. That said, not everyone may agree and some people may feel that certain concepts are best taught to the player directly. You can read the rest of the interview here.
