Get in on your opponent with this ambiguous cross-up option select for Catwoman in Injustice 2

After the latest round of balance patches, many people may be thinking that Catwoman has been left in the dust in Injustice 2. However, this wily cat still has some claws.

In this new video from UltraChen, James Chen details a new option select for Catwoman that involves her two strings that start off with the light attack, or “1” button: forward 1, 1, 2, 3 and back 1, 2, down 3 (2 is medium attack, 3 is heavy). The option select works off an ambiguous cross-up that results in one of the two strings coming out, depending on where the player lands — with one of the strings having an attack that must be blocked low, adding a second layer to the mix-up if the defending player guesses the cross-up correctly.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite: Spider-Man, Hiryu, Nemesis, Gamora, Dr. Strange, Ultron, X, & Captain Marvel SDCC footage

Last week, we shared a number of direct capture videos of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite that Maximilian recorded at the San Diego Comic-Con. Alongside these, Max also mentioned that he still had some extra footage from the event. Now, he’s compiled this extra footage into yet another long video!

The video below combines a number of combo demonstrations by the Capcom reps (including jumping fierce punch air-dash loops for Captain Marvel and Ultron) at the show, alongside more full matches. The matches in question see Max taking Strider Hiryu with X or Nemesis against teams of Captain Marvel and Spider-Man, Strider Hiryu and Gamora, and even Strider Hiryu and Doctor Strange. Along the way, they show off some interesting combos and possible synergy for the teams in questions.

Here’s our first look at S.H. Figuarts Street Fighter V Cammy and Rashid figures

As previously reported, S.H. Figuarts is releasing a line of collectible Street Fighter V action figures. The first of these — Ryu and Chun-Li — are already available. Now, these will be joined by two more character: Cammy and Rashid.

We’ve known that both Cammy and Rashid would be next in line to get the action figure treatment from S.H. Figuarts for some time now; however, now we actually have our first look at their respective figures. As is the case for S.H. Figuarts products, the figures feature an extreme amount of poseability. This allows the figures to be positioned in similar stances to what the characters can do in-game. The trade-off for this is that they do have a lot of joints that can look a bit awkward — especially on parts representing bare skin.

You can check out Cammy and Rashid’s action figures out in these images, courtesy of Toyark, in the gallery below.

Pre-orders for 8Bitdo’s NES30 arcade stick for Nintendo Switch are now open on Amazon

For fighting game fans playing Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers or the various NEO GEO ports on the Nintendo Switch, there really isn’t much in terms of options for arcade sticks. Those looking for a proper arcade experience have only the HORI Nintendo Switch Real Arcade Pro V as an option. Retro controller manafacturer 8Bitdo aims to change that, with their own arcade stick for Nintendo’s portable/console hybrid.

Available for pre-order now over at Amazon for only $79.99, the 8Bitdo NES30 provides a less-costly alternative to HORI’s Switch RAP V. Aside from the Nintendo Switch, the stick will also work with iOS and Android, via both Bluetooth wireless and wired USB-C. No details on the arcade parts used have been yet released by 8Bitdo — that said, the lower price of entry likely means that it won’t be using genuine arcade parts, unlike the HORI.

The 8Bitdo NES30 arcade stick will be released on August 30, 2017. Interested parties can head on over to Amazon to pre-order.

Punk, Smug, Danslip, and Idom duke it out in these Street Fighter V finals matches from Defend the North 2017

This past past weekend saw some of the hottest Street Fighter V action around with Defend the North 2017. With the event taking place in New York City, many of the top players from the northeast and East Coast converged on the Big Apple to to compete for the championship.

At the end of the day, it was big names that were left standing with Panda Global’s Evo 2017 Street Fighter V runner-up Victor “Punk” Woodley, alongside RISE Nation’s Bryant “Smug” Huggins. The real star of the show however was New York’s rising star Derek “Idom” Ruffin.

While not as well-known as the other two, Idom has already made a name for himself among the New York and East Coast players with some impressive wins at the weekly Next Level Battle Circuit tournaments. This all comes to head as he takes on Punk, forcing him into the losers bracket where he has to face Danny “Danslip” Ortiz, who himself had just taken out Smug in the losers semi-finals.

For those who missed the action, Team Spooky has uploaded the finals matches from Defend the North onto their channel. Did Punk get his rematch against Idom? Did the rising Laura star finally get his big win? Find out in the matches below.

AutoMattock revisits 3rd Strike and Street Fighter’s original Mad Gear giant, Hugo

Street Fighter V‘s Abigail is a giant bruiser who originally comes from Final Fight‘s Mad Gear gang. However, before Abigail, another humongous grappler came in to mount a giant attack on the streets: Hugo.

With rumors of the game coming to modern hardware via an anniversary collection, David-Paul “AutoMattock” Mattock takes a look back at Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and Hugo. The video below covers one of the more difficult match-up that Hugo (or most other characters in 3S) can face: the ever dominant Chun-Li.

Specifically, AutoMattock goes over Hugo’s options when he finally gets a knockdown with Chun-Li off his Meat Squasher special. While actually landing the special (and just beating Chun-Li in the neutral) is fairly difficult, the video demonstrates that Hugo can start applying pressure and damage once he actually lands it and gets her knocked down in the corner.

Get taken for a ride with this Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite tournament footage from Bracket Reset

This weekend over at the Bracket Reset tournament in London, Capcom UK had a treat for UK fans as they brought over the latest (SDCC) build of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Not only did the players get a chance to play the game, but a small tournament was also held for it.

For those who missed the event, TeaMandem now has footage from Bracket Reset’s MvC:I pre-release tournament on their YouTube channel. The footage features some notable players from the UK and Europe trying out the game, these include Packz, BK4REVENGE, FrostyBolty, UM Tyrant, EspadaJerome, and more.

While the quality of the matches varies, since most of the players haven’t really had much time with the game, we do see some interesting things — not the least of which is UM Tyrant pulling off a mid-screen lightning loop with Zero.
