Dhalsim Announced for Street Fighter V

In case you missed the leaked report earlier this morning, Dhalsim is set to bring his unique brand of stretchy combat to Street Fighter V when the title launches next year.

The veteran world warrior was officially announced during PlayStation’s press conference at Paris Games Week with a brand new trailer.

Apart from the trailer and screenshots above, Capcom’s Neidel “Haunts” Crisan was kind enough to provide some details regarding Dhalsim’s gameplay in this upcoming title. In a game as a grappler-heavy as Street Fighter V, Dhalsim certainly stands out, and Crisan refers to him as the the first true zoner.

Dhalsim’s V-Skill, Yoga Float, allows him to do just that. Upon activation, he will float for a few seconds, during which all airborne normals and specials will be available. Yoga Float can be used both from the ground and when Dhalsim is already in the air.

Dhalsim gains access to a flame carpet-esque move with his V-Trigger, Yoga Burner. Enemies caught in the fire will be damaged in the form of recoverable health, which will begin to regenerate once they leave the affected area.

And finally, executive producer Yoshinori Ono provided a sneak peek of the six characters who will be making their way to Street Fighter V after the title’s launch. While it’s entirely possible the first is Alex, the rest are a little tougher to make out. Any ideas?

Street Fighter V to Launch on February 16, Dhalsim Returns

While we all hold our breath for Ono’s next Street Fighter V reveal, news has leaked from Paris Games Week concerning when the community will finally be able to get their hands on the game.

According to Eurogamer Portugal, Capcom is prepared to launch Street Fighter V on February 16. This falls a little short of their proposed spring release window, but sooner is certainly better than later!

But that’s not all. The article also confirms Dhalsim will return to the playable cast, and Capcom is apparently readying six additional characters for post-launch release, raising the base cast of 16 to 22 throughout 2016.

The article in question was quickly taken down, but you’ll find a cached version by following the link below.

Yoshinori Ono Teases Street Fighter V Reveal at Paris Games Week

UPDATE – Well, that was fast! Details on what Ono was likely to reveal can be found here.

As he has often done in the lead-up to Street Fighter V, executive producer Yoshinori Ono jumped on Twitter earlier this morning to tease another reveal. This time around, the announcement is scheduled for Paris Games Week, but could be coming much sooner than usual.

While the convention is scheduled to last throughout the week, PlayStation is ready to kick things off early with an opening press conference today. In fact, their presentation will be live in just under an hour. Luckily, folks outside of France can tune in through their official broadcast, which we assume will be available in English as well as French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Who could it be? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Capcom Adding Previous Street Fighter V Beta Characters to Current Phase

With Street Fighter V’s second beta phase in full swing, Capcom recently announced that they will be providing a special gift to folks throwing down in the upcoming title: more characters!

Over the next few hours, the developers will be adding cast members from the previous beta test to the current one. That means those of you who missed out on playing Ryu, Chun-Li, Nash, M. Bison, Cammy, and Birdie now have an extra chance to see what they’re made of.

So far, only Nash has been made playable, but M. Bison should appear momentarily. For updates on when characters have rejoined the roster, be sure to follow SFV Server by following the link below.

Grab Street Fighter V on PC for Less Than $50

Oh, don’t mind Zangief up there. He’s just excited about a new Street Fighter V deal that will let players purchase the game for less than $50 and couldn’t wait to tell his buddy Charlie about it.

If you missed out on Green Man Gaming’s last Street Fighter V sale, you’re in luck, because they are providing yet another markdown before the game’s release. While not quite as low as before, using discount code WINTER-ISCMNG-22PERC at checkout will slash off 22%, bringing your Street Fighter V preorder down to $46.80.

Better yet, the Steam code Green Man Gaming provides will allow players in North America the opportunity to jump into the beta, which just opened up to PC players and is scheduled to last through Sunday.

According to Dealzon, this offer will only be available until Monday, October 26, at 10 AM PDT, 1 PM EDT, so be sure to take advantage as soon as possible.

Street Fighter V Datamining Uncovers Additional Content

As is often the cast with PC releases, the Street Fighter V beta has opened the game up to the prying eyes of investigative dataminers. One such online detective recently posted their findings on Twitter, but the information has only raised more questions than answers.

By unpacking a large content file, we’re able to peer into the future a bit to see what Street Fighter V may ship with. There’s quite a few notable pieces of code, including additional character data for the before-match versus screen, at least three costumes for Ryu, and twelve stages.

Sure, most of this doesn’t add up to a whole lot, but let’s dive a little deeper into what the extra character data could mean. Since the character select screen data still only shows the sixteen cast members we know are coming, this may mean Street Fighter V will feature an unplayable boss character when it ships next year. But who might that be? If the Siliconera leaks hold true, Urien could certainly fit the bill.

Of course, this is all still speculation based on data for a game that has yet to see a final release. Feel free to check out the full dump here courtesy of Reddit user Epedemic and let us know what you think in the comments.

Skullgirls Finally Launches in Japanese Arcades on October 29

With all the hubbub surrounding the release of Skullgirls 2nd Encore and Arc System Works stepping up to publish the title in Japan, we’re sure lots of folks out there forgot that the indie fighter was originally slated to appear in the country by way of a NESiCAxLive arcade release. Fortunately, M2 didn’t, and they’re set to launch the title next Thursday, October 29.

While the old plan was to drop the base game and then update with new content at regular intervals, the added time has given M2 the opportunity to put out a full 2nd Encore release in arcades, complete with newcomers Squigly, Fukua, Big Band, Eliza, Beowulf, and Robo-Fortune.

Now, players in Japan will be able to get their hands on this upgraded release anywhere that has NESiCA cabs, so pretty much every arcade in the country. Further details regarding Arc System Works’ console release are still forthcoming.

Skullgirls 2 Totally Released for iOS, Nothing Shady Here

Well, this is certainly a surprise: indie darling Skullgirls has a sequel!

SkullGirls 2: Deadly Airport quietly arrived on iTunes earlier this month, bringing the unique action of its predecessor to iOS. An interesting route for Lab Zero, to be sure, but it appears as if they may have farmed this sequel out to another indie developer by the name of Nguyen Hiep, who is likely well-versed in this kind of mobile release.

But this isn’t a mere follow-up. SkullGirls 2: Dangerous Airstrip acts as a crossover of sorts with Capcom’s popular Street Fighter series. Gone are newcomers Cerebella, Peacock, and Ms. Fortune, replaced by fan favorites like Poison, Hugo, and Alex. Additionally, players are able able to dish out punishment with fatalities a la Mortal Kombat, and Art of Fighting 2’s airport stage even makes an appearance. Come to think of it, this may be the most ambitious crossover of all time.

Don’t just take my word for it; check out the beautiful screens below.
