Mcfly Pushes Mortal Kombat X’s Kung Lao to the Limit

ETC|Mcfly’s name has become synonymous with Kung Lao innovation for quite some time now. This was true in Mortal Kombat 9, and has proven to be true in the early life of Mortal Kombat X as well.

The video embedded below shows Mcfly’s creativity at its best. As the video’s name implies, you’ll find plenty of ways to use the game’s interactive objects to either open up opponents or keep combos flowing. Mcfly covers each of the fighter’s variants, so there’s plenty for fans of the bladed hat to pick up, regardless of which style they prefer.

Much of the video involves setups specific to the point that they’ll likely never see match play, but that doesn’t make them any less intriguing.

Stop Ibuki in Her Tracks with These Ultra Street Fighter IV Tsumuji Punishes

Ultra Street Fighter IV’s Ibuki brings a plethora of annoying attacks to the fight, many of which involve hard knockdowns, resets, and vortex options to make sure that once the opponent hits the floor, it’s lights out. Of course, her vortex isn’t the only annoyance that she packs; thanks to the Tsumuji, her pressure options can cause issues for opponents who don’t know how to properly deal with them.

In the video below, Ambassador Foxx provides a lengthy selection of ways to punish Ibuki when she decides to use her Tsumuji incorrectly. Some of these options are more impressive than others, but if you often find yourself facing off against the game’s resident kunoichi, be sure to check out the video to see what your character can do to dissuade her from tossing careless spin kicks.

Beefy Smash Doods Explain Why Teching Isn’t Always Possible in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Properly teching in Smash can mean the difference between losing a stock and surviving long enough to potentially take one from your opponent. Since this technique is so integral to playing at a high level, missed techs at crucial moments often cause audiences and even commentators to toss out phrases like “we tech those.”

But what about situations where teching isn’t possible? As the Beefy Smash Doods explain in the video below, there are times in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U where the game’s mechanics prevent the possibility of teching. This prevention system seems to occur when the hitstun of a move that knocks characters into a wall overlaps with the wall teching window.

For a full explanation, be sure to check out the video.

Shields, Beams, and Guitar Riffs Combine to Shred Opponents in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Although Captain America is pretty rare in the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament scene, players like TA.T3|Frutsy continue to keep up with the Avenger. Frutsy’s recent showing in Evo 2015’s top eight demonstrated Cap’s viability when accompanied by M.O.D.O.K and Doctor Doom, but those aren’t the only partners that make him shine.

This recent combo video from NastyxNate666 shows that Captain America, Dante, and Iron Man make quite the team. This trio shows its power through the ability to transition stray hits with moves like Jam Session or Hyper Charging Star into massive damage opportunities. You’ll also find Team Hyper Combo openers, various uses for X-Factor, and Dante doing what Dante does best: running all over the competition with his plethora of attacks.

If you’re looking for a way to avoid bringing Doctor Doom to the fight, this team is worth checking out.

Mortal Kombat X is Crushing 2015 Sales Charts

It’s impossible to deny the popularity of NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat X. On top of breathing life into its own sector of the competitive fighting scene, the game brings buckets of blood for the masses who prefer mashing to calculated bouts of footsies; in short, it has a little something for everyone.

A recent report from Fortune gives gamers a more concrete sense of just how popular the game has proven to be in the first half of 2015 with a list of the top-selling video games, courtesy of information direct from The NPD Group, who tracks such things. Mortal Kombat X ranks in at number one.

This chart tracks sales of games in the first six months of the year, regardless of when they released. That means heavy hitters like Minecraft made the list, as did other titles that saw release prior to 2015, including Nintendo’s newest Super Smash Bros. run.

While the list offers an accurate glimpse of retail sales, according to Fortune, it “does not include hard figures for digital sales directly from game platforms like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.” With this in mind, the folks at Chicagoist, in their report, wondered whether or not downloadable content sales were included when figuring out the rankings. This is a good question, and is certainly something that would have affected the outcome of the sales of most titles that made the list, but to what degree?

It’s not that Mortal Kombat X could have transcended the first place slot and found itself in 0th place–that doesn’t exist–but the sales of characters, skin packs, and, hell, even those easy fatality tokens would have likely done a fair amount of work to ensure that title’s dominance. Let’s see if it has enough staying power to last through the rest of the year.
