Izaw Shares More Link Knowledge in Latest Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Tutorial

There’s more to keeping the kingdom of Hyrule safe than suiting up in green (complete with pointed cap) and knowing which end of the sword to hold. If you find yourself at this impasse, or if you’re just looking to expand your Hylian horizons, Izaw’s new guide, the Art of Link 3, has you covered.

In the guide, Izaw covers some of the changes that Link has received in recent game updates–things like his shield’s ability to block lasers and his new jab cancel window. The video also covers tactics like tether trumping, stylish ways to get combos going while recovering, and plenty more.

Mortal Kombat X’s Tremor Crushes the Competition with Nasty Finishers

Information surrounding Mortal Kombat X’s upcoming Earth-based ninja, Tremor, isn’t exactly abundant. We do have a loose idea of the sorts of fighting styles he will be bringing into the arena once he joins the roster, but many specific details are still anyone’s guess.

We do, however, have a good idea of what some of his Fatality and Brutality options will entail, thanks to a handful of screenshots posted to Reddit. It’s no surprise that stones of various shapes and sizes play a part in these post-match mutilations.

You can check out the images for yourself below. Do note that some of these shots include graphic content.

Earn Killer Instinct World Cup Qualifying Points at Kentucky’s Upcoming FightFest Tournament

In a little less than a month, Louisville, Kentucky will be hosting its annual FandomFest Comic Expo. In addition to providing an outlet for cosplay, photo ops, panels, and all other standard convention fare, the event will house the tournament that organizers have appropriately dubbed “FightFest.”

This tournament is set to include brackets for Ultra Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat X, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, Killer Instinct, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. As an added bonus, top performers in Killer Instinct will be able to earn qualifying points for the Killer Instinct World Cup.

Since FightFest is part of the larger FandomFest event, a pass to the convention is required in order to gain entry into the tournaments. Those looking to enjoy the whole convention can grab a weekend pass for $60, but if you’re just looking to slap some buttons against the local competition, you can pick up a Saturday pass (the day of the tournament) for $40. Registry for the tournament will take place on-site, with each game requiring a $10 entry fee.

We’ve embedded the event’s official trailer below.

FightFest 2015 is set to take place August 8 at the KY International Convention Center. FandomFest will run for the entire weekend of August 7-9. For a full schedule of FightFest tournament times, as well as official tournament rules, you can head over to the event’s official website.

Justice Chip Compiles Series of Clutch Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Moments

Nothing gets the blood pumping like a series of smart Super Smash Bros. for Wii U plays that end in a secured stock. Well, okay, a series of smart plays that end in a huge risk that secures a stock may be a little bit more exciting to watch, but you get my point.

Take a collection of these moments, add in stylish editing and a wide spread of cast representation, and you get Charity #2, Justice Chip’s newest Smash highlight video. It goes without saying that the video consists of plenty of high-level plays, but they don’t all come from top tier contenders, so while Diddy and Shiek do get some screen time, they’re not always the ones dishing out the pain.

If you missed the previous Charity reel, you can find it here.

Pac-Man Hydrant Glitch Makes Edge Guarding a Breeze in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Yesterday we featured an article about Pac-Man’s ability to cause his opponents to fall through stages, but it seems that isn’t the only glitch that the Namco representative is bringing to the fight in the current version of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Pac-Man aficionado PEPESPAIN has uncovered what may be the scariest edge guarding method in the game, thanks to a glitch that they’re calling the “angry hydrant.” It seems that a hydrant dropped with precise timing won’t fire any water, but will maintain an active hitbox for its duration. This means that the retro gaming icon can drop this hydrant after knocking an opponent from the stage, then sit back and watch them struggle to return.

So far, PEPESPAIN says that this only works on the right side of the stage, but it definitely looks to be worth picking up for all of you Pac-Mains out there.

Catch Hours of Recent Super Street Fighter II Turbo Action with This Playlist from ST Revival

With all the games that have come and gone over the last couple of decades, few have maintained such a loyal following as Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Whether it’s the game’s speed, the purity of form, or raw nostalgia that keeps players going back to hurl hadoukens old school, there’s no question that top-level matches stand to bring about a different sort of hype than we’re used to seeing in more modern titles.

If you’re a fan of Super Turbo, you’ll be pleased to know that ST Revival founder Kuroppi has compiled a massive playlist–seriously, it’s thirty videos–of top-level Super Turbo action from the last six months, which we’ve embedded below.

And if you’re looking to get involved in some Super Turbo action yourself, don’t forget to sign up for the side tournament coming to Evo next month.

Show Me Your Moves! Learn Captain Falcon’s Infinite in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Captain Falcon’s standard down special is all well and good, but when looking to stack up some serious damage, replacing the fire-based Falcon Kick with the custom lightning variation is the only way to fly. If timed properly, Falcon is capable of performing a footstool followed by a Lightning Falcon Kick until he sees fit to end his opponent’s stock with a forward air.

As you’ll see in the video below from My Smash Corner, the infinite works on every character in the game. There are, of course, a handful of timing alterations that come into play depending on who is on the receiving end. These have to do with the height an opponent needs to reach before a footstool will keep them trapped, and some large characters also require special spacing. But once the hits start flowing, it’s just a matter of time until the Captain claims a stock.

It should be noted that a few of Evo 2015’s officially approved custom move sets include this special, so it remains to be seen how much this will affect a major competition.
