Everyone has a fighting chance
I think I have always been a happy MMO fan. I have even been accused of being sappy or of wearing rose-colored glasses when covering MMOs because I tend to, well, enjoy them. I will give it to those who make such a suggestion: playing an MMO primarily through its systems (meaning grinding) is one way to find happiness, but I didn’t think that my distaste for the grind should disqualify my particular joy.
Epic revealed its plans to bring Fortnite to Mac during this week’s WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference). The plan is to begin closed beta testing in the fall of 2015. As part of the presentation, Epic revealed a new trailer. Check it out and see what you think.
Two-man development team, Ironbit, has sent word that the latest update has been applied to Colonies Online, its MMO set in the far space-faring future. Most notably, weapon and armor crafting has been added.
Whalebox Studio and Viva Media will be bringing a new game to next week’s E3. Called "Goliath", the game centers around players arriving on a strange island inhabited by gigantic creatures. Players will need to scavenge for materials to build highly-customizable robots in order to stay alive.
I’m just as excited about Fallout 4 as the next guy, and think our very own Bill Murphy wrote a great list of things that would be awesome to see in the game, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t say I was hoping it’d be announced as an MMO. What if there were a Fallout MMO and what if the developers actually made it the kind of game it has the potential to become?
The week before E3 is always fraught with rumors and rumors of rumors. As this week begins, the news has come down the pike that Dark Souls III is on its way later this week. A series of screenshots was ‘leaked’ and The Know has put together a video to show them off.
Fedeen Games has released a new gameplay video from Forsaken World Mobile. This time, both PvP and dungeon running are featured in the video and give players a good look at the way cooperative play will be handled. Players are invited to head to the Google Play site to preregister for the game that will score a pair of unlock codes for epic items when Forsaken World Mobile is released later this year.
Webzen has announced that the next expansion to Age of Wulin (EU) will be arriving in July 2015. Called "Blood & Flowers", players can expect to find Lingxiao City, a new battleground, a new competition, a new feature in the Partner System and the Island of Delight.
I think next week, yes in the midst of E3, I’ll finally put a wrap on this project and assign a score to Pathfinder Online as it stands now. But let me start this week by saying that fresh of The Witcher 3 and another Early Access game known as ARK: Survival Evolved makes Pathfinder feel even less finished. PFO can be enjoyable, it can… but the more I play it the less I can recommend investing your own money in the River Kingdoms for now.
