The looter shooter is a hard genre of game to get right, but Gearbox managed to get pretty close with its series of Borderlands games. As fun as they were, it’s important not to look back on them with rose tinted glasses. There were definitely some areas I’d have liked to see improved and I’m hoping Borderlands 3 will address the issues and also add some new features along the way.
Battle Pass Season 1 Goes Live in Rift
The Rift forums have been updated with the patch notes from today’s update that includes the new Battle Pass Season 1 where players can “progress through 30 levels to claim rewards”. Free players can take part in four daily missions and three random weekly missions to progress through the Battle Pass reward ranks. Patrons can participate in six daily missions and three random weekly missions to earn rewards.
Rumors of Lost Ark Mobile Surface
The West doesn’t even have a version of Lost Ark for players yet, but rumors are beginning to swirl in Korea that a mobile version of the game may already be in the works. According to media outlets, Smilegate is looking for developers with knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 (the PC version is built on Unreal Engine 3) to fill jobs in animation, scenario and combat animation and client development. Smilegate has waved away the rumors stating this is a “normal recruitment drive”.
Conan Exiles Players Seemingly Diving Into the Briny Deep in the Future
The Conan Exiles forum has a new post with a mysterious underwater screenshot that seems to foreshadow upcoming content that will include deep dives into the briny deep. According to the post, the new content will be heading to TestLive “sooner than you might expect”. It will include new mechanics and content that devs are hoping to get player feedback on prior to releasing it to live servers.
Buccaneer’s Bounty Event Drops Into Fortnite Battle Royale
Fortnite Battle Royale has been updated to bring the Buccaneer’s Bounty event into the game. Each day of the event, players will be able to take part in a different limited time mode and “collect your very own treasure in the form of in-game rewards by completing free Challenges”. In addition to the event, players can also check out the Fly Explosives and Team Rumble LTMs, take to the road in the new Reboot Van and cheer on their favorite players in the Fortnite World Cup Online Open Week.

In about an hour, the Military & Veterans Gamers group, the largest veteran-affiliated gamer community in the US, will be hosting a second charity live stream event in order to raise funds to send care packages to military personnel deployed overseas. After the last event in February, organizers were able to send over $1000 worth of care-packages and they’re hoping to match, or beat, that number during this week’s event.
Remnant: From the Ashes Trailer – “Can You Survive?”
Perfect World Entertainment has sent out a new trailer for its upcoming survival-action shooter that is set on four separate worlds. Three players will “test their limits in intense combat against over 100 deadly monsters and over 20 epic bosses in dynamically-generated levels that offer endless worlds to explore”. Remnant: From the Ashes is expected to launch on August 20th for PC via Steam, XBox One and PlayStation 4.
The Cycle Begins Weekly Playtests for the Match-Based FPS with PvPvE Action
YAGER has sent word that The Cycle has reached an important milestone in its development thanks to the arrival of weekly playtests that will kick off on April 12th. Once this round of testing is complete, closed beta opportunities for interested players will begin, likely later this spring. The Cycle challenges players to “go it alone, form squads with friends, or make uneasy temporary alliances with strangers”, though there is always the danger that one of them will shiv you unawares.
