Max Out That Combo Counter in This Max Hit Combo Montage for Street Fighter V

While they may not be the most efficient ways of racking up damage, landing a max hit combo in Street Fighter V is one way to style on your opponent. If you see that combo counter extend past 15 or so hits, you know your opponent is feeling the pressure. For this installment of the Max Hit montage, izumojinX completes their run of the Street Fighter V cast, starting with Ken and finishing with the latest edition to the roster, Illuminati mogul Urien.

Outside of his own crazy Aegis Reflector extensions, Urien features quite heavily in the montage, as his Reflector can actually extend the combo chains of characters, as seen most notably in the Birdie combo. See if you can replicate these combos in an actual match, and check out izumojinX’s first Max Hit montage below as well.

Rocwell Brings the Thunder with This Extensive Guide to Pressuring and Mix-Ups with Laura’s EX Thunderclap in Street Fighter V

Put your hands together for Rocwell, as he has compiled a thorough guide for Street Fighter V’s Laura: detailing how to bully and mix-up opponents with her EX Thunderclap. Starting with basic combos off of each knockdown, Rocwell slowly builds up the options Laura has following an EX Clap, leading into some electrifying combos. For the majority of these setups, landing the reset following the second EX Clap will result in stun, so those struggling with Laura need to study up on what may be coming your way, using this video.

Rocwell also shows how mixing in normal dashes and Laura’s V-skill dash can cause opponents to panic, leaving them open to a throw or dropping their guard so you can lead into a combo. The oncoming threat of the EX Clap is so much that Laura players can get really creative with their pressure, so take inspiration from Rocwell’s guide and see what crazy things you can come up with.

2GGaming Announces 2GGT: ZeRo Saga at the Rio Hotel, Las Vegas from December 17th-18th

In a rather muted trailer for their latest saga, 2GGaming have announced at on the one-year anniversary since the last ZeRo Saga, they are hosting another one with the help of Collegiate Colosseum. Thanks to this partnership with Collegiate Colosseum, there will be a $10,000 pot bonus for this event, alongside a bunch of side activities like an arcade room, artist alley, and much more within the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, where this Saga is taking place.

That’s right, for the first ever two-day Saga, 2GGaming are moving from the usual Esports Arena venue and taking this anniversary event to the bright lights of Las Vegas. The big draw of this ZeRo Saga is that 2GGaming are attempting to invite every player who has previously beaten TSM|ZeRo to this tournament, to see if anyone will repeat their success. Everyone who has had a Saga named after them has failed to win their own event, but with ZeRo’s recent return to form, he has the potential to break the curse. However, people (including myself) said this about Abadango and he only managed 13th at his Saga.

All the details are available on the smash.gg page, so check it out if you are looking for a trip to Las Vegas before the year is out. With ZeRo Saga acting as the last one for the year, we can looking forward to the Civil War Saga in early 2017, alongside a possible Japan Saga in the not too distant future.

DreamHack Fighters Talks with Adam “Armada” Lindgren about His Melee History and His Long Term Goals for Smash

In readiness for the DreamHack Smash Championship in Sweden later this year, DreamHack Fighters caught up with current Super Smash Bros. Melee world number one and proud Swede Adam “Armada” Lindgren to discuss his history and goals going forward with Melee. It all started after competing at the Nintendo Championship, alongside his fellow Melee playing brothers “Aniolas” and “Android,” back in 2005. Upon learning that there was a whole world of players who were better than him at Melee, it became his goal to become the best in the world, through constant practice and tournament attendance.

His decision to make Peach his main came partially from going to the Nintendo Championship and seeing someone doing loads of damage with her down-smash. Combine that with the fact that people were placing high with Peach without using the tech that Armada has discovered himself, he could place even higher than them by employing all the strategies he had invented, combined with the tactics he saw American players using.

According to the interview, Armada’s long term goal as a player is to stay as the world number one, while also maintaining his stream and his hands. Many other top players are developing serious hand injuries which prevent them from playing, so Armada hopes to compete for as long as his hands will let him. You can check out the full interview over on DreamHack’s official website, which also answers the burning question of which Mario brother is Armada’s favorite.

The UK Gets Its Chance to Enter the King of the Iron Fist Tournament on the 11th of November

While the rest of the European qualifiers were announced for the King of the Iron Fist Tournament, the UK was left in the lurch as to when their qualifier would be. Well, wait no longer, as Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe has revealed that the UK qualifier will be held in the UK offices of Bandai Namco Entertainment in Richmond, London on the 11th of November.

Unlike previous 256-player qualifiers, this event has a limited cap of 64 players, so competition will be fierce for spots. Due to the scarcity of places, the actual selection process for this qualifier is a little different. Rather than simply buying a ticket or it being first come, first serve, players must fill out a registration form which proves how big of a Tekken fan you are. This means how many tournaments you attend, if you have a massive collection of Tekken merch, or if you make regular videos or art about the Tekken series. I’m not sure if this is the best way to select players, but it certainly makes sure only dedicated Tekken fans are in this bracket.

Potential applicants must fill out the form by this Friday the 21st and if you are selected, you will receive an email to confirm your place in the tournament. Entrants must be 18 or over, they must be a European resident and have travel documents which allow them to go to Japan should they win the qualifier. If the winner does not have valid travel documents, the prize will go to the next highest placing player.

Additional information such as tournament rules and legal controllers are all available on the official Tekken website.

Land Early Kill Combos with the Stun Jacket in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

A ported over glitch from Brawl, Marth’s Counter has a unique property that if you whiff a Counter against certain disjointed moves, you can then stack the hitstun from the whiffed Counter onto Marth’s next move. The additional hitstun gives Marth more time to follow up with a move like a tipper F-Smash, resulting in possible early kills.

In Brawl, this technique wasn’t that useful as it only really worked against moves like Falco’s Reflector and Ike’s Aether. However, with the addition of Bayonetta who can throw out a long disjoint with her Bullet Arts, Marth’s Stun Jacket becomes very useful in that matchup. By countering Bayonetta’s Bullet Arts, Marth can stack the Stun Jacket for his next move, leading into heavy damage combos, which are demonstrated in the video by Rising VeXx found below.

This Stun Jacket tech is not specific to just Marth however. Any character with a counter similar to Marth’s — Palutena, Roy, Ike, Lucina, Greninja and even Bayonetta herself — benefit from the Stun Jacket and can stack the whiffed Counter’s hitstun onto their next move. Do keep in mind that the Stun Jacket is reset if the enemy connects with a multihit move like Bayonetta’s Up B or if they pummel you when you are grabbed. Do note that Little Mac, Shulk, Corrin and Lucario do not benefit from the Stun Jacket due to the unique properties of their Counter move.

Kidrobot x Street Fighter V Figures Now Available

For anyone who is a fan of collecting Street Fighter themed memorabilia, you’ve got another set of figures to add to your list. Kid Robot has launched a new line of Street Fighter figures, including a 7″ Hot Ryu, a 7″ Akuma and a blind box mini series for all of the original cast of Street Fighter V.

The Hot Ryu and Akuma figures are self explanatory while the blind box series has collectors receiving a random World Warrior when you open up a box. You can buy a pack of 20 in one go to increase you chances of getting that rare Karin or R. Mika figure but with each figure being $9.99 a pop, it’s quite a costly investment to get the whole set. As mentioned, there are no DLC characters like Urien or Guile in this series, it’s just the original 16 fighters from the vanilla version of Street Fighter V. The Hot Ryu and Akuma figures cost $49.99 and would act as a decent stocking stuffer for any fighting game fan this Christmas.

You can purchase the figures over on Kidrobot’s website and check out the gallery below to have a quick glance at the figures before you consider clicking “Add to Basket.”

Danish Sends His Enemies to the Shadow Realm in This Ganondorf Combo Video for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

As a former Ganondorf main in Smash 4, I’m always delighted to see a combo video which pushes the King of Darkness to his full potential. Infamous for having the hardest hits but one of the worst neutral games out of the whole cast, getting Ganondorf to work in the current meta is an absolute nightmare. So, when someone like Danish creates a montage which shows the beefy evil wizard dunking on opponents, it brings a tear to a ex-Gerudo’s eye.

This combo video displays the strengths Ganondorf does have if he gets going; insane damage output, easy edgeguards with reverse up-air, soul crushing suicide kills with off stage Flame Choke and footstool combos which guarantee death or a broken controller for your opponent. While you’re probably never going to see a Ganondorf in top 32, let alone top 8 of a Smash 4 major, you can still marvel at his raw power in combo videos like this.
